I love that you started a channel because it’s not mostly romantasy or YA. It’s hard to find booktubers who aren’t focused on those or romance. Not judging those genres but it’s nice to see a good mix of adult books outside of those. Excited about so many of the books you found.
Thank you! I’m there with you. Nothing wrong with YA or romance, but it’s just not what I’m into.
I agree with this so much. And to find one that’s actually likable and has a personality. 🎉
There are other booktubers out there that aren’t just YA and romance and are likable. Just keep an eye out. Out of respect for Ian I won’t mention other booktubers that I watch in his comments without his permission.
@@wolfme4030 I’ve been around booktube for quite a few years, I know of others. But for me, the genuinely likable ones are far outweighed by the “popular” ones. Sorry if my comment seems insensitive, it wasn’t my intention.
@@shandralynne not at all. You like what you like. I do like some of the more popular none YA/Romance tubers that you may not like but I’m also with you that UA-cam appears to have way more creators of those genres than others.
Pet Sematary is INCREDIBLE. One of the most amazing horror books I've ever read. Hope you enjoy it!
Yes Pet Sematary is great and very eerie which I loved
Was the book different than the movie? I’ve already seen movie and if it’s the exact same, I can’t read it, weird I know , But if it’s diff in a sense, then I can read it ??
@@tc8404 I never saw the movie!! Not prepared yet lol
Now we need a video of you reorganizing your bookshelf 🤩
Coming soon😉
Let me guess Ashlynn is behind the camera😂
She sure was😂
I could've finish Red Rising . It was great till the middle, but then, that competition was so childish, violent and out of the way the story was going....but EVERYBODY tells the second book worths going through the first one...
The Stand, it is on by bookshelf since before the pandemic...I never read Stephen King.
You're convincing me to face this big scary book. 😂
Just finished Dark Matter. SO good.
Me too, 5 star read for me!
Excellent haul!
The Pillars of the Earth is phenomenally good. Impeccable storytelling.
Excited for it!!
Yaaassss! Farseer trilogy!!! Also, speaking of Brent Weeks, you should try his Night Angel series (if you haven't already) Dude, I've been wanting to read Pillars of the Earth for like a year now, too (it's so intimidating).
Nice birthday haul and hope you enjoy the reading!
I love bookshopping! 😊
Love a darker shade of magic!!
so many books!! i'm living vicariously through this video haha glad i clicked!
That Rush book looks incredible! Great choices.
I read Pet Cemetery as a teen, scared the mess out of me and I’m just now thinking about reading a King book again in my mid 50’s. 😂😂
Love it!!😂 King is such a good author!! You can’t go wrong, honestly!!
The Expanse Series is a great sci-fi, defiantly recommend!
Movie rec: "I love you, man" with Paul Rudd and Jason Segal. Rom/com, lots of Rush references. "Slappa da bass mon" lmao
Dark Matter is my first introduction to Blake Crouch….and I’m hooked!
Excited to try his books!!
Warlord chronicles will not disappoint. Cornwell is great.
Dark Matter is so good!
Pillars of the earth is amazing❤❤
Hi 👋 like ur vlog, good books ur bought! Happy reading to you!! 🎉
I read Pillars of the Earth many moons ago and loved it!!!! I hope you do too! Also just picked up Wool but haven't read it yet! And the Darker Shades series is on my "to buy list". Enjoy
Thank you!! What a small world, we both just picked up Wool!
Dark Matter has been on my TBR forever! Nice Jeep 🤚🏻
Why thank you!!
8:02 😮 Dark Matter is soooo good
Cornwell’s books are fantastic, I’ve been reading the Saxon Tales series and have really been enjoying them. Great book haul!
My husband absolutely loves Dark Matter and Recursion by Blake Crouch. Those two are some of his favorite books 😊
Really!? Makes me even more excited to read them!
I always enjoy Ashlynn and your blogs. Happy birthday!
Thank you so much!!
I'm so excited for you to read The Lies Of Locke Lamora!!!!
Happy Birthday Ian
Thank you so much!!
Happy birthday!🎉
Thank you so much!!
Rush is one of my fav bands too! I saw them in concert in 2010 and it was incredible.
I bet!
Happy belated birthday, Ian 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!!
Hey Ian! I was wondering if you had heard of the Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. It's a fantasy paranormal-ish YA series that revolves around the hunt for the grave of a Welsh king. It is believed that whoever finds his grave will be granted a wish. I don't see a lot of people talking about it, but I quite enjoyed both it and it's spin-off series The Dreamer Triology. I think the form of magic is very interesting, and the characters are super well crafted in my opinion.
