Good Video Buddy, i plan on repasting my GPU and CPU too, i have the 7700HQ processor and its constantly at high temperatures. Because of that i believe that my battery has lost all its capacity and now can barely stay out when unplugged. So im waiting a little bit so i can save some money to buy a new battery, additional 16gb of ram, a new ssd and some thermal paste to do it all at once.
Great Video!!!1 I'm adding IC Graphite Thermal Pads on both the GPU and CPU im running a GTX 1070 8GB and an I7 8 Core CPU Currently I do not have Issues with. but when I run my 15 R3 with the Alienware Amplifier and a RTX3070 Aours I can tell the CPU will Thermo throttle Game Performance.
I use an Alienware 15 R4 for gaming and I notice the cpu temp gets really hot. I am planning on replacing the thermal paste, but I am having trouble finding a tutorial featuring the R4. I wanted to ask if the disassembly of the R3 is similar to or the same as the R4 disassembly.
Hi Merrit, I have return my m15 R2 because it was being hot and the memory was soldered in the motherboard. Could you confirm the memory has slots in the motherboard in R4, please?
@@BrennoLeal I assume you are interested in buying the M15 R4, not 15 R4, which is what I have. I can tell you the 15 R4 does have user-upgradeable memory; but after some research, I believe the Alienware M15 R4, does, in fact, have soldered memory.
Great video! Thanks a lot 😃 I have the same laptop and I want to repaste it. So do you recommend a certain thermal paste brand? Also do you recommend buying a laptop blower cooling pad like this one? (For gaming)
I use MX-4. It's cheap and reliable. For the cooling pad.. I would say it's personal preference. I don't really like them, but if you use your laptop on your lap then you might wanna invest in one.

I never used it so I can't say it for sure. It supposed to lower the temperature so I assume it is useful. It's really useful if you use your laptop on carpet or in bed for some reason.
When you’re talking abt temperatures, do you mean stress test temperatures or gaming temperatures? Also, if it is a stress test, is it a CPU and GPU combined load or only CPU load. What are the GPU temperatures ? Would *love* it if you can give me all this info. Thanks

I redid my thermal paste and I use undervolting and underclocking via throttlestop... still have throttling when I try to play intensive games... I now need a watercooling solution. I was thinking maybe I could repurpose the heatsink and run tubing to connect them in a series so the entire heatsink could be one big waterblock then I connect that to a radiator and pump.
Ayo I need to fix my laptop. It’s an Alienware 15 r3 and it’s like three years old, when I try to play overwatch now the gpu gets to 91 degrees and my cpu gets to like 100. (Celsius) when it hits that temperature it starts to have random framerate drops and makes it too hard to play. I’ve undervolted it, I’ve Turned off turbo boost, and nothing. I don’t have an intact warranty on it I don’t think, will a repaste work? Thanks.
Honestly I think part of it is overwatch because I used to play it on an alienware 15 r3 also and the same would happen to me but all the other games have run smoothly
A little late but please consider cleaning your laptop from dust. My GPU temps used to reach 91° Celsius and after cleaning with a small brush and a normal vacuum just sucking as much dust as i can my temps started dropping to 70 - 75 at max.
