Isaiah Mack should i bring an ostrich inside since they like baths then.....use common sense. obviously a chicken has no purpose being an indoor house pet, so it doesnt need to be in your house....a macaw is a housepet so it utilizes the amenities in relation to the wild
i hope you all know clipping a birds wings is not surgery. they just cut off a few feathers. they grow back in a few months. they can still also glide, and use their wings to fly for an extremely short duration. it's nothing like getting a cats claws removed.
+alonzilla Pretty sure they're under the order Psittacformes which is the parrot branch of the bird class. It includes Macaws, Conures, African Greys, and my derpy quaker parrot Hazel. So yes, infact they are parrots. The Order also includes Cockatoos (Australian native, they have their own family separate from all the other parrots) and the various hookbilled birds native to New Zealand (though they also have a separate family)
To all the people saying that she is wrong in clipping his wings. Look at his tail. She probably clipped his wings because parrots (or birds in general) cannot fly well without a tail. With wings and no tail he could get himself injured, as he wouldn't be able to turn quickly. And I know this because I have a cockatiel that lost his tail feathers. They're growing back yes but I clipped his wings for the small time being. Specifically so he wouldn't hurt himself.
Birds love the water, My friend races pigeons and you should see how they act when you mist water into there Very large gages. They love it. These birds in this video are awesome. The Mcaw can think almost like a 5 year old and mimic many traits out side of being noisey they are awesome birds.
They need it for healthy feathers and hygiene. Every animal needs some sort of hygiene, like us humans. Also if you plan on washing your bird get a spray to spray them with or a shower perch to shower them with. Or they might bathe themselves in their water dish.
Birds that live in a house need wings clipped for their own safety. There are no nerves in the feathers that are cut, so there is no pain. It is not cruel, it is standard practice. Educate yourself, please. These birds are clearly healthy, they don't pluck their feathers, and are very vocal and happy. Please, just educate yourself before spewing nonsense.
i am not fan of that wild animals becoming pets ... its against their nature also .. but if you say "for their safety" i am not saying anything you know better it seems
ümit kırtıl If you don't think animals should be pets, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But just because you disagree with something doesn't mean it's cruel. Wing trimming is perfectly painless and increases safety in most cases. Hence, the plea to educate yourself rather than spewing nonsense.
Do you think 2 large birds would fit? No. Also, macaws should get dominate, so if the red one went and hopped right on the other would get mad, and if she took the blue macaw down while it was still his turn he would throw a tantrum or attack.
Lol if youre uneducated, do not comment on whats best for these birds. Just as its safer to keep a dogs nails trimmed down, its safer for birds to not have a ridiculous length of feathers! As with many things, there is no harm if its done properly Your silly two cents is not needed. Thank you.
Thank you. The logic of some of these people is both ignorant and infuriating. I'm guessing it mainly comes from those who have never even seen a parrot in person, let alone owned one and been familiar with the risks. But of course they know what's best for these birds. Armchair activists at their finest.
All you people saying it's wrong to own a parrot or it's abuse to clip their wings or we should ban or restrict companion parrots, where are all your complaints about keeping dogs and cats as pets? Especially cats since unlike with dogs you can't just breed the wild instinct out of them. Or horses, or gerbils, or ferrets? Where are all your complaints about animal abuse when a dog has its genitals medically mutilated or a cat has its claws ripped out? Because I've been to some dog and cat videos and as far as I can tell as long as they don't come from a puppy mill you people are down with the idea of people keeping them as pets. Oh that's right, those are the kinds of animals that YOU like, that YOU keep as pets, and you don't want people telling YOU what to do with YOUR companion animals, but when the animal in question is one that you aren't particularly interested in, all of a sudden it's an exotic graceful species that should only exist in the wild or in zoos. Many of you clearly know nothing about birds or else you would know that clipping their wings is for their own safety. And I would agree that clipping them so short that they are completely grounded is unnecessary, but keep in mind that water adds a lot of weight. Or maybe Tonka is a baby. Or maybe he was "born" unable to fly. Or maybe his vet wasn't very experienced in birds and wasn't a real avian vet (we bird people don't have the entire pet industry tailored to our animals' needs like all you dog and cat lovers). And as far as Tonka wanting to get up higher, I could see that and I think the owner could also, but in case you didn't watch the first half of the video there was another bird on the shower perch who had not finished his shower. What did you want her to do, take the first one out in the middle of his shower or take Tonka out just so you wouldn't get upset at this video? Okay, so she's guilty of neglecting to install a second perch, is that really animal abuse in your eyes? In case you forgot, the reason this video is supposed to be funny and cute is because Tonka didn't WAIT HIS TURN (and for us bird lovers, because pretty much everything birds do besides defecating is cute). It has been illegal in the US to import and sell wild caught birds since 1992. Tonka does not "belong in the rainforest" because he would be killed within 72 hours or so. If you want to argue that the whole idea of breeding birds like Tonka for companion animals is wrong to begin with, well that's a different argument, but again, I don't hear these complaints for any other group of animals that are about as intelligent as birds other than like lions and baboons. And if "bird mills" is your concern then you really should raise that concern on videos about budgies and cockatiels instead, because most birds that you consider exotic are from small independent breeders rather than bird farms because like I said the pet industry doesn't exactly revolve around us bird owners.
