I love Marillion and I love this song. I like it even better live when it goes farther out on the ragged edge. For more Marillion I would suggest King, This Strange Engine, Out of this World, The Space and The Great Escape.
Distinctive to Marillion is, that they are top of their game performing live giving 110 % to their fans. I've listened to Marillion for over 30 years, keeping breaks, but returning always after a while to their music from start to this day. Marillion's latest album is really good, at it's best performed live, so they've never started to chilling down. It was fantastic to watch your positively astonished reaction. That's what Marillion does! So, next Marillion song, please!
Hi DC, well done, again..."Neverland" is an absolute masterpiece by Marillion. If you want to do more of Marillion, here's a suggestion of another masterpiece, ( my opinion) - "The Space" from the Album "Seasons End"...you will enjoy it, too. goose bumps are included & guaranteed, because, that's how I always react when I listen to Marillion, because I'm a huge fan of the Band. 👍 for the video & keep up going, dude.
You bumped into one of the most underappreciated bands. Whether it is Fish or H on vocals, the music is intelligent and amazingly well put together. Steve Rothery is an amazing guitar player. If I feel edgy I pick the older material but the new songs are so lyrical and worldly, just put the headphones on and close your eyes. I like Punch & Judy, Assasing and Jester's Tears from the early days. I love Separated Out, Easter. Gaza is a long song but it is amazing.
Great you've arrived Marillion. Hope you react to hotel Hobbies/warm wet circles/that time of of the night (trilogy) or the entire Misplaced Childhood Greets from Mexico
Great pick for a first Marillion listen! One of their best. If you want to check out something of theirs from an earlier era with a different singer, I'd recommend "White Russian," which is startlingly relevant for a song released in 1987!
Marillion are my favourite... watching live shows are better than the actually the albums! F.E.A.R.. the album is amazing! BRAVE is bloody fantatic and the fans have different all different takes on the song... Marillion music is good for that.
looking at you listening to this band i know since a longtime, i like your reaction close to tears sometimes it's good to see some people reacting to these old bands of prog
Marillion has had two vocalists. The early work, with Derek William Dick (aka Fish) as the lyricist and vocalist, and the Steve H. era, which you listened to today. I love both, but the differences in vocal styles is significant. Like Pink Floyd, their concept albums should be listened to start-to-finish. For the Steve H. version, Brave somewhat falls into that category.. only a few of the songs required it. For Fish era, it is very important to do Misplaced Childhood and Clutching At Straws as a complete album in one sitting listen. I'd recommend reading their lyrics while listening to the music, especially with the Fish stuff. For tracks: Fish Era: Script for a Jester's Tear (from the album of the same name), then the whole Misplaced Childhood album, then the whole Clutching at Straws album. Steve H. era: The Memory of Water (from This Strange Engine), Easter (from Season's End), the 1st side of Brave, and then maybe When I Meet God (from Anoraknophobia).
Yes totally agree. Both fantastic leads. H never seems to lose energy I know his movements have slowed but it was 30 years ago I saw him pounding the stage in BristolI just love Marillion
This such a great album, took me a long time to get into it, but now it is one of my favourite. Other stand out tracks are the Damage, Fantastic place and the Only unforgivable thing. Loved the reaction, ps you should watch the live version of this the first guitar solo is really a highlight.
Hey, so glad you enjoyed listening to the band... this isn't one of my favourite tracks, but then I always preferred the earlier stuff when Fish was lead singer... but hey, glad you liked it and want to hear more :-)
About Peter Pan. Masterpiece song from a masterpiece album "Marbles" from 2004. Try Invisible man, Ocean cloud, Fantastic place from the same album, which contains mostly jewels. You really should try other albums like Brave, Afraid of sublight, This strange engine, Misplaced Childhood, Clutching at straws, Anoraknophobia, FEAR, Sounds that can't be made, Season's end. You won't be disappointed.
If you want to check out anything by Marillion then do check out this video (part of a recently released BluRay) recorded at the Royal Albert Hall performing a song called The Space. A rather special performance with the help of a string quartet and two wind players: ua-cam.com/video/Nm_TcAAySbc/v-deo.html
A script for a Jesters Tear by Marillion is one of the best songs of all time and this is coming from a huge Radiohead/Pink Floyd fan. I also love this song too although I’ve only heard a few of the Hogarth era songs.
There are tons of great bands similar to Marillion so I feel the need to suggest one less known. The Norwegians from Airbag. Check their song Redemption that also has a very Pink Floydish sound.
Check out the Misplaced Childhood and Clutching at Straws albums, one of the best prog albums ever...with a twist of 80s vibe. You''ll definitely like them.
my two favourites as well. I regret not giving them much of a chance after Fish left or got fired. I've since lot my hearing, and my implant doesn't deliver music well, so I can only listen to things that I'm already acquainted with.....so, to let everyone know - enjoy all the music you can, because one day you might become deaf
Hi DC here is a song from the album 'Operation Mindcrime' by the band Queensryche, this is the dramatic mid point of in my view the greatest concept album ever made, I guarantee you have never heard anything quite like this, drop this into youtube search: Queensryche - Suite Sister Mary (Lyrics)
You made a rookie error there, by listening to the album version and not watching the live video. Whilst this band are brilliant on album, they are something totally different on stage. It's worth going on Marillion's official UA-cam page and checking out Gaza, This Strange Engine or The Invisible Man. If you like what you see, go on the band's website, follow the Crash Course links and they'll send you a free cd
It's the first time I have listened to the studio version for a few years and immediately I noticed the slightly slower tempo. Live this just goes through the stratosphere. I think bands learn better over the years how to play their songs and this is perhaps a good example.
OH, and if you want to react something a bit more out of the mainstream (but which I am sure you will absolutely love) then check out this track by British band IQ (they are contemporaries of Marillion as in they also started in the early 80s) ... The Road Of Bones is a song told from the perspective of a serial killer and quite a chilling piece of music: ua-cam.com/video/ob0OYmSQukk/v-deo.html
React to Marillion's 'Kayleigh'... yeah, I know you purists. It is a GREAT song, despite the commercialism. Just like The Church 'Under The Milky Way' (react to that one too!). Their commercial hit, but still a great song.
I'm new to Marillion myself, they never disappoint, I'm in awe every time I hear something new!
I love Marillion and I love this song. I like it even better live when it goes farther out on the ragged edge. For more Marillion I would suggest King, This Strange Engine, Out of this World, The Space and The Great Escape.
I love Seasons end.. they were warning us 30 years ago!
Absolutely brilliant song by a brilliant band
I love Marillion so much 💘 Love Fish, and love Steve 😍 Both are great 👌

