There's something about seeing these old machines, in an old building, with master craftsmen handling tools, leather, and hot wax, that screams quality.
I’ve had Trickers shoes for years. They do indeed exude quality and craftsmanship and this comes across in the wearing. I’ve had shoes resoled at the factory and they do come back looking excellent. The Jermyn Street shop staff know and care for the product and this always comes over when you visit the shop. Well done Trickers!
You can't describe the pleasure of putting on a pair of Trickers shoes. You walk taller and feel so different, the pleasure is addictive. Thank you to the employees of Trickers for making that difference in my life. From a time served clothing machine mechanic.
There's more than one Goodyear welt machine. At Tricker's, we have two. The machine was invented around 1871. We can get spare parts from down the road in Kettering, from The European Shoe Machinery Co Ltd.
This concept of choosing lasting quality is so rare nowadays. This shoes makes no sense at all ...and at the same time it so does. This choice is for smart people, quiet unpopular among the mainstream.
Tricker’s footwear is made entirely from start to finish at our Northampton factory and, whilst manufacturing processes have changed over time, our craftspeople continue to follow the traditional techniques.

If UA-cam existed during the 90’s I would quit my private school after GCSE and pursue the craft of shoe repairing instead.
So how old is the machine? Spare parts? What happens when it breaks down? 🤷♂️
