This video was soooo good mann especially your aurgment. good job🙌🏿 I always felt like from anything,BHM often doesn’t feel organically when it being appreciated, not just nba but other brands and organizations
Dressing professional does not know race, I don't fully agree that the dress code was only aimed at black culture, i believe it was aimed to make the image of the NBA something more professional and contract trustworthy, and the upside of all of this was seen in some examples, when you wear a tailor made suit, you look like business, and a part of David Stern wanted that, I won't come and say that he didn't have a single drop of racism in his blood, not at all, but the same way as fathers tell you to wear proper clothes for church or eating out, he was forcing the players to look like the millionaire icons they were, he didn't want them to be confused with any random street thug or you know what else, so i would say, it wasn't all that bad, white guys also had to comply, it wasn't just black players being affected. The Kareem fade, for sure, 100% had an impact beyond just putting a rookie back where he belongs, 100% agree.
For sure, Stern even said that he wanted to gain more stake with a “republican audience” when he made the code, so it was a business move. But I also do think race had to do with it a little bit, especially when he uses the word hip-hop as sometime people use that as a code word for Black people. But I do agree with your comment, and thank you for the view and giving feedback, I appreciate it 🙏🏿
