This is so beautiful. It warms my heart and I feel myself getting a little emotional watching this. How cockatoos just freely fly around in a very spacious park and socializing with the folks is just a lovely sight.
This is amazing and really how you should be seeing them. Out in the wild like this, coming to people because they want to, not because they have no choice as pets. Anyway, don't mean to rant, this was just so cool to watch.
Actually Parrots can live for decades in captivity and develop genuine affection with their owners. Intelligent as they are, I'm sure the captive ones appeciate the care that their owners give them.
yortko1 I've no doubt good owners take care of their pet birds and give them the best life they can but you're still keeping a highly intelligent creature in a cage, in an environment it's absolutely not equipped to deal with. In the wild they live in huge open spaces and fly in massive groups. Unlike say a dog or cat which can live a relatively normal life doing the same kinds of things it would back when it was a wild animal, birds tend to be stuck in a cage and on rare occasions let out into a 20x20 foot area where it can't even do what it was born to do, fly. And when you bring in bad owners or owners that just aren't educated in just how demanding parrots in general are to be as happy as possible, it's a pretty miserable deal for the bird overall, at least compared to the deal they get living free in the wild, having families and a giant community they're part of.
Cockatoos are the friendlist of parrots even when they are in the wild, everyday they come up to my balcony waiting for me to play with them and give them little treats!
Thanks for this video, how lovely. Easy to see that they are both experienced with interacting with big parrots :) I've been up close & personal with a few cockatoos and it takes a bit of getting used to
I had a cocky for a few years once. I had to let it go back in the wild because I felt that's where he belonged, with his friends. Lovable bird though. They do come to you when they're hungry.
Luke Oh yes, they do. Cockatoos live well over 100 years. They are tough and adjust to the wild easily simply by eating crubs and anything they can find when they forage in groups, one watches the other on what to eat. The bird I had was young and wasn't really tame. I only purchased it with the others when I had a pet shop, and when I closed it in 1987, I took him home and trained the basics such as not to chew my furniture. He wouldn't stop, so I realized he belonged to the wild. Too old for a pet and proper training. A proper companion bird starts at 2 week of age. That's when they're really tame and then stays with the family like a dog does.
We have thousands of these around where I live, you see them in huge groups everywhere, especially the young ones. And also the rose breasted cockatoos (Galahs), and heaps of cockatiels
I live in Australia and yes the cockatoos, coreellas, lorikeets etc all will land on you and take food from you in most of the parks... Yes they are wild but so many humans have fed them over the years that they know humans mean food... :) I own quite a few birds and have hundreds more that visit daily to be fed... :)
Yeah I see so many of them where I live. Trust me they are everywhere well Im in Sydney so their are lots of them :) everyday they would come to our balcony and we gave them small biscuits 5 of them at a time would come.
strange question. i think the only thing they are afraid of is if the birds are all going to land on them at once or fight over the food. but, i don't think there's any danger that they will go away, since cockatoos are smart so they know humans come there with food all the time.
Glyphosate laden white flour crackers. Go and buy some sack of seeds instead. You can get 3 kilo for almost nothing. Hemp, sunflower, with peel on them.
Sadly you could not do that in an urban city here in America anymore. Somebody's stray dog or a park pit bull would kill them instantly before anyone knew what was happening. That or someone would claim your bird attacked their child or pet and you would be sued into oblivion.

They live for about 80 + years
@@YortOK Not a single bird wants to live in a cage. They like to fly... that's why they have wings.
That's fantastic. Cockatoo's are very smart, friendly and gentle birds. It's amazing to see them flying around freely. :)

+Mick Carson I hope you live in Australia and you're aware it probably died?
Luke

The bird. pets don't survive in the wild
Luke

we should live like this living in harmony with each other creatures.
We have thousands of these around where I live, you see them in huge groups everywhere, especially the young ones. And also the rose breasted cockatoos (Galahs), and heaps of cockatiels
Akane Cortich. Never heard them called a rose breasted cockatoo before.
@DOUG HEINS They are not native to the rest of the world. So let's call them by their proper name, a Galah.

This is how birds should live, not in cages in people's homes.

Que lindoooos

Cockys can crush walnuts, with beaks like bolt cutters, dogs know to keep well away!
I'm pretty sure these are wild...
Why not anymore? Have 'dogs must be kept on leash in the park' law been abolished over there?
Or quickly learn
Americas doesnt have cockatoos in wild to begin with LMAO
I WANNA GO THERE SO BADLY! :O
That's amazing!!!
自分もここでコッカドゥーに囲まれた。アーモンドやヒマワリの種は好物なのにピーナッツあげると噛み砕いた上で吐き出してたw
