Great video Ted, I hadn't seen that whiskey plank technique before. Nice to see the complicated process broken down like that!
Thanks! It's a cool tradition. We usually use maple whisky in the workshops - it seems to fit nicely.
Haha - I was talking about how you cut the last strips to keep consistent with the curve - but the whiskey is a great idea too!
+A Guy Doing Stuff ha! Oh right - thought you meant the history with the owner buying the builders a drink, etc... But obviously there's a lot more in there than just that!
It looks like Ted has changed his fitting the last plank technique compared to what is written in Canoecraft! I may just have to take a course out there!
Ted will often switch things up a little from build to build... keeps him interested and it's the best way to hit upon improvements to his technique. We'd love to have you if you decide to take a course!
so in 40 years, ted builds the same way he did 40 years ago. same tools too
