- Composition from West Java, Indonesia. Led by Ujang Suryana, a blind degung composer and considered among the best. The instruments being used are gamelan (an ensemble of tuned gongs, metallophones and drums) and suling (end-blown bamboo flute)
I used to teach art classes at Gymboree play and music in Hawaii. This was a song that I'll play during free paint. I truly believe that this music guided babies into focused art and a sort of calm environment to help them do so. I've seen so much majesty in young children through this act.

this is such a beautiful song... it sounds soooo sad! yet it is such a healing, compassionate song. its almost as if the notes are saying "i understand your pain, its ok, u dont have to hurt anymore". whoever composed this has a beautiful, compassionate heart, full of love.

I was in the LACMA museum gift shop years ago and I heard this song. I asked the lady at the counter who it was and where it was from. She sold me the cd "Music From The Tea Lands". It's so beautiful a song, it was worth buying the whole album just to get this one song. :)

My choice of music for this evening mood (well, it's evening in my place right now). And it was from 4 years ago :-) Yes this is another nostalgic upload.
So sweet, it sounds like the interior of a mind taking a happy stroll :-)
I want to share a story where this music was sounding within my head:
It was Christmas Eve, the most important mass in the year. All the people wore their best clothes... and I was wearing a golden Chinese robe (changshan). I'm a flutist BTW and I just talk before it started so that I could join the music group that was about to perform. They agreed.
So I could finally play and I did it barefoot. I don't know but whenever I hear 'Kang Mandor" I imagine the rainforest or walking barefoot. I felt myself free from what other people could think or say. Let them think I was just crazy or that my robe was unappropriate, I was just being free.
Then I was playing flute and there was the communion where all the people went to grab the bread. I saw four acquintances: they were a family. One of them was a gorgeous lady who had once rejected me. Three years ago, I tried to talk to her but she mercilessly avoided me, which knocked me over morally. Now, they were staring at me with a strange gaze. They did it for two seconds, and I held the gaze. I even grate them.
I had won. Now I was in charge, and thanks to this song.

To be honest, this is not Balinese instruments, this Is Sundanese... We like a brother has a Lot of similarities 🤗 but in the same time we have differences, even though the instruments played with the same things but the melody we can know from what tribe this music Is.

@renzokata Thanks. Interesting interpretation from you. The composer of this song is a blind man, and I believe he has different way to perceive the world, thus has his own imagination and bring certain influence on his composition