Powder mage and The gentleman bastard series are both some of my favorites
Dark Matter is one of my favorite books ever. I read it 6 years ago and I still think about it. An amazing quick read!
That last book sounds like one that will be one of your top favorites for this year. Can't wait to hear your review.
I think so, too!
Happy birthday 🎉
Thank you so much!!
Lies of Locke Lamora is so good!!
Okay, that's one hell of a book haul! And I was going to say you guys were slowly running out of space on those shelves :D
Had to build a new bookshelf (video coming soon)!
Happy belated birthday! You and Ashlynn have so quickly become my comfort book tubers! I have just restarted my reading journey. Thanks for documenting yours it’s super motivating! I’d love to see some more videos of your favorites! (Ex: Fav horror, thriller, dystopian etc.)
Thank you so much! Makes me happy knowing you’ve rediscovered the love of reading!! I will definitely be making videos of those kinds!!
Happy Belated Birthday 🎉
Thank you so much!!
Pet Cemetery and Christine were the two King books that freaked me out the most. Farseer is WONDERFUL! And Pillars of the Earth was a great series!
I’ve heard so many great things about The Darker Shade of Magic series. The first one is on my wishlist. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
The gentlemen bastards series is fantastic! Locke and Jean is one of my favorite friendships of all time! Hope you enjoy!
I love that you take us book shopping with you! It would also be amazing to support an independent bookstore sometimes 😊 and happy birthday 🎉 great book haul - I’m excited to see the next reading montage and hear your thoughts and reviews! Keep up the good work 🤓
Ash and I would love to support independent bookstores. Unfortunately, in our area NONE exist. It’s really sad.
@@iangubeli oh no! Might be time for a road trip! 😉
@@sarajdidion651 ooooh I see what you’re doing!🤔 you’re giving me a blog idea😂
All of these look so cool! Definitely looking forward to the reading vlogs - especially for Pet Sematary!
I have a video planned for it already!😉
Just finished Farseer trilogy, it's obsoletely great! Loved every minute! Can't wait to start Madship trilogy!
okay here is an idea READING ROBIN HOBB FOR A WEEK which is basically reading the farseer trilogy vlog.
thanks for such a nice book shopping + haul video! tbr is expanded✅
I might just do that!!
i am SOOO excited for you to read The Darker Shades of Magic series!!! it’s my favorite series ever! i hope you enjoy it!!
My favorite type of video from one of my favorite UA-camrs💛
Why thank you!!
I’m a September baby too! Happy Birthday!
Thank you so much!! And happy belated/early birthday!!
I don't like long books at all, but Pillars of the Earth is one of my absolute favorite books in the world! It's a mini series with Hayley Atwell, Eddie Redmayne and Rufus Sewell. I HIGHLY recommend watching it.
Makes me want to read it even more!!
Dark Matter is so good. My husband also read it and really enjoyed it and he’s not much of a reader
The Farseer trilogy!!! I’m almost done with royal assassin it’s incredible!
Ahhhh! Commented about Pet Sematary before seeing you got Pillars of the Earth. One of my absolute favorite books. Really hope you love it as much as I do!
And Pillars…I still have no idea if I’m going to do a dedicated video for it or what! But I know it’s going to be amazing!
Bernard Cornwall is great and I have enjoyed everything I have read by him. Haven't read that series yet. Ken Follett is probably my favorite author. Pillars of the Earth is my favorite book, and I've read it 3 times. Will probably read it again. Such a great story.
Excited to read these authors soon!!
I gonna read a darker shade of magic in october, im so excited
I love this channel
Thank you!!
Aww . The ladies in your life sound lovely ❤
They are!!!
I really want to read Robin Hobb... also have Lies of Locke Lamora on my tbr!
Great books can't wot to see how you enjoyed all these books. Happy late birthday, and my birthday is tomorrow. Sohappy reading 🎉
Happy birthday!! And thank you so much!!
I've recently purchased Pet Sematary so I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Happy Belated Birthday & enjoy your new reads x
Thank you so much!!
The Lies of Locke Lamora is my all-time favourite fantasy book! I love it and Locke. I read it when it came out, or shortly after, and it blew my mind. The sequels to it weren't as great to me but I am still waiting on book 4 since 2016 or so. My amazon wishlist tells me that :P It is the bottom book. If you don't mind slow paced books, you will LOVE Robin Hobb. Her character studies are impressive and I love Fitz. I have read many King books, Pet Sematary also just this year, and "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" was my first and still to this day one of my favourites. Never entered a forest by myself since reading it back in 2002, I think. You had a great haul! Hope you will enjoy all of them.
Thank you!! Excited to jump into these reads, especially Hobb! I love a good slow burn with lots of character work!
