I’m so glad I found your channel, your content is fantastic. I’ve been an eyewear enthusiast for a decade or so, and your channel is far more informative than any other source I’ve seen. Around a fourth of my collection are aviators, and the one piece of advice in this video that I’ve admittedly run afoul of is buying aviators that are slightly smaller than my face. I’d say most of my aviators are; but honestly I like them as much or more than the ones that fit or run a bit larger than my face because the brands (mostly Ahlem, JMM, Mr. Leight and the Japanese line of Oliver Peoples) all seem to have a somewhat unique artisanal spin on the traditional aviator shape. I think their slightly smaller widths balance out the unique shape such that they don’t look ostentatious or attention-seeking on me. I remember another content creator saying “the rules are there so at least you’ll know when you’re breaking them,” so now based on your video at least I know that much!
Great video. The only thing I would say that for a classic aviator sunglasses pair I’d certainly go with Randolph Engineering still made in the USA and used by the US military.
@@thespectaclefactory these are all fashionable brands, with no real knowledge or expertise of what the purpose of the aviators is, and how they should be constructed, so in that regard, only the three companies that come in mind are American opticals, Randolph engineering and raybans
@@thespectaclefactory what do you mean by "probably" and "one day"? They are significantly cheaper than the brands on the table and 10 times more practical with 40 plus years of military feedback. Just buy a pair and review them
@@absk601 the fact that you even included ray bans might just be the reason why he can't take your word seriously. But please do tell us what aviator frames are for. Maybe he'll read your comment.
The JFRey 3032 is such a cool frame😎. I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now and I love it. Amazing construction and super comfortable. With the right tint it looks fabulous. The man is a genius btw ❤
Hey man, happy to have found your channel! To me this is really next level :) My favorites in this video is the J.F. Ray frames and the Porsche aviators. Here's an idea: Make a video of the most eccentric, most original and most extreme sunglasses ever made 😎
Robert La Roche manu is nice Especially with satin gold and mate black combination Do you think is good with photochromic lenses on it? If it's good, what colour do you think is the best?
Yes! I actually talked about how perfect a match it is for photochromic lenses in my original footage, but it was edited out to keep the focus on frames. The Manu would go with any colour combination, but I'd choose Green + Amber (gold)
I really like the Reykjavik eyes Rikhard on you at the beginning of the video. What tint percent are they and what flash coating color would you recommend?
Recently came across your channel and loving your content! Keep up the great work, would be great to know the size of frame / lens when trying on for reference.
On second thoughts, i totally agree with your n. 1 and 2 picks - love the engineering between the McLaren, but the Porsche Design outdo them in terms of, well, design :-) I'd be curious to know more about the Vision Drive XRT lenses though and what makes them a great lens for everyday wear. Same goes for the Leica lenses of the McLaren. Will you care to compare and contrast the two offerings? I only want the best when it comes to optical performance!
Surprised to see the Sunna top, or on the list at all given that it's not a new frame. It's also probably a bit too similar in style to the Mr Puffin that you wear every day - not sure why the RE collection contains two frames which more or less look the same. Two frames that I was expecting to see were the Robert la Roche Jasper and Barton Perreira 007 Royale. I've spent a lot of time this past weekend doing a deep dive into the latter as a possible alternative to last year's Avtak, and currently still favouring the Avtak. Not all that is shiny and new is necessarily better etc. The JF Rey 3032 does appeal though. The brick orange colour is fabulous, but I'm not a fan of the choice of temple design. Are there any alternatives with less going on on the side? I'd much prefer the thin temples of the 2953, for example. I've managed to find the 3032 in 3 colourways online but none of them are the black one that you briefly included in this video - it would be interesting to know if there are more photos of that colourway. Thanks
Porsche is the def winner for me. The shape is simply impeccable. I can easily imagine them with any tint - blue brown green you name it, and they will still look classy. They are not called Porsche for nothing.
Great video! Would you share your opinion on Spy Optics eyeglasses? I am interested in a few of their designs which have thick side arms. Would you like to recommend other brands that have thick side arms? Thanks!
Hey, I was wondering wether the Reykjavik eyes (rikhard in particular) would work as sunglasses (with Zeiss adaptative sun for example)? Any idea ? Thanks !
If the McLaren are everything you say they are then they are the definitive pair. Now it's a toss between these and the Mykita Leica capsule collection. Thoughts?
Ok, so if I buy the Porsche sunglasses I wil have to buy a Porsche jacket too and start coming up with excuses why my Porsche is always in service.. I already had this issue when I bought myself a Ferrari jacket
These are fashion glasses, not aviation glasses. Your #2 and #3 are not even "aviator" style glasses. They are the squared off style known as "navigator" or "caravan". If all you care about is how you look and you have money to burn, by all means consider these. If you want real aviation glasses, look elsewhere. Try Flying Eyes, Randolph, and Scheyden.

