I love his pedigree, and Cox is a top gun. If anyone is going to emerge as a superstar, Encino looks like the one. That doesn't meant that he will, but he sure looks to have the potential. I just noticed that he ran very straight in the stretch in the Lexington, and that looks good to me. Since I already have him in future pool 5, I probably will relegate him to other bets besides win or exotic top.
Excellent analysis. With his magnificent 5f workout, outworking Catching Freedom, and a perfect draw beside Just a Touch, Encino IS my Derby horse. Nobody's getting by this horse without a fight. Guts often wins Derbies. P.S. Prat two gates outside of Sierra Leone, is going to bottle up Gafflione if he can. Tyler is really going to have to work some magic. An exacta box with Fierceness of course is a necessary backup.
Pool # 5 & # 6 offered 58 - 1 and 66 - 1 respectively ~ the Oaks / Derby double is 308 - 1 From what I read about the X factor Encino could very well have that "big" heart gene, I like Bernardini mares. Pool # 6 proved to be not as big a risk that many bettors thought, lets hope he get to the gate....js
I feel stupid. I have him in pool 5, and got there too late for pool 6. I always say if I have someone at one set of odds I'm sure going to bet more on him at higher odds. I'm confident that Cox will only enter him if he's in perfect condition. I probably should have just waited till derby day and saved money if he's not ready.
All I want to say is that heavy favorites seldom win the Derby and lose all the time. Just look at 2005 when 5-2 fav Bellamy Road (who finished out of the money) was beaten by long-shot Giacomo, and 2009 when long-shot Mine That Bird beat the favorites Pioneer of the Nile, Dunkirk, and Friesan Fire! And more recently Rich Strike just 2 years ago. So it’s a horse race guys and anything can happen. So don’t be surprised if a long shot comes out of the clouds to win. Good luck to all! 🤞🏼🙏🏼