And unlike you dog and cat people, our companion animals don't escape and start breeding self sufficient populations that go around killing livestock, harming children, spreading diseases to other domesticated animals, damaging property, and severely disrupting their ecosystems wherever they go. We also don't have pubic service announcements begging us to spay and neuter our pets because 25 thousand of them are euthanized each year within one metropolitan area alone. Think about that for a second before you decide that you should have to go through pre-ownership counseling before buying a parrot.
cats and dogs have been domestic animals for thousands of years...unlike a macaw parrot from the Amazon! Also, if one where to de-nail their cat, I too would find this cruel. Furthermore, by owning a cat or dog, your not restricting the animal's natural behaviour to bark, meow, scratch, dig and walk on all fours. By owning a parrot and clipping it's wings, you are straight away, taking away from it what it was built to naturally do, that is FLY!
"Also, if one where to de-nail their cat, I too would find this cruel. " Well in that case you are in the minority, because cat owners have their cats declawed all the time and no one raises a stink. "cats and dogs have been domestic animals for thousands of years...unlike a macaw parrot from the Amazon!" Like I said, even over thousands of years you can't just breed the natural instinct out of cats. They still retain much of it and that's why they go feral so easily. "By owning a parrot and clipping it's wings, you are straight away, taking away from it what it was built to naturally do, that is FLY!" Not unless you clip all of the flight feathers all the way, which most bird owners don't. It merely limits their ability to fly, not take it away, just like keeping a cat limits its ability to climb things. Stop classifying birds by the one distinguishing characteristic you know about them. Birds can be as happy in captivity as dogs and cats, and when they do have depression and start plucking it's usually a result of lack of space or interaction with their owners rather than having their wings clipped.
There is an organization right now called Isabella's Aviary founded by a twelve year old terminally ill girl and her mother that breeds companion birds for disabled children. If some of you busybody control freaks had your way, that would be gone, because families with disabled children would have a mighty difficult time dealing with the disruption of a government agency harassing them with random spot inspections. Course some of you are probably the same people that want disabled children aborted, euthanized, or turned over to control of the state, so...
You guys are turning a nice video into crap. Yes birds have feathers that allow them to fly but it doesn't hurt them when they are clipped so you can't compare it to a human limb but maybe more like hair or fingernails which btw, we clip. That being said, birds that are pets wouldn't fair well in the wild because they were not taught how to live in the wild. So many owners clip their wings to prevent them from harming themselves. Stop being jerks on peoples content. I bet half the people talking negative have never even had a bird.
Well why not. This is a pretty crappy video for me. Seeing a bird slowly crawl down to the target instread of fly is breaking my heart. Especially it look up, spread the wings, try to fly up many time but can't.
sure i let them, but it's also truth that they should let those birds fly, it's not like something very subjective you can groupmind yourself in, birds get so much fun from flying and those birds fly sooooooo many kilometers that loving them and at the same time cutting their wing's is very stupid
OMG it is like cats and dogs they just have not evolved for as long As the animals are happy and the owners know how to take care of them or that there not aggressive there's no problem
As a bird owner, surely you know that some birds have their wings clipped for safety reasons, right? The macaw in the video had damaged tail feathers, with would hinder steering in the air, so he would likely hurt himself flying into something. Some like myself simply don't want their birds flying loose, pooping in places they really shouldn't, so they clip to prevent that. It's not like the bird is harmed or the clipping is permanent anyway, and if properly cut, a bird should be able to at least glide a little to help break falls. I really don't see the issue, considering my birds are happy and healthy despite not flying.
Ailia G Birds that have been domesticated since they were babies don't really know how to fly very well, so if their wings were not clipped, and they tried to fly in an enclosed space, like a house they would likely fly into a number of things that could hurt them (fans, windows, get caught in between small spaces, or fly outside and be caught by a predator, because they don't know better) Clipping their wings does not hurt them. It prevents them from harming themselves from flying through the enclosed space of a house filled with obstacles that could impede their flight. The birds in this video could have easily left the shower if they wanted to. They were both making the same happy, chirpy, warbly sounds. It is why the red macaw bobbed his head up and down and hopped in and out of the shower, stretched and flapped his wings. He was making sure the water got all parts of him. The macaw on the perch was doing the same. If he wanted down he could jump and parachute down on his wings. They may be clipped but he still has them. And yes I own birds too.
Domesticated birds fly perfectly fine. The only time they don't is if you don't teach them how to fly properly (example: clipping their wings when theyre very young and in the learning stage) . When you do that any bird can fly in the house safely. My birds can do it, they're small, never fallen behind things , never smashed into walls or windows. The only time they actually have smashed into things is when their wings are clipped. Also, a clipped bird can hurt itself just as easily as a noncliped bird , some birds ive had clipped and one go out, a hawk snatched it up in a second cause it could tell it couldn't fly. Another one fell into a bucket and drowned cause it couldn't fly out. A house is no less dangerous for a clipped bird. So to me I'd rather my birds be happy flying around, enjoying their lives like a bird should.
