Mercedes is ranked dead last out of all brands by Consumer Reports for reliability (below even JLR, Chrysler, Volvo… yikes), whereas BMW is ranked in the top few brands and best overall brand two years running.
This is not coming as a suprise after Ola's plan to make the Brand a short term leasing luxury brand. They dont built cars for the long term anymore. Its not a car designed by engineers. Its a car designed by accountants and wannabe lifestyle influencers.
Drove both myself and chose the Mercedes GLC43 due to the interior quality, performance/handling, better looking exterior, and the infotainment system. I also negotiated over $5K less from sticker. I truly dislike the look of the new styled BMW.
@@phandapanda9644bmw was just until this new gen way better made than mercedes. This new gen doesnt change that much really. They did some cost cutting but so did mercedes. Most reviewers attest better interior quality to BMW still.
@@aidanquinn5498 it's going to be my wife's car. She currently has a volvo XC60 T6 r-design, which is really nice. We've had 8 bmw's. Four X7's and four X5's over the years. She likes a smaller car, so the X3 it is. We only use the X7 for long trips. The X3 will be her daily.
Great review! I think the X3 has an incredible powertrain and excellent handling. I haven't driven this generation GLC, but the X3 M50 feels so much sportier around any turns and backroads than the previous GLC43 AMG.
excellent review. I am looking to possibly get something different for the wife vs the 3 Q5's we have had. I was going to check out the Merc but the ride is the most important issue for the long hauls we do now. Ther BMW appears to have cheapened the interior but I need to check them out for consideration vs another SQ5. Subscribed.
@@Jassman3536 Thank you for the comment, feedback and welcome to the community! X3 is the clear winner for ride comfort. Yes, the interior isn’t what BMW has previously crafted via materials but most of them are look-points opposed to touch points. Be sure to find some chewed up pavement when you test drive it to see how much more livable the BMW feels.
Merc for the interior quality bmw for driving. The new m50 is too cheap feeling in terms of materials that don’t belong in a luxury car . They imported them from mini
I have also been reading reports of reliability issues on the Mercedes GLC range - and several recalls. Just Google to see how many tech issues the GLC already experienced and continues to have.
Both are great choices. Merc won me over on styling and imo it will age better, interior materials, hi res display and the Burmester audio with sound personization.
Both are compromised. BMW is ugly and bland, has a cheap interior and you can't open the roof. AMG has everything the BMW doesn't have in luxury and looks, but negates all of it with a harsh ride. Sorry, not going for either. I ordered a GLC 400e coupe. All the luxury and comfort and still plenty fast for public roads without the cost of 15l/100km.
@Modern.Motoring With X5 40i you can add M Adaptive Professional Suspension with Active Steering and M Sport Differential. X3 M50 is just a downgrade from the previous model, the M Sport Differential is not available anymore, being standard on X3 M40i. BMW is just trying to fool its customers, but they can't do with all of them. So choosing a sporty SUV, X5 is still the way to go in this power range. A little bit more pricey, but totally worth it over X3!
Which one would you take?

Picking up X3 M50 this weekend. Hard to beat the linear B58 and ZF 8 speed.
@@The_action_is_the_juice Congrats!! The AMG, to me, just isn’t as exhilarating as the B58.
I’m on my second B58 now I have the 24 M40, May I ask what you’re coming from.
