I develop skins for VirtualDJ as-well. Mainly for Denon Prime products. When I wanted to extend the CDJs screens on the player I learned from the developers, that the CDJs do not have an API to customize the complete screen. They just take the data of VDJ and display them with the standard screens. That is why custom sorting and so much other things do not work with the CDJs that work easyly with any other controller running VDJ.
One add on: The mapping of the CDJs can be customized. So the hardware buttons of the hotcues could be mapped to any pad page, selected in VDJ. So it is possible to control stems on the CDJs but you can not see the selected pad-page on the screens, which may be confusing.
The mapping of any controller can be customized, it's VDJ. What can't be customized is the display information, you're still gonna have to look at the laptop with zero feedback on the controller (the way the Info button works @0:39)
How do you hook up to the mixer? The sc6000 in computer mode doesn't output on the rca channel just in standalone and the output is on the built in speaker only. Have you djayed using the sc6000 and the mixer in the video?
Finally I had the confirmation I was looking for. It's impossible to go back and forth between pc control mode and internal mode on denon players and controllers. That is the biggest problem on this type os system because with pioneer gear I can do it very well, jump between Traktor/Serato to usb with no problem at all. But apart that, Denon gear are far superior to pioneer.
VDJ is epic full stop, I use the Vanced Skin, works on XDJ flawlessly, also I play out on a 10K Club system and the stems are fine, do you really think the Punter will notice? Best use of stems is subtle and use a little reverb on the vocal which again you can just zero in on. Good Vid Steve now we can hear you, lol, I use it on my Mixtream Go and my Reloop Buddy for practice at work.
I have a question I hope someone can help me with. I have 2 - SC5000m and the x1800 mixer, my mixer just started crackling and from what I've read on the forums its common for the Denon mixers. So now I'm trying to decide if I should get it fixed or buy a new mixer. I would like to run virtual DJ with stems at some point as well. A fellow DJ told me to buy the s11 that it would work well with the SC5000m's. I'm not a fan of Djing with a laptop but if its the best scenario I could learn to adjust. Any info is greatly appreciated.
At the end of the day, there will always be differences in the gears capabilities, as a DJ- you need to know what you need from the gear and what gear supports your work flow best. Stems are a perfect example of this. I will never play a stem live off software, I won't trust the quality on a professional system. If I want a stem- I go to a software, do the separation and then listen/ fix the stem so it is club ready. Then I use it as I would a track. So, I am an example of uses stems but doesn't need stems in the software or the gear. You have to know what you need out of the gear in order to make the best purchase for yourself.
@@DeejayWilly I always go by my ear. I have heard what some of those stems DJ ays are using live sound like....... I don't want my set to sound like that.... Each DJ has to decide what level of quality they bring to the show, if that is acceptable- you can use them. I won't.
Pioneer might be the industry standard but denon’s technology is way ahead.
Indeed. Not to mention the huge price difference between these two

Imagine CDJs were open for full customization. Nobody would go back to the standalone version once tasted the freedom of VDJ 😂

Denon can do stuff Pioneer cannot. Wondering if Denon will now buy vdj.

Yes the stems are also on my SC5000m when using Virtual. Why doesn't the industry standard have it? Just strange.

Do you think sc 7000 or anew mixer will come out soon?
No
Denon 👍🔥. Pioneer 🤢
Denon is way better.