If you're talking about wing clipping, it's common sense. You should never clip wings. It's absolutely inhumane and anyone who does it needs to be locked up and stripped of their freedom. Keeping a bird in a house for 75-100 years and taking away it's ability to fly? If you didn't want the bird flying around, don't get the bird.
Oh look, the obligatory elitist snarker comes by to contribute nothing and drop a fat stinking load of sarcasm and self-righteousness in the middle of the thread.
Yaritza Miramon The red one was displaying nothing but pure joy. The calling and chirping, the open wings and displaying of his blue under feathers, and the dancing. All ways of expressing joy. That and he didn't run away lol.
FeedMeSalt Fair point. However, i still feel that the red bird should have had access to a ladder in case he did want to join the blue bird. You know, get a view of the area, closer to the water, or maybe just to join his blue pal.
@Plumeria Plumeria it's not...its for thier own safety until it's certain the bird can safely live and fly in a home without harming itself....theres also a possibility it does not know how to fly. Wing clipping only cuts the tips of a birds primary feathers..it does not harm them and they grow back so it's not perminent.
Yep I agree. They clip their wings for safety. I really wish people would research before they comment. It makes you look ignorant which defeats the purpose of your comment. SMH
just call me Ellen I know right? So many people are like: "WAHT TEH HECK U CLIPPED THEIR WINGS THTAS LEIK CUTTING OF UR LEGS U KNO" instead of looking into the details.
Dragon Scale that's a whole lot of you tube comments right there. Argue insult demean yet they look into absolutely nothing about what they're harshly commenting about. A lot of people thinks they know everything without looking into anything
Such beautiful birds. We have a harlequin and she's just as chatty. I keep seeing all these comments about "Its cruel to clip their wings" or "Wild animals shouldn't be pets". Do ANY of you who are just mindlessly posting these comments not understand that these birds she has were not actually TAKEN from the wild? People who own exotic birds get them from either a store, a rescue, or in the cases of those VERY dedicated, from hatcheries. These guys are domesticated and would most likely never survive if they were released. In fact, 90% of escaped birds end up dieing due to either harsh weather climates or fall prey to other animals... such as larger birds. So please.. just watch and enjoy these two playing rather then bitching about things you know nothing of... or refuse to learn about.
You’re right, they wouldn’t survive if they were released because we humans were there to capture their ancestors and domesticate them. It follows a chain.
BUDDERPICKLE - Minecraft Factions And More I mean it might not hurt but it is still removing one of their abilities if you could fly but I removed your wings you wouldn’t be very happy about that
You should never clip wings. It's absolutely inhumane and anyone who does it needs to be locked up and stripped of their freedom. Keeping a bird in a house for 75-100 years and taking away it's ability to fly? If you didn't want the bird flying around, don't get the bird.
You obviously don't have no clue about that you cannot lock up birds at home AND clip their freedom=their wings. You seem to be one of those selfish persons who only ask their wishes, but not do fulfl the wishes and needs of the birds! Utter interests, no depth! Poor birds!
John Smith You must see: you find that excuse "to let my bird fly is dangerous for him" throughou the Internet. Repeatedly you just find that this is a lie: ppl just want a pet to pet....and cut this pet according to their needs, which are very low one. The fact and principle that a bird has to fly and has to have bird-partners is sacrosanct! Anybody who is perchasing birds has to make this principle safe in reality! If anybody feels to hindered by free-flying birds, he/she must resist having birds! Clipping wings is not allowed in Germany, buying one bird is orbidee in Switzerland. The vitale needs of the birds are a high principle! Do them justice - or perceive yourself as animal abuser! NO cheap LIE! Several birds make dirt, are loud and change the whole energy and climate of a room! Ppl who can't have that must not perchase birds! To manipulate the body-structure of a bird is such a deep and disgusting intervention; only special ppl or peoples will do that!
For those whining, this video is nearly 4 years old. perhaps she didnt realize at the time the macaw at the bottom of the shower wanted up with the other (if thats the issue anyway, if there is one). Maybe she knows the bird's personal mannerisms better than you do, because well, they're her birds, not yours. Sheesh people.
no...they're her pet birds, what are you even talking about? she's not necessarily doing anything wrong and i don't see how slavery has anything to do with this video?
why do people keep thinking a pet is someone slave, a pet is a friend , companion, to make you happy, for people who say pets are slave are stupid and wrong
Dude I’m so against the clipping of wings cause yr getting a bird! It’s gonna fly! There are ways to free flight train yr bird so that they can build their skill. They won’t fly into a wall or run into things if you help them practice :)
aw man I couldn't watch all of it cus I felt too sorry for the red one wanting to sit up on the perch too but having to stay on the floor! make sure you let them both go on the little perch next time!!
This video is so darn cute. I know in the comments everyone complains that the red one is not getting what they want but think of them as kids. If the blue one was like "no I want this perch to myself" and the red one was just crying about it what would you do? You can't please everyone. Also how do we know she did not have them trade places? The video stopped before showing her turning off the shower. Also the video is called "can't wait" which might mean she was going to shower them separately but the red one didn't have the patience and it was just so cute to see it climb down off its perch and go into the shower all on its own.
