I have not watched the episode yet, but you guys are some of the few people I have personally seen who talk about the paranormal that actually have a good idea of what is going on. Most other people I have personally seen don't know the truth about it.
Hi guys, thank you for the new episode! This is so ironic that the topic is essentially centered around the sea. My dad, who is a navy veteran, went into hospice care tonight. He is slipping away fast, it's been a VERY emotionally long and draining day and I desperately need help decompressing to try to get a decent five hours of sleep before we start emptying his place. Thank you for this episode. I love the thoughtful conversation that considers the unknown in light of God's word and our faith in His plan. (I hope that sounds as coherent as it seems to.)
Wendigoon actually intriguingly a while back, talked about many angels and their supposed jobs outside of the types we know today, like the powers, principlalities, cherubim, and seraphim. It's a great educational video if one ever peaks the interest.
Finally an episode I'm not too chicken to listen to 😂😅 Total chills regarding the rebuke of the loch ness monster in the name of Christ ❤ God bless you guys!
@@tylerthegrimm Basically everything these guys talk about. Tony Merkel is the host and he's also a born again Christian. It's on youtube and it's a podcast.
I dont known if you know, but the Westminster E-confession says that “no more than one My Guy, or My Brother in Christ, may be used per podcast in order to avoid bringing the great E-scandal of cringe upon the Church”
I'm really glad you guys circled back around to this after it was the topic of your very first episode. There's so much you can cover. I hope you do the same with several other topics from previous episodes. Also, so excited to read your book about Chili's.
I’m so glad you’re covering the topic of mermaids! I’ve done some research on my own, and from a Christian perspective it’s not always great even though I love mermaid things and have been collecting them for years. Really compelling episode and one of my favorites from you guys! Nobody talks about this stuff and especially from fellow serious Christian’s like you, I really appreciate it. Feels like I found good company.
Oh don’t worry I’ve already got my conference tickets 😎 I’m impressed, you don’t hear about some of these sea monsters often, such as aspidochelone. Good work, kings 👑
I don't think they would sponsor a show like this due to the fact that they actually take the bible serious and that is considered wrong in this current time we are in.
Man I'm sure if you guys did dedicate a whole chapter of your book to the high strangeness that can happen at Chili's it would become an automatic New York Times best seller. Just saying, you might want to consider it.
Douglas Van Dorn's take on some of the odder levitical prohibitions such as no mixing of fabric types is really one of the better explanations I've heard for it. Specifically in light the Sons of God mixing with the daughters of man it would be understandable to have laws that showed the value of purity, ie not mixing unlike things. And seriously, if this topic interests you, you owe it to yourself to read his book, Giants.
I’m just a little over half an hour into this episode and so far I’m loving it. The way you guys tie CS Lewis, Tolkien and other fictional stories into real ones and show how God’s story encompasses all other stories causes me to just sit here sometimes in awe and wonder of God’s holiness and majesty. What would the world have looked like if you guys had never started this podcast? One thing I know for certain: there’d be less, for lack of a better word, entertainment that glorifies God.
The Voyagers of St Brendan is how I was introduced to Brian 2 years ago. I took part in a collegiate Bible course for men called Noblemen. During the end of the course when we all lived with each other for a week, the leaders played the Voyage of St Brendan to wake us up. Now that I lead the course this year I plan on doing the same thing. The song is nostalgic to me
I’m reading the Silmarillion now, thanks in part to you both. Wow, talk about world-building. It’s mind blowing the amount of effort he put into creating this fictional world!
Are you guys reading my thoughts?! On Sunday, I was flipping the tv and watched a few minutes of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie that had mermaids in it. I thought to myself, I hope Brian and Ben do a mermaid episode. And voila! Wish fulfillment achieved!
It is very nice to see and hear a story from Tolkien presented this way. Also, it will be good for enthusiasts to see visual interpretations from the legendarium by many different artists, so we can appreciate that there are many ways of envisioning Tolkien.
I'm not even slightly drawn to the sea. Sorry Brothers. In fact, an ocean cruise would be hellish for me. Give me mountains, bubbling streams, conifer forest, moss, & birds singing.
I find it interesting that given all the different rabbit holes you guys are literate in, the book of Enoch seems to be one you are not on board with. Or at least it seems that’s your opinion from this episode. I’d love to hear you guys dive into why you feel this way. From my understanding, the book of Enoch is still part of the Ethiopian bible which is interesting for sure. The themes in Enoch parallel so much of the strange happenings pre-flood that would explain most of the high strangeness you guys are interested in.
even though it ain’t in the bible it makes so much logical sense in accordance with the tale told in Enoch and Genisis. everything in the world is a complete lie so this isn’t even remotely shocking. glory to the most high for allowing me to find y’all’s channel. much love🙏🏻🙏🏻

Really hooked on watching your show guys. Was always into folklore and mystery stories and glad a Christian view is on this stuff. I would like to hear your thoughts on the Jersey Devil which I believe is a Pterodactyl and Dimorphodon. Even a two part would be great on the Pine Barrens since other weird stories come from there such as people missing.
It is amazing how dangerous and difficult it was 100s of years ago even with large well equipped sailing ships. Nowadays families frequently cross vast oceans in a 30-40 foot sailboats, spending summers on tropical islands and visiting Europe when they please, all thanks to modern navigational aids.
Loved this episode! Has anyone actually found the Poipu encounter footage? I followed the link on the website but there was no video. Also, the Tolkien references were spot on ;)
The Book of Enoch is interesting. While not part of the canonical list of Scripture, Jude directly quotes from the text & cites the excerpt as a genuine prophecy of Christ, and other sections of Enoch are quoted or paraphrased throughout the New Testament. So I would argue it's got at least some divinely revealed Truth in it. Note that this applies only to Enoch 1 and none of the others.

I was gonna request mermaids The ocean draws you in through a weakness that kills many. Why would sailors stare into the water and speak of a beautiful woman? Loneliness plays its games, the sailor would die for the sake of companionship, real or imagined.
I was listening to season 1 episode 1 last night, similar topic to this episode, and then I read Jude and 2 Peter 2. Could the different "Atlantises" around the world be something alluded to in some verses there as they talk about apostates? "Spots (or reefs?) In your feasts" "These are wells without water" "Clouds that are carried about of tempests" "Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame." The best podcast. I've been playing episodes on late night road trips with family. It's been great. Have you guys discussed the ancient accounts of dog men, aka "cynocephali"?
