    Also to anyone reading this, I forgot to mention an important topic that pro tunes/e-tunes are going to be way better than any OTS tune. That is because pro tunes addresses the specific environment of your car resulting in better performance and reliability.
    So if you have access to and the money, I would say pro tunes or e-tunes are worth it over any OTS tune! I simply wanted to make this video to help anyone interested in going Stage 1 on Cobb’s OTS tune. I have it because I don’t have the funds rn and also don’t have many/new parts yet. I’m going be cautious while driving and I will update you guys should there be any issues.
    My apologies and hope this helps!

    You did great, just turn off trac control. Just have to slip the clutch right in the beginning to get the engagement then let out completely. I have a stage 2 WRX and stage 3 rotated turbo STI and honestly, I don't launch them very often. Also as far as rpm for launches, sit somewhere and just see how much boost you build in each setting, and try each one until you find something you're comfortable with. So for launching, slip the clutch a little and be easy into it at first so it starts rolling. Otherwise, you will shock the drivetrain. I set mine to 3500 rpm to start, then moved up to 4500rpm be ware launching alot while slipping clutch will wear clutch.

    • @kosokumedia
      @kosokumedia  Рік тому +2

      @@thatgreyseiresguy Yeah pro tunes are always going to be better than OTS tunes I had mentioned it in my previous video. I found out from watching Smeedia (he’s really knowledgeable when it comes to Subarus) Pro tunes are better because it addresses the specific environment of your car, whereas OTS is just generalized and is “one size fits all” kind of tune.
      The reason I went with OTS (temporarily) is simply the money rn and wanted to make a review to see how it was. I’m going stick to the map notes as close as possible and once I get parts brands that aren’t supported by Cobb’s tunes, and build up enough funds, I’ll eventually switch to pro tune. Was there anything specific Crawford Performance said about OTS?
      I apologize I forgot to mention about pro tunes in the video!

      "This is arguably the MOST important factor in reliability. At any power level.. stock, bolt-ons, or race car. If you have a less than perfect tune, your engine will ultimately fail. This includes off-the-shelf or OTS maps. They are made for any car in the world; not taking into account the subtle differences from car to car, climate, altitude, fuel variations, etc. These should only be used to gingerly break in an engine, or drive gingerly from your shop to your tuner for a custom a tune. Never beat up your car on an OTS map"

      @kosokumedia  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi there! I hope you are enjoying your WRX as much as I am, the tune is for strictly for performance/if you plan on modding your car and to get rid of the rev hang to allow for a smoother driving experience. However, if you are looking to make your car more reliable and healthy, I recommend to keep it generally stock and stay up with maintenance. there is also mods out there that help with making the engine run healthier such as an AOS! I recommend those but a stage 1 isn't focused on longevity in my opinion even if it is low risk. Hope this helps and I encourage you to find other videos that may help you more!

    • @kosokumedia
      @kosokumedia  Рік тому

      Hey, I’ll try my best to help!
      This is first manual car so I don’t have any experience with others to compare but for me, once you get used to going from 1st to 2nd gear it’s not bad. I believe it is harder than most cars to drive and can be hard to drive smooth. I still sometimes mess up to this day. Sometimes when you’re driving in first or second the car starts rocking. Shifting from first to second also has that rev hang which makes it harder to time smoothly. After 2nd gear, it shifts very nicely. There are mods to help fix these problems such as the stage 1 tune, pitch stop mount, and etc that I’m still learning about.
      My recommendation is to try to test drive one yourself before buying it, bc I wouldn’t want to scare you away if you are really interested in the WRX! I still love this car and enjoy it every day, hope this helps 🤝🏼

    Why a 91 tune when youre pumping 93?

    • @kosokumedia
      @kosokumedia  Рік тому +1

      Hi, from the research I’ve seen, the reason I went with 91 tune while pumping “93” gas is bc most gas stations typically have a lower octane than it says on the label. Also the 93 is a more aggressive tune and considering I’m not on a pro tune, I wanted a more tame tune. That being said, I typically pump gas at Shell which is what I’ve been hearing is a good place to get 93 so I’m sure I could get away with 93 tune.

      Yup, on any platform this is a good point to make... OTS is 'off the shelf' and simply a generic tune for 'typical bolt ons'...but it is not the 'best' tune for your specific car.
      I have a 2016 Focus ST and its the same concept...personal tunes allow remote tuners to see your data logs and dial your afr's, boost, timing/spark, etc and anything else that needs specific calibration, so its perfect for your car. You gain noticeable power too and get better, crisper shifts from a better tuned throttle response. Plus you have a connection if you ever notice odd misfires or blips in your acceleration especially when going WOT.... your tuner can simply take a look at your data logs and its almost always free with the original tune as long as you're not adding big upgrades like turbos and aux fuel or something.

    How are you liking the experience what can you say are your favorite things about your car? Looking to buy one in the Future.

      Hi Antonio, I’ve been driving mine for almost 2 years now going to college and I would say it’s a pretty good daily driver and I’m happy with the purchase. For the price I think it’s a good mix of practical and fun driving. I would say one of my favorite things about my car is the large community behind Subarus so there’s lots of aftermarket support and people with experience owning them to help you. Hope this helps!

    Stage 1 is boring, Cobb version is probably the worst offering. Stage 2 is a improvement but FBO protune or go e85 or water meth for the real experience

    Do you ever feel the car hold back when the AC is on.

      I know there is a universal thing where people say they like to turn off their AC when they are about to race but idk if it has any truth 😂 From my personal experience, there has been times where I notice the AC gets louder when I step on it. Nowadays I like to turn it off when I’m taking it serious, just to make sure, and just roll the windows down… every HP matters! 😂

      @@kosokumediaYeah, the ac does draw power lol. Look at your boost with it on, and with it off. Plus for me, I have to drive differently when the ac is on, vs off. It’s smoother when the ac is off, vs on