Aww So Sweet!! I Wish my Macaw would take a shower .. he’s a rescue bird n the past owner used to punish him by spraying him with a water bottle so he’s afraid of water ..but he’s so loved now.. he’s grown back all his feathers!! We sing we dance we laugh we play .. I put a mirror next to his cage so he swears it’s his buddy! He laughs even argues with it!!
Bird's are born with wing's for a reason, escape is not a problem if people took care to properly bird proof. Also clipping so they are social, bird's are not just toys for our entertainment that's not a valid reason to clip and neither is space, not enough space then get a smaller bird. I have a bird and I would be devastated if some one clipped his wings, flying is what he does when he's happiest and playful, the idea of taking that away from him is horrifying.
We clip my bird's wings so she doesn't fly into boiling water or fly outside where there are falcons wanting to eat her...honestly it's like getting their hair cut when their wings are clipped-she doesn't it at all...
I can see that happening. One of my cockatiel fell in the toilet! Poor thing. My poor birds have been attacked by hawks too, really unpleasant to see another cool animal trying to eat mine!
Overly concerned morons going on an on about the distressed bird on the floor, 'can't you see he wants up on the perch'? Never mind that there's only room for one bird on the perch.
FlowingDepths : Oh I didn't se that but I totally agree and I don't understand why people do this 😔😔 I have four macaws now and I don't clip any of my birds and they will never escape when they love their flock(family ) so I have two rehomed at 10 and 15 years old that's been mostly caged birds so they don't fly yet but they are outside every day without harness even when they came to me only one year ago 😉 My youngest two macaws are freeflying every day and I hope my African grey will do the same soon too 😊 I never clip wings and never trim their been either or their claws because they trim it themselves 😀
rich energy to have 2 beautiful showers ,drop dead glorious birds !!! I would love to have one ,been wanting one for 20 years,,,,,can't afford one ,your very blessed !!!
There's already another bird on the perch though, it doesn't look like there's enough room for two and putting red up on the perch with blue could cause an argument between the two, birds won't hesitate to knock another bird off a perch if they don't want them there.
The whole point of this video is that red is to impatient to take his shower that he won't wait for the branch to be free. Birds will not hesitate to hurt each other to get what they want. Would you rather them be put up there together so they fight?? Because I guarantee that if she took blue down and put red up blue would want on the branch again. It's natural for birds to want to be at the highest point they can be it shows dominance to other animals.
OK so to my understanding, people REALLY hate birds having their wings cut! I personally wouldn't, but JEEZ calm down! the main reason that owners, or previous owners, clip wings is so they don't freaking fly away. it's a bird, if you opened the door or you went outside to let the bird get fresh air, it could literally just be gone. I would just harness it (idk if they do that with these breeds, though)
AsymmetricSnake everyone wants to scream animal abuse when they dont know anything about what really happened. these assholes are jumping to conclusions without any facts. and yeah personally id harness my bird too if i had one
You should never clip wings. It's absolutely inhumane and anyone who does it needs to be locked up and stripped of their freedom. Keeping a bird in a house for 75-100 years and taking away it's ability to fly? If you didn't want the bird flying around, don't get the bird.
Those who question birds taking baths have never appreciated a wild finch in a puddle. Feather shaft do not carry nerves, it's similar to your fingernails, hence no pain. Ignoramus.
look how that clever bird deftly climbs down using its beak and its feet. what clever, amazing, gorgeous animals. you're very lucky to have them as friends.
Why can't I come to a cute animal video without people talking so much shit? People in here acting like the lady was abusing the birds on video. Can't everyone see they're happy and having a great time? I don't clip my birds wings unless I have to. Many of my animals are rescue birds and something was wrong with them where letting them fly around was dangerous. I had a bird who could only fly to the right and because of that he constantly crashed if he didn't have the ENTIRE span of the room to turn. My Sengal has no idea how to fly. He typically doesn't but if he gets frazzled for any reason he will take off in a straight line and usually ends up lost in another room he's not familiar with. Stop judging people's decisions to keep their pets safe and enjoy the video. These birds sre far from being tormented.
I like that there is no one here complaining about their wings being clipped but tons of people complaining about people complaining about their wings being clipped even though there are none. > See something people might complain about > Realise you know something about the subject > Don't look at comments to see if people are actually complaining > Adress, accuse and insult complaining people in patronising comment for other troglodytes' upvotes The UA-cam way.
Very cute. I have a little green cheek who has her wings clipped for safety around our other animals. But eventually I hope to get her an outside free flight cage! And to those saying it's like cutting off their toes, please do more reaserch. The feathers grow back within a few months. And they can still fly :)
Macaws love having hot steamy baths at home because macaws come from the Amazon Rain Forest. Because its hot in the Amazon, when they have a show it like a hot, steamy sauna. 😉
I don't own a parrot, but why would you clip their wings? These birds are incredibly intelligent, if they like you they ain't goin' nowhere because they just don't know any better. Why would they leave a good home?
