Stevie has good analyse skills. Yes, Vidyut was at that time a newcomer nobody knew him. Then he got a chance in tamil industry to act as a villian opposite big stars like Vijay and Ajith in Thupakki and Billa 2. Vidyut.himself told in an interview that he got offers in Bullywood after the huge succes of Thupakki which also become a hit in north India. When Akshay saw Thupakki he feared that he culdnt match Vidyuts screen presence as Vidyut was a suitable villain for a big star like Vijay so he roped another actor in Vidyuts Villain role.
You should also watch the "Dog detention fight scene" from Thupakki there you can see how well and realistic Vijay can fight.
