(1770-1827)
Zhenni Li, piano
Brahms Piano Sonata No. 3 in F Minor, Op. 5
(1833-1897)
Ying Li, piano
rest in peace professor Fleisher
I think Ying Li was a little nervous to begin, but got more comfortable and showed some of her possibilities. Fleisher's subtle awareness comes through. My impression is that he often heard so completely 'in the music' that finding the words required some sleuthery. In the end it was wonderful!
Brahms Piano Sonata No. 3 in F Minor, Op. 5 [Ying Li, piano]

I rhought I had revised my comment. I meant Zhenni
l
I never really understood why teachers play at the same time as students lol
11:00 mins in and I don't think we've heard a single thing that would make anyone a better pianist.
I feel so sorry for you
Fantastic teacher, very average student.
which one? I see you didnt bother watching the whole video
The Oriental kid had trouble projecting her voice the same way she had trouble understanding and projecting the sonata she played. Fantastic pedagogy. A student who, for reasons personal and cultural, just could not plumb the depths of Beethoven's last piano sonata.
Maybe if he let them play
Gosh, that was embarrassing to watch. Poor kids signed up for a masterclass and got 2 hours of ramblings instead.
They know what they sign up for
I would pay a fortune even for 5 min of this “ rumbling “. What a musician , and a patient , respectful teacher Fleisher is.
@@mackiceicukice Time and place. His ramblings, albeit poetic, are more suited to an interview, or a lecture. Not a masterclass where a student would benefit much more from direct comments concerning their playing.
@@WillWill-tu7ew True....but this is a different tupe of masterclass.
Good teacher, but poor student! That was awaste of his time.
Poor student!!??? Many of us wish we could play as well as her. She really is quite excellent as a budding, young pianist. And this Beethoven Op. 111 is a significantly challenging sonata (to put it mildly) in terms of both technique and interpretation. Can you do better, koroszo? I'd contend that folks should regard your comment as a waste of time.
koroszo I thought her playing was quite excellent. I can tell you are not a musician. If you know music, you wouldn't say such thing.
A real musician wouldn't make such an errant criticism. She is a fantastic musician and far beyond adequate as a student. Fliesher doesnt seem to think she' a poor student..?
it seems youve fk it
If all students played like Rubinstein, the teachers would be redundant.