I'll put this in simple words. Let's say a 5 year old was with his parents playing outside, and while his parent's weren't paying attention, the child wandered off. In this case, the child did it because he/she was curious, however after a while he/she will understand that they're lost and can't go back on their own to their parents because they don't know how, and most likely start crying. This is why it's the responsibility of the parents to always pay attention. Same thing with birds. If a bird flew outside, it might not be able to come back even if it wanted to (and most likely will die), some people just don't want to take the risk.
I guess that's a fair enough reasoning. Probably not a risk that comes with proper training, though that's just an assumption on my part. And probably not something most people are willing to invest the time into, I imagine.
BloodPlusPwn Free-flight training is very time-intensive, and is still risky. You pretty much have to find a perfect location to do it (wide open space that is not near any roads, power lines, predatory animals like dogs, or high unreachable landing spaces such as tall buildings or trees). It also takes extensive knowledge on how to train them properly. There's also the added nuisance that whenever they're out of their cage (even indoors) unclipped birds need to be monitored constantly. Otherwise they can accidentally hurt themselves (think toilets, ceiling fans, or light fixtures) or just knock stuff over (Frames, lamps, curtains, TVs). Every hazard becomes easily reachable for them. Imagine teaching a 4-year-old how to use a jet pack. But they are always wearing the jet pack, and are always naturally curious about what they can do with it.
Your birds are beautiful and they're lucky to have each other. They both seem to really enjoy the shower! I will admit I felt a little bad for Red down there on the floor because it looked like he really wanted to join his friend. But, I'm fine with it. It's for their own safety. It's not worth the risk of them hurting themselves over a brief period in the shower. You still could'a helped him up. :) What sort of shower temperature do they like?
I don't think its abuse to clip their wings but I certainly wouldn't. It's sad to see such a beautiful bird attempting to fly and not being able to. Flying gives them freedom and its a strong part of a birds life. I'd be pretty pissed if I could fly but someone came along and removed that special talent..
There is is a reason why these big home trained birds have there wings cut. Please be more educated on how and why. How would you feel if your bird thus size flew away knowing it costed 300 plus to buy
Vanessa Volar How would you feel if you are a bird who was made to fly, and you had wings, but someone cut them and now when you use your instincts and flap your wings.... it doesn't work. They took that from you. Just because someone kidnapped you from the wild and stuck you in a home. How would you feel?
bio2020 You know, since it's good to NOT clip their wings, I'm gonna leave my bird's wings unclipped and let them fly around the house until they get hurt or killed by landing on a hot surface or on my stove! Or maybe until they run into a ceiling fan that's on! I'm also okay with my bird flying away and possibly dying outside because of temperature changes! It's okay because I can get the $1000+, that I spent on my bird, back! Do your research. Feathers grow back but it's best to clip wings until they learn that their wings should only be used to glide downwards.
Inkling Girl So.. it's almost like..... large birds that live in a giant Amazon jungle aren't meant to be kept in a small home? Who would have thought! Spend your $1,000 somewhere else
Why should she? That kind of bird originates from a RAIN forest -_- And if you're going on about clipping their wings, Would you prefer them to fly away and die in the wild?
Birds that originated from rain forests, rather then complaining about logging that destroys their habitats, you are complaining about a domestic animal that had clipped wings..
+ZoeyWilliams Not true at all, these can be bought for less than what some people spend on a macbook. I mean unless you define rich as being lower middle class, which is sad. They need specific food but not a lot of it, they're a bird that only weighs a few pounds after all. Avian vets aren't cheap usually but not ridiculously expensive.
It might not have been the owner...it could have been a rescue...the other bird doesn't look like its wings are clipped. Just being fair and not making assumptions. It is annoying that the red Macaw obviously wants a turn on the perch, but who knows...maybe he physically cant grasp it and she doesn't want it to fall. who knows...
Lanc are you against clipping? People save parrots lives every day when they are clipped. Just think, those macaws can fly 50 miles per hour! There have been cases of macaws flying into walls and breaking their necks. Although I do agree with you, I do also feel sorry for both birds, because the blue and gold seems to NOT want to shower, yet he's the only one on the perch. The green wing reaaaaaally wants to shower, but alas, it's on the floor.
This is sooo cute!!!! I've never seen them take a shower before. The the red one looks like it wants to go up top too. How cool would it be to have a few poles in there so they can walk around up higher. So they like the bathtub with a little bit of water? Thanks soooo much for sharing!!!!!
I think the owner mentioned somewhere that they were acclimatizing the two birds to one another. They're very young, so they need time to adjust to being around another bird. And I think the idea was for the birds to take turns in the shower, but Tonka was just excited and couldn't wait.
Nothing smells worse than a wet bird, but nothing is better than a happy bird who has showered or bathed, preened and dried and is snuggly.
Wet bird beats wet dog for sure haha
Damnnn realy??
wet bird smells like cheetohs to me haha
+jonyrock Omg someone who thinks the same way! People think I'm crazy when I say wet cockatiels smell like rotten cheetos
my macaw Wilson smells really good to me when he's wet...a little stronger smell than dry feathers but like a fresh nutty seedy smell
Guys who are complaining about macaws under showers. Answer: Macaws originate from Tropical Weather? i.e. humid & lots of rain.
Birds ENJOY baths. People are... dumb.
do chickens love baths? then I have an excuse to bring them inside and they can poop all they want in there.
