everyone here excels in defense, with lyd maybe the most excellent defender. however, what lyd has in defense he somewhat lacks in attacking power from the back of the court. jung was a fine attacker with a beautiful, coiled jump smash and superb racket skills, but the fu/cai combo was an unrelenting machine of raw blistering power raining down from heaven at all angles, plus great mobility and the ability to earn the attack with net play and flat game, plus solid defense. it's old footage, and it's a little easier to see the funny hairstyles than it is to see the shuttle, but matches like this from that era are what has shaped mens doubles today

LYD defense are the best back then. His teammate are attacked more often and if he can’t keep up they lose.