Well said bro!!! You summed the band and people who work for them.

King (live is f******* amazing)
Another fan of the best band ever, Great escape is a must looking forward to your reaction

Play it LOUD without the lights off!
It's brilliant live... gets the emotional 😊

Go see any of the official live videos on UA-cam especially of Neverland to just see how much passion they put into the music live.

When he flies, he flies... Almost like we planned it... :)
Marillion are my favourite... watching live shows are better than the actually the albums! F.E.A.R.. the album is amazing! BRAVE is bloody fantatic and the fans have different all different takes on the song... Marillion music is good for that.

Marrillion are a band followed by a family. Listen to This Strange Engine a biographical song about lead singer. The best band ever

I absolutely agree with this. I've been a fan since their very first album Both vocalists are great the band is EXCELLENT
Well said my man well said both eras are great and yet so different the beauty of Marillion
Yes totally agree. Both fantastic leads.
H never seems to lose energy I know his movements have slowed but it was 30 years ago I saw him pounding the stage in BristolI just love Marillion

Lindo sempre
Marillion album reaction:Fugazi or Script for a Jester's Tear:-)
good to see you reacting to this band ,try afraid of sunlight,)
Wendy Darling and Neverland (also Hook) are the clues here... It's a love song yes, but about Peter Pan and Wendy.
One tip the live versions are better!
Finally Marillion.
Hey, so glad you enjoyed listening to the band... this isn't one of my favourite tracks, but then I always preferred the earlier stuff when Fish was lead singer... but hey, glad you liked it and want to hear more :-)
Please, please react to "Afraid of Sunlight"...
I'm already dead, it's a matter of time. Superb

Welcome to a brand new World. You're part of the best kept secret.

Hi dc check out warm wet circles from clutching at straws marillions 1987 album. Which featured original singer fish
Fantastic. Try great escape live and the space live at the royal Albert hall. For something longer try strange engine or ocean cloud live.
Please try Electric Light Orchestra - Ticket To The Moon

Agreed they are an amazing live band. There's so much music to listen too.. I love King live. Check out Brave live 2013.
It's the first time I have listened to the studio version for a few years and immediately I noticed the slightly slower tempo. Live this just goes through the stratosphere. I think bands learn better over the years how to play their songs and this is perhaps a good example.

Try Quartz Live from Cadogan Hall!
Any live version is better imo.
At times like these any fool can see that this song kicks bottom
👏👍👋🤘🐲😎✌
React to Marillion's 'Kayleigh'... yeah, I know you purists. It is a GREAT song, despite the commercialism. Just like The Church 'Under The Milky Way' (react to that one too!). Their commercial hit, but still a great song.
I like it better if they put Lavender and Heart of lothian all together!
O meu son
Not keen on Marilion, nice though, good reaction👍
Awesome song if you ever do more of this band, try to avoid that terrible 80’s stuff they did with that other singer.... Not a fan of his voice at all