Isaiah Mack should i bring an ostrich inside since they like baths then.....use common sense. obviously a chicken has no purpose being an indoor house pet, so it doesnt need to be in your house....a macaw is a housepet so it utilizes the amenities in relation to the wild
Hugo Stiglitz we had a chicken as a pet and she enjoyed a warm bath
an ostrich also lives in the savannah you smart lil cookie you
I felt sorry for the bird on the bottom, he wanted on that perch so bad.
maybe she will buy a new one lol
Jeez, will you guys cut it out! Those birds are not being abused!!!
Shane K lol
OceanbornAngel
he never said that...
me too
i hope you all know clipping a birds wings is not surgery. they just cut off a few feathers. they grow back in a few months. they can still also glide, and use their wings to fly for an extremely short duration. it's nothing like getting a cats claws removed.
but for what are they doing this?
+Nina Gillespie Or fly into closed windows and hurt or kill themselves because they don't know it's a solid surface?
Nina Gillespie
I know. I asked a different question.
Exactly!! I have cut our birds wings before it dosent even hurt them!
+Anthony McGeorge the only thing it hurts is their pride
it was clearly the red one's turn to sit on top. he couldn't have made it any clearer.
Yea i agree
That wouldnt be a problem if someone didnt cut his wings loose.
CaptainObvious0000 yes he needs a turn lol
definitely not bleach! Well if she took the other one off, wouldn't he do the same thing?
That’d cause a fight between the two birds,
And it wasn’t reds turn
I hope the red one finally got a go on the perch
so, what waterproof die did you use to color your chicken like that?
Git Gud Nub 😂😂😂
This made me laugh too hard
I laughed to hard at this 😂😂
They didn't dye these elephants at all. Mother nature blessed these creatures with all sorts of kool aid flavors in their feathers.
too serious, good new-agey outlook thou
I think the red one's dissolving.
Green wing macaw
Why did I laugh so hard at this comment? Oh god
You comment killed me 😂

Parrots are such beautiful Animals :) great to see that you treat them well
It's a macaw... not a parrot
+alonzilla Pretty sure they're under the order Psittacformes which is the parrot branch of the bird class. It includes Macaws, Conures, African Greys,
and my derpy quaker parrot Hazel.
So yes, infact they are parrots.
The Order also includes Cockatoos (Australian native, they have their own family separate from all the other parrots)
and the various hookbilled birds native to New Zealand (though they also have a separate family)
Macaws are parrots....
alonzilla ??? They are parrots! Please do not say something that you know nothing about.
tonsstar it’s a macaw... but same!!
"Mommy! Put me up there! Put me up there!"
"Mommy, keep him down, I'm trying to enjoy my shower!"
Cute birdies you have here!!

I always thought that these birds weren't supposed to be drenched but these two are like MMMMM WATER *slurping noises*
they need baths to maintain healthy feathers and skin
Also parrots live in the rainforest, it wouldn't do if they all had to find shelter every time it rained.

Those macaws look so healthy and happy! They are so chatty! Great video!
they cut their feathers ... so cruel!!
Hence, the plea to educate yourself rather than spewing nonsense.
u still say educate educate ... i am not expert of anything.. but i am sure neither u
The red one was really eager to go on the top but I'm sorry for him that he couldn't
Shehryar Faisal i was so sad thinking to myself "just take turns!" He obviously wasnt done he wanted to go up
Do you think 2 large birds would fit? No. Also, macaws should get dominate, so if the red one went and hopped right on the other would get mad, and if she took the blue macaw down while it was still his turn he would throw a tantrum or attack.
Well guys... It looks like the red one has its wing feathers cut so he can't fly at all.... Poor birdy :´(
Katka Baranová Big birds can risk falling if they tried to fly, it can damage a blood feather and loose some blood.
People can risk falling if they walk :D they can even break their neck. Bullcrap baby, bullcrap ;)
"it doesnt matter if there wings are clipped or unclipped as long as you keep them safe, happy, and loved." : D
u ignorants talk a lot .. realy a lot!
?
all birds that are handled outside of the cage needs their wings clipped. end of story. if they go flying out the window, there goes your $2000 macaw.
Well in that case you are in the minority, because cat owners have their cats declawed all the time and no one raises a stink.
"cats and dogs have been domestic animals for thousands of years...unlike a macaw parrot from the Amazon!"
Like I said, even over thousands of years you can't just breed the natural instinct out of cats. They still retain much of it and that's why they go feral so easily.
"By owning a parrot and clipping it's wings, you are straight away, taking away from it what it was built to naturally do, that is FLY!"
Not unless you clip all of the flight feathers all the way, which most bird owners don't.
Bravo. All I have to say is that was very very well said.
So adorable!!! X3
Tonka's like, "I want to be on the perch now!"
Tiko's just taking his time XD
I admire the fact that you are willing to be a parent to such beautiful birds, not a lot of people have that kind of patients. God bless.
macaws are beautiful birds
"Come on, I want to shower--"
"No! Wait your turn!"
"You've been up there for forever already!"
I love how much they enjoy their shower! And I love that the owner(s) installed a perch just for them in the shower!
