This video really shows how the USN's flight deck crews/aviators/sailors work in all weather environments. Because we can see the rain being whipped down the deck by the strong wind, it gives us a first person perspective on that. Those of us that watch these vlogs might tend to get rather inured to the fact of you people deal with momma nature daily - no matter what she throws at you. Thank you for doing so and thank you for sharing this tiny insight.

Have seen cat launches on plenty of channels prior, but this one sticks for some reason. Likely the pilot POV; but also showing how long it takes, and seeing the head swiveling of the pilot, and watching the deck crew mobilize, etc. It’s seeing the ballet in real time, and to quote from the movie Old School, “it’s glorious!”

It's mindblowing that we did all this this between our late teens to our mid 20s. Video is a true cross section of military ops though, lots of hurry up and wait. Nice to watch all the LSEs doing a solid job in inclement weather. I've been water logged during flight quarters enough times and that sh#t sucks when you aren't in warm seas. Solid cat! Always a pleasure watching flight deck ops!

Always an amazing thing to watch!!! For those like myself in their later years of life who always dreamed of flying, but other than a few lessons in a plane then flying paragliders, never did, to retired military pilots who have done it all, I don't think the cool factor is ever lost!
It takes a lot of people to keep our pilots flying and big salute goes out to not just the pilots bit to all of our dedicated military members who all sacrifice some, and for those who gave all. Thank you for your service!!!

Monsoon in the South China Sea was like that. Every time we turned into the wind it rained. The drops felt the size of grapefruits and drenched us to the skin in a matter of seconds. The slippery flight deck became super slick. And, I was doing it at night. Cat Checking was the very best job in the world. Great video. Fly Navy!

Or maybe a complete sortie (of course, except what you 'can't' show) from lineup to trap? It's great ASMR!

I hate the fact this vid isn't longer, so we can have a bit more flight time.
    Overall though, bloody impressive.

How long do you typically maintain the clearing turn heading? I was under the impression it was turn 30 degrees left/right and then an immediate turn back to BRC. Thank you for these awesome videos!

30 degrees for 30 seconds, the reverse to BRC.

When I was in the NAVY, I was with a Prowler Squadron. I've been skeptical of replacing the Prowler with the Growler but, I think I'm starting to warm up to the idea. Thank you for continuing our important mission!

Does the Growler have helmet mounted cueing? It doesn't look like it from the camera angle, and I don't know when this was filmed.

Your head movement is impressive. Left to right, chin to shoulder, chin to shoulder. Clear hand signals. You would probably make an excellent motorcyclist, because head movement and your ability to communicate simply is key to a successful ride. (and equipment preparation/maintenance)

These are truly important to see for us stuck on the land. I really like the Handles that you grab to get set in there. . I have a handle on the top wing that I use to get in and set up my seat arrangement with chute. I notice you idle for an extended period……

This pilot’s patience is admirable. So much time is wasted waiting to take off. Can’t the flight control office do a better job to make the launch quicker or at least better coordinated in timing? Does it really take this much waiting during the war time?
