Working on higher loftier kick flips and getting comfortable hauling ass doing tricks is essential. Speed is the key to frontside flips. They’re nearly impossible to do without moving unless you already have them down. Also having hardflips on lock helps as well
Faxxx I feel the trick too hardlfips was in my head doin a half way frontside flip with my shoulder but bringing them back straight . Than bam hardflips became so easy
I literally saw that same exact Reynolds tutorial on some 411 video from way back in the day i was never able to get them but i Randomly picked up muska flips and then lost them after a few months
ARs fs flip trick tip and all of the “show me the way” trick tip videos are the best for learning tricks. Then once you start landing, you make it your own.
Inspiring stuff, I think I'll try these again today. I hadn't seen the Reynolds tips before, I'm tempted to wake the neighbors with my skating right now lol.
I spent about 10 mins on these yesterday’. Didn’t go so well. Can tell this one will be a battle for me. Varial and BS flips became consistent before my standard kickflip. Kickflip took me a year to get consistent. It was a head scratcher on why. I feel FSF will be the same way…
a nice tip i use for fs flips is, set up for a normal kick flip but slightly closer to the middle of the board, back foot in the concave but closer towards the end for the pop. once you that foot placement down all you'll need to do is flick. the faster you flick the easier it'll be to catch in the air, the slower you flick you'll be more likely to do a muska flip. sorry if anything is hard to understand :) after watching the entire video i can promise you just slide your back foot towards the end of the tail a bit more. once you get that it'll also make hardflips easy.
@@kerryland1258 when you say back just to be clear you mean slide down the tail more or do you mean hang more of my heel? Just want to be clear cuz I’m probably going to play with it today
@@localjoe toes on the tip, it’ll help generate more pop and it’ll make the 180 motion easier. On my channel I uploaded a video just now so you can see of a few i had on my phone, Check it out and look at my feet.
Nice tip! I first learned fs flips where it flips vertical like a hardflip but Im trying to learn em Reynolds style now. I landed one yesterday I thought was pretty good and what worked for me was moving my front foot slightly more back off the heel edge than a kickflip because the board is already spinning in that direction and that way the flick is perfect and its easier to get the front foot out of the way to catch it and pivot to end the trick if needed. keep at it man I just subbed!
i learned mine from studying and replaying his in video parts over and over the back foot pushes *front shuv* the front kicks down into the ground literally put em together cancels each other. you have a perfect fs kicki but remember those shoulders do not open stay squared as long as possible do not open ur chest and swing stay squared you will chuck the board away from you instead of keeping it under you
Me and you have the same exact problem which makes it hard to land Fs flips or hard flips, slight dad bod with week hips and knees, watch the footage of anyone that does them proper, you have to really be able to pop and suck your legs up to do these tricks successfully
Another tip... just my opinion my way. Get your mindset straight that you need more than just 180°. Push it harder to turn more than you think you need, cuz you're short by 90°. Most people forget how important basic tricks are. Higher Ollie, airtime is needed. Basic tricks is the key. Combine it with speed. True story, at one time I stop learning new tricks. But instead I did every flip tricks I could in full speed and higher to pop over things. After that process learning new tricks was so much easier. Hard flip in 6 tries which I've never tried ever before.
Hey. You should focus more on te 180. You’re doing a kickflip like you want to do a boardslide. Your other tutorial really helped me with getting the right flick. So much that i’am now doing 270 fs flips. So my tip for you is not the foot positioning because you have te right combination, just focus more on turning more. You’ll get it. Probably in 1 day. Good luck!
Man great video! Your channel got recommended so checking it out and definitely enjoying it! The FS flip is definitely a trick I want to learn. This was some great insight! Subbing!
I know I should probably do my own research but is there a secret to frontside heels I landed a couple but I can’t do them anymore plus the ones I landed weren’t moving or clean so I never had them on lock it would be dope if there was a secret for those
Don't know if you have them down yet Here's a proper tip Start with your shoulders 90 Turn your front foot almost 90 down the middle of the board Keep your back foot in the normal kick flip position Then when you pop like a normal kick flip slice the board with your front foot and complete your body rotation afterwards Nice and slow Practice kick flips all the time though High pop
its your front shoulder stopping you, reynolds says to open up and shoulders have to complete the turn and your back leg will follow giving it the scoop, even if youre reverting it when you land to not have that pause, your shoulders need to be turning and legs following at 5:35 youll see your front shoulder stop on these tries , then 5:41 your shoulder makes it behind you but the board doesnt flip right but still the rotation was there, it goes over 90.
Local Joe you got it man, remember fakie tricks take less scoop, so even though it’s awkward, if you manage to land some the confidence and commitment may help! It’s worth a try for-sure if you’re struggling regular.
This is super cool! I just started trying half cab flips but I feel like these could be easier for me, gonna try it out today! also just watched the Andrew Reynolds doc too he does have the perfect fs flip! 👊
@@localjoe I assume it's because most look gross. I'm of the opinion they should basically look like a hardflip with a sex change to look good with kinda that "legs spread out and everything going on vertically between them" pose, which not a lot of people can do.

Great vid man ! Def want to learn this trick too! I want to make a video on it but am worried I won’t be able land one lol and the video will be a dud 😭
What helped me when I first started learning was doing pressure flips I do my front side flips more vertical I think they look better You can also use ur arms a lil more ...a lil bit more wind up motion if your having trouble coming around
Reynolds does do nice frontside flips. Imo the hardflip version of frontside flips look much steezier. So my tip would be to learn hardflips then learn to turn with them.
INPORTANT: Hey Joe, if you watch Reynolds catches them in the air with the the board at a 90° angle then finishes pulling it around. More like a 90° kickflip that you finish pulling around another 90°. It seems like you are trying to do a full 180° and kickflip at the same time. Try landing 90° frontside kickflips. You won't roll away on these, because you'll land sideways, but they'll get you half way there, and give you an idea of what's next. Then, after you catch a bunch of those, just start pulling them around the rest of the way. Watch Reynolds in slo-mo and you'll see what I am talking about. Get your feet positioning ready, face your shoulders forward (if that helps), 90° frontside kickflip, catch it as high as you can, and finally bring it around in the air, and finally land it! Remember, first do a "bunch" of, high as you can, 90° frontside kickflips that you catch in the air and land sideways 90°. Shoulders around first then hips follow catching it with both shoulders and hips facing 90°. The rest will just come. Then it's just pulling it around another 90°. Please let me know if you tried this!
^^ Yes! I believe one of the issues is that he's not getting in the air high enough. If you watch by the time the board finishes flipping he almost back on the ground. I've mentioned it in a couple of videos and I believe he's doing exercises to help but if he learned to squat lower that'll help him get higher in the air.
Yes, great observation. Squatting lower while, maybe, crossing his arms as he's squatting, so when he lunges upwards he can throw his arms upwards, and his arms can swing faster that way pulling his body weight up. In the meantime he can try launching them out over the euro-gap or something similar like launching them out of an embankment. That way he can get a feel for it and then develop the strength and/or one fluid motion of squatting, lunging upwards, and popping while throwing his arms upwards as he does them on flat ground. I hope he tries all this out, because if he does he'll get it. 👍
Haha doesn’t sound as good tho… no it’s that feeling of having the whole weekend ahead of you the excitement and anticipation that anything could go down. But I do see your point