No , it's not true , i have 2 turtles and i dont talk negative because i never had a bird
Well why not. This is a pretty crappy video for me. Seeing a bird slowly crawl down to the target instread of fly is breaking my heart. Especially it look up, spread the wings, try to fly up many time but can't.
EndEarth It would break your heart even more when it flies into a window or out of it.
EndEarth Break your heart even more to watch your $4500 bird fly off and never come back. feathers grow back.
sure i let them, but it's also truth that they should let those birds fly, it's not like something very subjective you can groupmind yourself in, birds get so much fun from flying and those birds fly sooooooo many kilometers that loving them and at the same time cutting their wing's is very stupid
If you don't own a parrot you can't say what is and isn't right for the bird

If you want a pet that can't fly, get a dog.
Don't clip.
Do you own birds?
Yes.
Your point?
As a bird owner, surely you know that some birds have their wings clipped for safety reasons, right? The macaw in the video had damaged tail feathers, with would hinder steering in the air, so he would likely hurt himself flying into something. Some like myself simply don't want their birds flying loose, pooping in places they really shouldn't, so they clip to prevent that. It's not like the bird is harmed or the clipping is permanent anyway, and if properly cut, a bird should be able to at least glide a little to help break falls. I really don't see the issue, considering my birds are happy and healthy despite not flying.
Ailia G
Birds that have been domesticated since they were babies don't really know how to fly very well, so if their wings were not clipped, and they tried to fly in an enclosed space, like a house they would likely fly into a number of things that could hurt them (fans, windows, get caught in between small spaces, or fly outside and be caught by a predator, because they don't know better) Clipping their wings does not hurt them.
Oh, look. People on the internet giving unsolicited advice about animals that they have zero knowledge about. How fascinating.
This was my favorite comment today 😂
Nature truly works in mysterious ways
This comment needs to be on the top
If you're talking about wing clipping, it's common sense. You should never clip wings. It's absolutely inhumane and anyone who does it needs to be locked up and stripped of their freedom. Keeping a bird in a house for 75-100 years and taking away it's ability to fly? If you didn't want the bird flying around, don't get the bird.
Oh look, the obligatory elitist snarker comes by to contribute nothing and drop a fat stinking load of sarcasm and self-righteousness in the middle of the thread.
I feel like there should have been a ladder somewhere for the red bird so that he can move around and not look so sad.
You know, get a view of the area, closer to the water, or maybe just to join his blue pal.
geez dude
Yaritza Miramon that perch isn't big enough for two birds. They probably take turns getting the perch
Or not clip his wings so he can fly up there.
This is the cutest thing! They look like lovely healthy, happy birds ^_^
It's sad how the red parrot tries to fly but can't because his wings have been cutted. Poor baby.
Poor bird has his wings clipped completely, but he is super cute when geting a shower
That the most cruelest thing to do to an animal.. just to make sure your bird doesn't leave
Taking a closer look I don't think that bird is clipped...it may have some other issue with it's feathers.
I swear those parrots make the most adorable noises
Yep I agree. They clip their wings for safety. I really wish people would research before they comment. It makes you look ignorant which defeats the purpose of your comment. SMH

All the people who talk all of this shit don't even own a bird

To everyone who is complaining that these bird's wings are clipped - you obviously have no clue about keeping birds in the home.
You obviously don't have no clue about that you cannot lock up birds at home AND clip their freedom=their wings. You seem to be one of those selfish persons who only ask their wishes, but not do fulfl the wishes and needs of the birds! Utter interests, no depth! Poor birds!
Paula Pianda u you obviously to need to shut up and realize that might even be worst for them since they circle of life is a thing
John Smith
You must see: you find that excuse "to let my bird fly is dangerous for him" throughou the Internet.
Paula Pianda Seriously who cares it is their pet and it is a Macaw if you don't clip their wings they will fly like crazy!
Paula Pianda Actually, you clip their flight wings so when you take them out, they don't fly around your house pooping everywhere, my nana has a bird.
Sheesh people.

why do people keep thinking a pet is someone slave, a pet is a friend , companion, to make you happy, for people who say pets are slave are stupid and wrong

Wallace Sampson did your parrot try and fly away from u once u were trying to take it back inside? Did u find him/her right away?
Thanks for being so nice to your birds! They look very happy.
They are so much prettier when they do not have their wings clipped
Who are the dislikers? This is awesome!
Overly concerned morons going on an on about the distressed bird on the floor, 'can't you see he wants up on the perch'? Never mind that there's only room for one bird on the perch.
+PKBitchGirl what does PK Stand for? and what type of human being have such a name.
PK stands for Peace Keeper and it's a reference to an episode of a show named Farscape called PK Tech Girl
Could be people who don't like to see wings clipped like that.
FlowingDepths : Oh I didn't se that but I totally agree and I don't understand why people do this 😔😔
I have four macaws now and I don't clip any of my birds and they will never escape when they love their flock(family ) so I have two rehomed at 10 and 15 years old that's been mostly caged birds so they don't fly yet but they are outside every day without harness even when they came to me only one year ago 😉
My youngest two macaws are freeflying every day and I hope my African grey will do the same soon too 😊
I never clip wings and never trim their been either or their claws because they trim it themselves 😀
rich energy to have 2 beautiful showers ,drop dead glorious birds !!! I would love to have one ,been wanting one for 20 years,,,,,can't afford one ,your very blessed !!!
can't you tell he wants to get on the perch?
