- This is just a quick project to see how fun an electric hydrofoil is. I do not recommend to use a brushless motor like I did, because the bearings wear out after 10 hours of intense use. The propeller I used is the same type as my electric stand up paddle board but instead of 94mm diameter a 70mm propeller is better suited for 12S. But definitly not perfect. Also the batteries cant provide the maximum power. At 70% throttle the controller cuts off because of low voltage. The Lipos are 2 years old and took a lot of abuse, so I was surprised about 10 min of runtime. I guess 30% throttle input at about 30Amps is nessesarry for 25km/h flying speed.

Nicely done! I have several boards, batteries, esc's, remote etc for anyone interested in building a board.
That works really well , I like how you can stand on the board when stationary
So my weight is 64kg but when standing completly still the nose of the board goes under water and you habe to balance like on a balance board. So for light wind winging condition more volume definitly helps.

Do you have an external heatsink for the ESC ?
looks a bit slow for a 3kw engine. Minn Kota 1kw 36v pushes my canoe in the similar speed. This is not a criticism of you, but I have now thought well about the power of the engine that I would put on the e foil that I will soon make

Hello! Will this kit work? : RC Prop 7016, SSS 5684, Flycolor ESC 150A.
This will work well up to 12km/h. I tried a 70mm diameter propeller and it was working very well but I wanted even more speed and thrust so I needed to go bigger. So if you try the setup you can set the timing on the controller higher for more amps and lower to get less amps at full throttle but more efficiency. Let me know if you have any other questions 😊

Hello! We are waiting for a test with good batteries! Do you think a 12s with a 70mm prop will have more thrust than a 6s volt with a 94mm prop?
That is a good question and i dont know the answer. I thing the smaller propeller will have too much cavitation but it needs to be tested :)

Kann es sein das die Fernsteuerung aus dem Modellbau stammt und nicht wasserfest7dicht ist ?
Mach sie wasserfest nicht durch abdichten sondern durch versiegeln einfach mit Epoxid Harz versiegeln und das Poti mittels wasserabweisendem Spray schützen .

What inexpensive battery can be used?
For testing a small LiPo battery is the cheapest. It will cost about 150€ for 222Wh 6S 30C. But for longer distance a li ion battery can be used but you need about 600€ to get a large battery that can provide the amps.
How about lifepo4 battery?
