Love this guy’s painting technique and tongue-in-cheek bravura! These are the best abstract painting demonstrations on UA-cam. This is abstract-with form and technique. The freeness and looseness conveys great movement in the painting. I think he may ACTUALLY be the greatest living artiste!

It's amazing the way you mix colours so loosly on the canvas and those free brush strokes which eventually give out such an amazing picture. Thank you for showing us that. I think I found my style. Free, loose brush strokes that come from within you. I am a relatively new in this but I feel so strongly that I love to learn to paint. I hope one day to be able to create paintings like yours with of course my own style. Joy to watch you. Thanks

Your comments are spot on! It took me years to give myself permission to paint how my instincts were leading instead of what and how I should paint. I am enjoying painting once again! Thank you for sharing.

The desire to become better is a constraint. Thank you!!! The pressure to sell is another constraint. It all has to be thrown out of the studio. I painted live for the first time a couple weeks ago. Not only was it totally fun, but the need to entertain my audience kept me working fast, with no time for censorship.

I sit here and watch you. How do you do that! You chat away and yet your brush falls just in the right place. You create a wonder painting. A gift I struggle to find. I will watch you again and again then maybe the shutter will open. Thank you.

Good stuff Jose! You have some drive man, thats for sure! Your style has grown on me, been watching all of your paint brush vids. I was skeptical at first but after really watching your process, i can tell youve devoted tons of time honing your craft. Ive been painting for 2 years and strive to get looser. I usually have great movement and energy in the early stages (i use acrylic) and i tend to tighten up as it progresses. So youve been very inspiring to me to just keep going with speed and energy throughout the painting. Thanks a lot!

Hi Jose, I really enjoy watching you paint and hearing what you have to say. Especially as what you have to say really has given me some validation of my own process. I too have a very loose quick style, and have always thought in the back of my mind that i am 'doing it wrong' ! Only recently have i actually had the courage to give my loose 'lazy' style any credit at all ! In no way do I have the experience that you do, but after watching you talk and paint I am starting to see that I do have some experience, and my brush does know where to go, and I'm not just pretending (not all the time anyway !) !! Ha ha, here I am rabbiting on about myself ! But just wanted to say thanks, this painting is absolutely lovey and I will continue to listen and watch your stuff! Cheers, Soph

Just at the beginning at your demo and you got me already with the note on some artists making it seems complicated! Same impression, though oil medium is on my learning table. And this is valid for all mediums, depends on the temperament of the person and personal search and artistic goal.

Hello, I know your works from a Facebook page and kept wondering how you could say” had fun doing this , hope you enjoy it.” Now I can see why! I am a huge fan of both your style & your philosophy. One question is ‘do you always paint the background last’? I have trouble making soft edges, any suggestions? And do you paint wet on wet ? Grazie e bravo! 👏👏👏

Amazing channel, love your work ! When you were referring to the talk where the speaker mentions recognising your strengths.. for an artist how does one know whether he or she is good at say landscapes or abstracts ? Does feedback from people around you decide whether one style or subject painted is better than the other?

I just discovered your channel and I already love it, calming and relateable. I was browsing UA-cam so I could get back into oil painting I use to be great at it when I was in high school but as myself I would always complicate things. Now I'm trying to go for a simpler approach. Do you recommend any type of supplies such as paint brands and tools?

I have to ask... do you have a thought that makes you paint a certain color in a certain spot? You seem to paint quickly, and it just makes me wonder how you decide what colors go where and how much of it. I loved this UNTIL you put the light pink in the bottom left corner... it looks like an afterthought even tho i didnt like the green that was there before it.... do you recall why you put it there?

You're right, people do over-complicate it. There are even help forums where artists seek help but all the artists are "afraid" to give out basic info because they think they're giving away a big family secret if they tell anyone how to, say, make burnt umber. Art was simple when you were a child, it should be simple as an adult too.

The zone is that place where Jason Bourne is sitting in a diner, sizing up the people and things around him, yet being clueless as to who he is or how he knows these things. Lol. That's the zone.

Some cool stuff. His art work is no better than a lot of other painters I know. Above average but not outstanding. I think he spends more energy selling himself as a brand than actually painting.

You need to put a clean surface behind your finished painting!!!. The heavily painted painted easel makes it impossible to distinguish your painting from the paint covered easel . The viewer NEVER gets a clear view of your wonderful painting. Thank you!!!!!
