RIP Christopher Reeve aka DC’s “Superman”.... Most folks do not notice Christopher riding on the 10-Speed, stopping, then looks up at Bobby & the buildings....
This was when Bobby Brown was at the top of the R&B/pop music food chain. In his absolute prime before drugs, fame, ego and personal demons ruined his career. '88-'89 Bobby Brown was almost as big as Thriller Michael Jackson which is legendary company.
@@anthonyanderson9303 yeah, people overlook how huge Bobby Brown was '88-'89. People legit thought that he was on his way to being the next Michael Jackson as far as being the next young male R&B superstar who'd be the face of pop music the next decade. Cocaine, drugs, fame and his personal demons ruined his career. It was over before it really got started.
@@Israel-nb7ip Yea he was basically of the king of New Jack Swing era. Problem was, along with the personal issues you mentioned, that style fizzled out quickly by the time the early 90's rolled around. Then came the era of the R&B groups that took over. But Bobby definitely left his mark and his legacy really carries on till this day. If you think about it, all the male sex symbols in R&B that came down the pipe were all influenced by him. From R. Kelly and Aaron Hall, to KC Hailey to Sisqo to Usher to Chris Brown to Trey Songs and on and on it goes.
@@anthonyanderson9303 you know, I don't think that the New Jack Swing style ending was what did him in. I say this because, if you look at a lot of the acts of the early 90s like TLC, Jodeci, and even R.Kelly when he was with Public Announcement, they also had a version of that sound on their first albums and then their sounds changed along with the times. Bobby Brown just got caught up in his celebrity lifestyle and marriage to Whitney and stopped making music. And before he knew it, a whole generation of young artists replaced him.
@@Israel-nb7ip That's a valid point you're right those acts started during that era and evolved. They were also new fresh acts as well however. Remember Bobby had been around since what, '83? Him and New Edition as a whole were being phased out. It was like exit New Edition/BBD, enter Boyz 2 Men/Jodeci. But I get your point tho cuz if you compare him to say Johnny Gill and even a Keith Sweat who while not quite on his level were successful NJS artists, they evolved into the 90's and still had good runs.
The Don't Be Cruel album is almost perfect. The title track is great along with Roni, Every Little Step, Rock Wit Cha, My Prerogative basically you should do a full album react.
Not one single mentions or look up of all the extremely well-known celebrity cameos in this video. That's one of the BIGGEST features that made this video so unbelieveably special and worth discussing.
Fun fact! Most of the random people you see in the video are big celebrities of the time. So just imaging all the famous people you know getting crammed into one music video and you can get a sense of how big this video was.
Trump was real big at this time in the 80's Bobby Brown seemed bigger because our ears wanted good music and the decades were turning... 9/11 happened Lots of crap Now we found out where the cards may fall Too hot to handle, too cold to hold

I love this song so much. I never get tired of watching this music video. I was a teen in the 80's. Such good memories.
One of the GOAT (and somehow underrated) Bobby Brown songs, though he has so many more good ones.
U gotta react to Bobbys "Don't Be Cruel" album that was the highest selling album of the late 80s and solidified Bobby as a solo superstar
Facts. Bobby was the biggest artist in the world in 1989, bigger than MJ even.
