Instant subscriber, I love the way you describe how devices work, and the visuals help a lot! I’ve also gone through multiple devices trying to find my ideal DAWless setup, and I’m really digging the Synthstrom Deluge for looping, sequencing and drums. I mostly use keyboards, so the desktop design really works for me. This pedal is a great piece of kit though, cheers!
Until I watched this, I hadn't even considered using a loop-based device like this (I mainly thought about getting something like a Boss GT-1 multi-effect pedal), but this sounds really interesting as a way to create something more layered, organic, and textured that can then be used as a soundscape backdrop. Really well explained, Mark, and thanks for sharing your ideas and music with the rest of the us. Cheers. as always, and looking forward to seeing more on this - I would be very interested in seeing a video where you demonstrate these techniques with the loop station 🙂
Best video on rc 600 I’ve seen, very well explained, I’ve used the RC 202 for a few years with the iPad Pro using various synth apps, my favourite app is blockswave layering samples and adding guitar and keyboards, loads a fun with surprisingly good results,l bought an RC300 haven’t really tried it properly yet, Did you ever use one?
Hi Paul thanks for watching and the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video! I haven't tried any other Boss loopers the RC-600 was my first, people really like their RC300s though, good luck with it! 👍
It would be great if Roland/BOSS would add more fluid form ways to manipulate loops in the next version. Not having Frippertronic decay, feedback or variable playback speed of the loops out of the box seems like low hanging fruit that would be easy to add. Great to see someone using these devices in highly creative ways.
Hi, thanks for tuning in! I agree, some of the older Boss loopers have loop decay so it's strange they didn't include settings like these. I'm actually looking at Frippertronics and a setup for the RC-600 in my next video!.. 🙌🎶
@@whirrings Hey there, I dunno if you know but there is a way to do decay but it is a hack and a complete pain to set up, but it does work and you only have to set it up once.
Hi, not sure if it's the same but the way I've seen described involves overdubbing and bouncing a track down to itself, and using the track effects to reduce the volume... 👍
Yeah would like to hear the follow-up video of recording ,mixing and mastering process. I was looking at getting the RC505 mk2 but not sure now if it is worth the extra money. Thankyou for demonstrating this with excellent visual examples (like the carboard cutouts and labels).
Hi there, thanks for listening! Yes, Apple Music is very hit and miss, for some reason they only listed half of the albums I uploaded and it seems they may have all disappeared now, Bandcamp is better bet... soundbymark.bandcamp.com 👍🎶
I have two rc 600s and goal is/was to play back my 4 piece band into separate channels...maybe midi them together to start simultaneously on two rc 600s
Great video, thanks for creating it. Is it possible to combine the different record & loop mechanisms? Meaning using the input signal as the record trigger for the first loop with the manual stop and then use that loop's length for all the consequent loop recordings? Or would need you to time everything manually at that point?
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes, it is possible to do this, I often work this way and it's one of the reasons the RC-600 has worked out for me. Whatever the length of your first "manually" recorded loop can determine the length of all the other loops, either the same or multiples... 👍🎶
Hi, thanks for watching. That's a complex answer I think, different prices, features, I/O... probably better to think about what your requirements are first and then see which of those loopers fit... 👍🎶
@whirrings The two things that'd make the RC600 unbeatable would be a touch screen like Headrush, (although I can work around that honestly), but some volume faders and pan knobs like the EHX 95000 would be amazing, to fade out certain loops and or pan them on the fly. Do you know if there's any way to do that with the RC600?
@@landersm223 Hi there, you can set up 16 midi cc controls for 100s of different settings so depending on what controller you had you could probably set something like that up quite easily. I'll might do a video showing the midi control options soon 👍
Hi there, thanks for watching! No you can't route the effects separately to the thing they are effecting and yes I use it as an audio interface all the time - it's 8 in, 8 out... 👍🎶
Hi, thanks for watching! I've just borrowed a SOMA Cosmos from a friend so I'll be digging into that soon. They look somewhat similar but are quite different I think. Cosmos is much simpler than the RC-600, a stereo effect rather than multi-track mini loop studio, but I am looking forward to exploring the different firmware versions that are available. Do you own one? 👍🎶
Cosmos is single session non saveable or sequenceable. Based on tape loops and Frippertronics it is entirely in the moment, random and quite meditational. I bought the Boss looper buts only left the box twice. I think you'll enjoy Cosmos very much.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. I will be demo-ing the RC-600 in my next video! 😎
@@whirrings Sounds great, looking forward to seeing that 🙂
Very informative! Thanks. So I guess, I have another audio interface with my RC 500.

I use the 505 MK2 in the same way. It's very good and much more friendly for use with hands
@@whirrings i got the 505mk2..it is weighty for a lot of plastic and rubber.

I’d be interested to know if this is better than some of new loopers like the Sheeran looper, Aero looper and the headrush.

Oh, forgot, have a look too at the Sonicware TextureLab. It's a lovely budget granulator, but can be used as a wild standalone FX unit.
