- The Bible is clear that we should not lie. The Devil is the father of lies. Lying is part of our sinful nature, but when we lie we should confess our sin, receive forgiveness, and rectify any wrong we have caused. Rare exceptions are seen in Scripture where it is appropriate to lie in order to protect life.

In regards to telling a lie and it not being okay, to me that falls into the same category as murder. In every instance where the Bible has people telling lies and they are saved (as he has mentioned) it is to save the lives of others. Same applies for killing just in very long terms. If killing is always a sin then was it wrong of David to slay Goliath? If you had someone break into your house looking to murder your children, how would you save them? My point being I think the only case in which a lie should ever be told is the same in which murder would not be seen as a sin, and that is for your life or someone else's life.

There is nothing worse than a liar. I know a man who will lie about even things he has no cause to lie. Its like a disease with him. The more he lies, the worse it gets and the more lies he has to tell. Further, nobody can believe someone once they are caught lying about something. I know other people who I know will lie and I always have to decipher everything of importance and search for the facts through all the lying.. sad

I have a daughter (20 years old ) who's acquired a real comfort with lying about money situations and it's very difficult to remain calm and have a connection with her when she just lies about everything and is causing alot of problems for herself and affecting every layer of life It grieves me how she can do it so easily God please help me and forgive me of my sins of lying too 🙏

The only thing you said that I have a hard time agreeing with is that children naturally lie. I don’t believe that’s true. I believe they learn to lie when they discover that it can help them get ahead/avoid trouble but in my experience kids are mostly honest.

Hey please help me find the answer to my problem. Im the only christian am 16 and still living at home, because i was sharing my faith to get unbelievers saved through god, my parents wich are very strict and just want to live their life like they want forbade me to do that and forced me to delete the channel. They went as far as forbidding me to listen to christian music and watch anything related on religion. Now i felt the urge to praise god and thats where i lied to them. I also am watching videos because he said to remain in the spirirt and to also worship and praise his name. Am i guilty of lying? Im really not happy living here and by the way im from germany.
The fact that you feel guilt for that, to me at least, shows your heart is in the right place. If I could give you som advice, from one young believer to another, I would stand up for my faith. Don’t let them tell you that you can’t worship God, don’t let them stop you from spreading his gospel. I let my family stopped me and it really hurt me, made me backslide, and now I’m having a *very* hard time getting things right. Stand up for your Christ. We can’t just worship him in the shadows, we must always be a follower of Christ. Much love to you honey, I hope your situation gets better.
I don't have much wisdom but in my opinion, in this case lying is not that bad because it helps you walk on a higher purpose

I might lie once in a while because I don't want to be ridiculed or shamed by anyone about things personal. Especially people at school, I might lie if someone asked a personal question that have no right to the answer.
So if I answer a call and my mom tells me to tell the caller she’s not here. Is that a lie? Am I going against god

I am an compulsive liar. I know It's wrong and I feel sorry. But I cannot seem to stop. Why? I have mental health issues. Will God punish sick or blind people? I wish I could stop this but It's not that easy..

a lie is a lie, even when Meant to be a life saving truth is holy so truth must be spoken even if it costs someone's life, or can you lie to not hurt anyone?
There are examples of lying in the Bible to throw evil off course. The commandment says, "Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Lying to save a life will be judged accordingly to God. I believe that you may be rewarded for giving grace because the lie saved someone and threw evil off course, as I said.
Consider the midwives of Israel in the day of Pharos genecidal infanticide
Well first thing that came to my mind was, the lives the midwives saved were innocent lives. They were standing up for those who could not possibly stand up for themselves and that’s very Christlike. They shouldn’t have lied and it was a sin, but I believe God forgave and blessed them because of the innocence they were protecting. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t “wrong.” Even though I don’t believe it was, I can’t say what’s right and wrong. God can and we shouldn’t question him.
In my opinion, I think we must always think of greater good and well being of others even if it involves lying to save someone's life as God is love and love is at the core of existence of universe.
I also believe it is ok to lie when planning a surprise party, or in contexts like that