Great video & I love the attention to detail with all the aviators in the display behind you! 🤓
Glad you noticed 😉
Great video. The only thing I would say that for a classic aviator sunglasses pair I’d certainly go with Randolph Engineering still made in the USA and used by the US military.
Agreed. I wish Rob would consider featuring Randolph sunglasses.
We probably will feature them one day!

Great video. All of those are ultra-cool. The Robert La Roche aviators are probably my favourite.
They are so well made! Definitely the best finishing and detail
Like the walter and herbert , thank you once again...😊
Yeah that one is beautiful 😍

Another great video! Keep them coming! 👍🏾

Nice idea! I do have a couple of shorts that feature weird sunglasses but I can definitely make more content!
The Porsche aviators remind me of my Maui Jim's "Following Seas". I love them!
My favourite is J.F.Ray aviator frame ❤
Mine too!
Great video as always! If you don’t mind me asking what do you think of Blackfin glasses and Lindberg glasses?
Thank you 🙏
Blackfin have always been a bit average but are stepping up recently. Lindberg are quite predictable and safe.
LOVE that jf Rey👍🏻👍🏻
Me too! Every single client I've showed it to over video call has ordered it.

Hey thank you for your amazing video.🙌🏻😉 Just got that up because of searching Longines sunglasses review. Maybe you could do one...?
Why not? If I can get my hands on some I'd be glad to...

I really like the sunnah glasses but I can’t find them anywhere. Any help?
Hey! We have them in stock. Just drop us an email on hello@thespectaclefactory.com and we'd love to help you get a pair
Where can I find the Walter & Herbert Aviators? I don’t see them online.

Dragon and Gucci have some frames with thick temples.
Speaking of aviator shades, PLEASE do cartier aviators for us fans
I love it all
where can i buy the mclaren art in prescription?
You can order them from us! Just email me via rob@thespectaclefactory.com
The McLaren aviators are they still available if yes where can I find them ?
Is your Santos a medium or a large model?
Is it true that you shouldn’t glaze a Reykjavik Eyes frame with 1.5 index lenses?
Yes, absolutely!
We'll gladly reglaze them for you
1.5 would break in no time and has poor tensile strength which induces distortions around the perimeter of the lens
Hey, I was wondering wether the Reykjavik eyes (rikhard in particular) would work as sunglasses (with Zeiss adaptative sun for example)? Any idea ? Thanks !
Не устал еще тащить?) ахахах. Думаю нет) спасибо за видосы бро, продолжай)
Have you tried the real mccoys ma17012 aviator sunglasses?
If the McLaren are everything you say they are then they are the definitive pair. Now it's a toss between these and the Mykita Leica capsule collection.
Thoughts?
I think it's very much down to personal choice. The McLaren feel more solid but the Mykita are lighter
How can I get these frames in Arizona?
Hi, we offer FREE worldwide shipping! If you're interested, email us at hello@thespectaclefactory.com and we'll help you get you're perfect pair.
Oh my. I LOVE the JF Rey collab......
I think we have the same taste 😂
Seems like it!
Tolkien is the best one, just for the name. 😅
💯
Randolph is the best for me i don’t like oversized sunglasses
They are pretty good
Ok, so if I buy the Porsche sunglasses I wil have to buy a Porsche jacket too and start coming up with excuses why my Porsche is always in service.. I already had this issue when I bought myself a Ferrari jacket
Build it out of cardboard boxes like Joey..😉
Ray ban invented the aviators without them there would not be any
That's true, but sadly nowadays, Ray Ban is a shadow of its former self
Porche hands down
There is only one true Aviator design, period. Ray-Ban by Bausch & Lomb. (made in USA, the original Ray-ban, not Luxottica)