IKR it's so infuriating
The whole topic of this video is that the macaw needs to wait his turn! The owner isn't just going to move the first one off midway through is shower.
Parrots can be very Territorial and the perch way too small for 2 large birds
Don't feed them after midnight! ... Ah and also don't get them wet!
kuhmilch nice gremlins reference
kuhmilch - Love it! So funny.
they are so beautiful.
Birds are so colourful and beautiful and it is the reason why I love them so much.
Cutting their feathers is like having your legs cut. You don’t deprive birds from flying. It’s their life.
I have never seen a parrot colored like that rose colored bird. He is beautiful. Both birds are beautiful.
Those who question birds taking baths have never appreciated a wild finch in a puddle. Feather shaft do not carry nerves, it's similar to your fingernails, hence no pain. Ignoramus.
If paradise exists there must be a lot of macaws flying around
look how that clever bird deftly climbs down using its beak and its feet. what clever, amazing, gorgeous animals. you're very lucky to have them as friends.
lol i have to change my bird's water bowl like 3 times a day because he will jump in it and take a bath XD
My one would "tattletale" on the other for doing that! 😄 Also would tattle when she would climb somewhere he could not. He was the informant. 😄

> See something people might complain about
> Realise you know something about the subject
> Don't look at comments to see if people are actually complaining
> Adress, accuse and insult complaining people in patronising comment for other troglodytes' upvotes
The UA-cam way.
I mean showers. 😜
haha hes like...YOU TOOK MY SPOT!
you can feel the intelligence of those birds just by the way they shower.. almost human like , really cool
3:01: how normal people test out the water
1:06: how i test out the water
wings clipped... poor bird..
My macaw loves the shower......if I dont invite him he literally knocks on the door with his beak lol
I see, that puts a bit of perspective on it. I appreciate the reply.
And I appreciate your being open-minded!
:) What sort of shower temperature do they like?
gorgeous bathroom...your birds are lovely.
Inkling Girl
So.. it's almost like..... large birds that live in a giant Amazon jungle aren't meant to be kept in a small home? Who would have thought! Spend your $1,000 somewhere else
Funny how you just got your little arse server bio2020
Have mercy on these birds! Lady you should be ashamed of yourself!
Why should she? That kind of bird originates from a RAIN forest -_- And if you're going on about clipping their wings, Would you prefer them to fly away and die in the wild?
***** Who is
Actually you should be ashamed of yourself! She didn't do anything wrong!
***** ok....?
Birds that originated from rain forests, rather then complaining about logging that destroys their habitats, you are complaining about a domestic animal that had clipped wings..
Wonderful color on these birds, and how they love the water! So sweet!
This is the best 4 mins of my week! :)
Ow man, everyone needs a macaw in their life... ☺
lovely to see how these 2 birds having a shower and enjoyed it a lot
only rich ppl can have this birds damn
I rescued one for 600$
I may get 2 for maybe $200 :3 maybe.. idl

Why do you want a pet that can fly? To clip his wings?
Now I can truthfully say that I have seen two birds arguing about who gets the best position in a shower stall!!
I love that the red macaw has to grip onto things😂
Zahra Camal it's actually because the owner clipped his wings so he wouldn't fly away
Emily Cooper ohhh should've noticed that
It might not have been the owner...it could have been a rescue...the other bird doesn't look like its wings are clipped. Just being fair and not making assumptions. It is annoying that the red Macaw obviously wants a turn on the perch, but who knows...maybe he physically cant grasp it and she doesn't want it to fall. who knows...
macaws like to climb trees that way , it comes natural to them

Your blue and Gold macaw is beautiful
that is one of the most BEAUTIFUL birds I have ever seen!!!
this is kinda sad.. he wants to get up but he can't he tries and tries but fails everytime cuz his wings are clipped...
Lanc admittedly, probably wouldn't be able to anyway, given their average wingspan and the shower size.
CRazyAnnabeth no I'm just saying that it looks sad as it tries and fails
CRazyAnnabeth
But increases risk by handicapping them
if you have ever raised a bird before, you know its important to clip thier wings. birds who are raised by humans are clipped for a reason
This is sooo cute!!!! I've never seen them take a shower before. The the red one looks like it wants to go up top too. How cool would it be to have a few poles in there so they can walk around up higher. So they like the bathtub with a little bit of water? Thanks soooo much for sharing!!!!!
They are beautiful birds, lovely to see them looking so healthy and happy, they really enjoy that!!!!
Its not fair for the red one!
I felt bad for it! it wants to be up there so bad.
Thought the same thing.. it obviously wanted to be on the perch with the other one. I imagine the owner likes "showing them off" more than anything
I think the owner mentioned somewhere that they were acclimatizing the two birds to one another. They're very young, so they need time to adjust to being around another bird.
And I think the idea was for the birds to take turns in the shower, but Tonka was just excited and couldn't wait.
I know why, because the red ones wings are clipped.
