@@adriansi1111 look at the swashplate below the rotors in the middle. There's that little mechanical "arm" that spins around with the rotor. That's the thing that produces the noise.
BTW, the weather radar in the nose is non-standard, a local retrofit, as this is an early example that was delivered without. To be sure, the Mi-8MTV/Mi-17 and Mi-8AMT/Mi-171 now has a radar as standard, but the radome is bigger and located lower.
@MirZZi carfull actually the Mi-8 and Mi-17 has six hardpoints that can carry bombs, rockets like (UB-32 S-5 rocket launchers, S-24 240 mm rocket), (9M17 Phalanga anti-tank) , gunpods, and external fuel tanks. Also in newer versions Mi-17v are newer avionics which alows them to be all weather or time condition.
Here's something that proves the stupidity of certain countries (mine for example). We bought some used UH-1s (and I think some even saw action in Vietnam) and some CH-47s (and the best version we have is -Ds,and they need urgent upgrades). In the meantime, this magnificent helicopter was available. It can lift medium weight cargo, can carry lots of people, can be armed with rockets and missiles. It's a 3-in-1 helicopter, with great capabilities and low cost.
@gittys1982 Nimburg is a city in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, located 45 km east of Prague on the Labe River. I think that MI Helicopters are realy realy good machines
@gtamodman122 Oh, OK. The police and the marines of my country (colombia) have the same problem, but with uh-1s only, while the army does have this beast (i believe 25 of the v5 variant) plus +/-50 blackhawks, and its slowly getting rid of its hueys (some of them are ending up in the first 2!).
@EAMR262 Greece (you could just check my chanel :-) ) I mean we bought CH-47s and some used UH-1s while we could get these reliable, cheap, and great 3-in-1 helicopters

@@adriansi1111 apparently it's from the rotor blades.

@MirZZi because it is a multi-role helicopter doesn't make it a cargo heli.

These helicopters even fly in polar regions.