Oh my! You just blew my TBR out of the water. 😂😂You definitely got some great books which I added to my list. I love Robin Hobb. Pet Cemetery is brutal, but in the very best way. And, Pillars of the Earth, is sublime…well it’s Ken Follet after all🤷🏻♀️Happy belated birthday from a September baby as well!!🎉🎉🎂
Thank you so much!! And happy birthday to you as well!!!
Great book haul! Pillars of the Earth is one of my favorite books. You get so invested with the characters and what they go through. Two scenes in the book were so emotional for me. I had tears in my eyes. When a book brings out emotions it is a keeper. I do not reread books, there are so many. But i did reread this one. 3 times. The next book in the series World Without End is a must read. Im looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the book. Thank you for putting more books in my TBR! Lol. Enjoy your reading and Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳
WOW!! Makes me want to stop everything now and read it! And thank you so much!!!
Lies of Locke Lamora is fantastic and one of my favorite books. The dialogue and depiction of friendship is just fantastic.
That’s what I’ve heard! Can’t wait to jump into it.
I used to read a lot of Fantasy some Sci-Fi but I got in a rut and during the pandemic I discovered the Cozy Mystery genre and I have really been enjoying them....there are SO MANY so they have been added to my library but I wanted to get back into Fantasy and wasn't sure what good authors to look for. The Trilogies you got look like something I would like reading so I will have to keep an eye out for them. Thank you for sharing. I think I have read all of the Stephen King books....he scares me on the imagination that is in his head to write the books that can give someone nightmares....lol
I just found your channel. I'm so excited. You just hauled many books I've read and enjoyed. Hope you enjoy and love them too!
Thank you so much!! Glad you here!
I highly recommend the mortal instruments series I think you would really like it since it’s a fantasy series.
Pet Sematary is so amazing. Just finished my reread and since becoming a father 3 years ago, it just hit so different. Even better than my first time reading it! And thanks for making my TBR even longer than it already was😂 Pillars of the Earth sounds amazing.
My pleasure! I’m thinking Pet Semetary is going to blow my mind! Same with Pillars!!
Good luck with the farseer trilogy
I absolutely enjoyed pillars of the earth it's totally worth a read
The gentleman bastard series is really good
i love how you and ashlynn are dipping your toes into other genres: i’m now starting reading thrillers & stephen king books, when last year everything i read was romance & literary fiction :)
I love that!! It’s scary branching out, but it’s so worth it.
Ohh, great haul! You've bought so many good books, but I'm especially looking forward to you reading Pet Sematary! It's my favourite King novel :)
I found my mom's old german copy in our dusty attic when I was around 9 years old and I remember inhaling the book, liks it was candy 😂 Safe to say I sh*t my pants in some passages, but I just couldn't put it down.
Since you've been enjoying "The Stand" and "It" so much, I think you'll really love this book :)
I’m hoping so! Definitely anticipating it the most!
Im so glad you got Lies of Locke Lamora 😭. And the farseer trilogy!!!!I’m almost done with the first book. I’m liking it so far, it’s slow but with purpose. I like the atmosphere she creates. I def would love to see vlogs of both of these! 😊
Very excited to jump into it!! And, I have some brainstorms of what to do with both!
Dark Matter is so good!! Nice quick pace
So excited for GB series- you should have bought full trilogy
Really enjoyed Powder Mage but not the follow up trilogy as much
Just finished Silo series- you will enjoy
Also have Cornwell on my TBR
happy bday
Thank you!!!
Rush is my favorite! That series is on my radar. And Geddy Lee's memoir is coming out in November if you're interested in biographies!
I would love to read a Geddy book!
I want Ian to read some manga/manhwa/manhua in the future. I know that there are some iconic works (horror, fantasy, etc.) and would like him to read Full metal Alchemists as one of them. Considering that buying them will be expensive, maybe borrow them from the library? Maybe a library haul or such? Just something to broaden his reading (and a quick read, too).
this is amazing! thats a lot of money to spend on books call me jealous! lol!
Couldn’t have managed a haul like that without help😉
Ian, love your videos! Me and my wife watch you and your wife’s content every time it drops. You are a part of the reason I’m getting into reading (never been a big reader). Wouldn’t call myself a “reader” yet but I’m reading more than I ever have. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!! That truly means so much. And I am stoked that you’re getting into reading!! Honestly, it took me forever, but once I found my niche I never looked back!! What books have you been dipping into??
@@iangubelibeen reading some Fantasy. Just finished The Adventures of Amina Al Sirafi, pretty good pirate book!
@@kibblebro4032 I’ve seen that book around. Would you recommend it?
