Wow! Thanks for showing me the paper towel to hold nut in socket trick! Wish I knew that 60 years ago l

I agree, that’s a cool little trick of the trade. I love magnets, usually I’ll take a rare earth magnet and rub it across the socket and nut or bolt, and it usually helps.

Nice job. My mechanic quoted me $633.00 to do this job and that's with me furnishing parts. Outch!

Almost worth it, shrugs, not a super rip off, I'd say.
I'm replacing my back hatch window on my RX300,
they wanted 700-1100 for the job, I thought what
a freeking rip off, but as I'm 1/2 way through ,I'm
realizing that after the ordeal of finding out JUST how
to remove the spoil on the roof (acckk), and removing
old glass, to the 'science' of ordering the right combination
of adhesive, applicator, tools, primer etc, not to mention
the many hours of labor, and overall mystery of the 'project'
+ the price of the used glass, I'm not really saving that much lol.
When it's done, I may have saved myself $300 against an
      $1100 invoice... shrugs....
As far as this thermostat project, Toyota did us no favors
that is for sure, the engineers had their
'Stealerships' in mind when they designed the cooling
      system.

      @@beefjorkey Good luck, the rest
      should be pretty easy.
I didn't do mine right, had some
trapped air, but it worked out
      eventually.

did the check engine pop up for the thermostat when that happened? My v6 3.0 has a check engine light on when diagnosed at a local autoparts store it said the thermostat needs to be replaced and for this engine it looks like a job for me to do it on my own especially when i have never done that. and thanks for the video very informative and detailed.

2002 ES300 here. Changed thermostat today, a lot of coolant leaked upon opening thermostat housing.
Is it really as simple as filling coolant after, where do you fill... through reservoir or radiator cap ?

5:35 Did you ever find a part number or even
    a name for that O ring? I have a 2001 RX300 ,
I think these parts would be the same, V6 3.L.

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  Рік тому +1

Just take your old O ring to any auto parts store and have them match it. Should be less than a $1.

It’s probably rusted on there. Try spraying some penetrating oil on it and tapping the edges to break the rust loose.