@@iangubeli for sure! I was playing Sea of Thieves a lot at the time as well so the pirate vibes were soooo good! It’s very interesting and feels like it plays on the boundary of historical fiction and fantasy. It will be a trilogy and I’m so excited for the next one to come out.
@@kibblebro4032 I am all there for a blending of genres! And what, pray tell, is Sea of Thieves??
Pet Sematary Vlog!! Yes please!!
In the works😉
I have Pillars of the Earth too!
Hopefully it’s good! I hear nothing but good reports!
I also play drums! Neil Peart is one of my favorite drummers of all time
Neil is a giant!!
dark matter is one of my favorite books! loved it
That’s really good to hear!!
I def wanna read Dark Matter!
I would love to see what you think!
Interesting choices! Pet Semetary is a great read. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on Bernard Cornwell. If you enjoy him, I'd suggest to read The Last Kingdom. I've watched the Netflix series and I've read books 1-5🤔and they're steller. It's a series I need to finish. I started watching Silo on Apple TV and it's gotten me intrigued to read the series.
Anything to do with Vikings catches my interest!! I think Cornwell will be a favorite author!
Oh I have been going back and forth with the winter king and that series. I can't wait to see what you think
Also, the Realm of the Elderlings is my absolute favourite series of all time. Hope you love it and hope it doesn't break you too much because I'm still recovering 😅
Still recovering!?😂 Makes me want to jump into ASAP!
Do a bookshelf re-do video!
In the works!!
Dark Matter is amazing, blake crouch's books make you think like crazy
That’s what I was hoping for!!
Oh, are you in for a ride! You chose some excellent books! Two more series I would recommend is the sci-fi/fantasy series The Long Earth by Pratchett/Baxter, I much prefer that one to Wool. And of course Stephen Kings fantasy series The Dark Tower which is brilliant (but the first book is weird and nothing like the rest...)!
I need to check out Pratchett! You are the second person to recommend that particular series to me, so now it’s on my radar! And the Dark Tower is incredible! One of my favorite series of all time!!
Omg I just read gallant by v.e Schwab and absolutely loved it I also purchased the darker shade of magic triology so I’m so so excited to see what you think of it!!
Thank you!! Excited to finally be jumping into Schwab!
Pet Sematary is the only book that had me not wanting to get off the bed in broad daylight for fear something would grab me from under the bed. I was 15/16 when I read it. Can’t wait to see your reaction!
I have been itching to read it ever since I got it! October can’t come fast enough!
Lies of Locke Lamora will not disappoint… it’s incredible
YESSSS SOME OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS IN HERE.
Warlord Chronicles is amazing, however some people don’t click with it because it’s not as Arthur-centric as they would like. I loved it though.
Lies of Locke Lamora I don’t think needs any more said about it-genius from beginning to end.
Pillars of the Earth is maybe one of the best books I’ve ever read. Just know there’s A LOT of weird sexual stuff (both consensual and SA) in Follett’s books. I know you don’t like that in books so probably stuff in there you’ll want to skip.
Good video and nice haul. Excited to hear your thoughts on some of these!
Makes me excited to read ALL of these as soon as I possibly can!
Definitely would love to see a vlog on pillars of the earth and the lies of Locke lamora
I have some ideas brainstorming in my mind for both books! Unsure as of yet what I am going to do for them!
❤📚📚📚❤️ Happy Belated Birthday! Pillars of the Earth on my Fall TBR, but got to admit, I'm scared! 😅
Pillars of the earth is really great and so too is the sequel and the prequel
@@angelaholmes8888 Thank you! Gives me more incentive to get it read! 🤗
@@starlasell5698 and you have reminded me that I need yo read column of fire book 3 in the series
Thank you so much!! You’ve got this! That book sounds too good not to be read!
Bernard Cornwell is the GOAT! Absolutely adore his Saxon Tales. Because of the nature of the story, if you can get past the ideas of Viking paganism and take it with a grain of salt, the story is really awesome and has some of the best characters in fiction. Highly recommend.
I enjoy anything to do with Vikings! If I don’t enjoy the pagan stuff, I’ll just skip around it!!
If you haven’t already you should most definitely look into The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin! It’s a dystopian sci-fi thriller series, science experiment gone wrong, creatures unleashed on the world and just pure amazing chaos!
I almost picked I’m up the first book in that video! I settled in “Pillars of the Earth” instead.
Firstly, happy birthday!! Now, I don’t know if you’ve read Urusula K. Le Gin but recently I watched Studio Ghilbi's adaptation of Tales od the Earthsea (I think that’s what it’s called in English). She’s considered one of the best fantasy authors so I’m curious about her books. Figured you might too!
Thank you so much!! I need to jump into Le Guin books. She sound wonderful!
