Definitely Nolan’s most daring movie, the first hour was quite mind boggling but it all came together beautifully. Wished I’ve seen more background story from The protagonist, I want to know why he is the way he is. Loved the movie not Nolan’s best I still believe The prestige is his magnum opus I’ve only seen it once and I would have go out and see it again but due to COVID-19 I’ll just wait till the blu ray is released because this movie has so many layers and I feel like I’ve overlooked a lot of things. Anyway great movie I’d give it a solid 8.5/10
Christopher Nolan is One the Greatest Filmakers our generation has ever seen , tenet was a experience I've never had at the cinema I saw Imagery I've never seen before in my life it was beyond immersive to watch this movie in IMAX , ( If You Spot The Third Timeline In this movie tenet is not as mind boggling as you think it is ) it does tickle my brain to think what high Concept story does he have in mind for his next Project how many times can Nolan Utilize the concept of time and still make it intriguing to watch for the audience 💯
I like the interviewer, she seems really enthusiastic and a true fan of Nolan's work, almost makes me feel like I'd be as giddy as she is to talk to this guy one to one.
Tenet is an absolute masterpiece

I think that the point of the film, is that it's supposed to be inaccessible. The protagonist is an anonymous agent that is so good at his job he has very little personal connection or personality that would get in the way of the work he has to do. He's the anti-james bond! No individual character knows the whole job but they know their part to play. I bet that's very realistic to real life intelligence service careers. For me it really plays with the audiences expectations that we should be satisfied, enjoy a movie, understand everyone's motivations. We can't even hear the dialogue properly, and when we can it's to complex until you get further along. It makes me question myself as a consumer on a wider scale. Are we all here on this planet to just be satisfied or do we have an important role to play for each others lives?

If only you could actually hear what the characters are saying in the movie...
This is one of Nolans films I actually want to see a sequel to, even if its not considered one of his best I think this one would be really great with one as a sequel would really let us explore these characters more and expand the compelling concept in Tenet.

nolan needs to start an ASMR channel
From the day I watched Following I used to feel like I was witnessing film making as a beautifully executed magic trick each time I saw a Nolan film, like a Nic Roeg of his generation.
Then over time that got replaced with the feeling of witnessing film making as an intellectual rubix cube which required solving.
Both approaches leave a lot to be admired and his technical abilities can't be faulted, but part of me does miss a bit of that magic I used to feel.
More often than not I exit his movies left with a bit of a chill these days, although they still never fail to impress me in many ways. If only he could travel back and start making those smaller scale movies I used to love.
Exactly my feeling too.
Very much on board with Mark's view on Tenet. I believe he often is accused of making cold unemotional films but I never remotely felt that in say Memento, Inception or Interstellar. This left me cold, I'll likely give it another watch some day but I'm in no hurry.
Time is all we have and nobody knows what it actually is.

Not a bad film, but I really didn't understand what was happening at all for an alarming amount of the movie. I'd probably describe it as inaccessible, a movie that you need to have explained to you to understand the plot. I think after a few watches I will enjoy it more.
I loved this film, it was truly an interesting ride. Not quite as good as Inception or Dunkirk, but still.
It's kinda sad ..this movie was also shot in mumbai india,and Indians not able to watch it..

The story would need to be on many levels.....
I think Nolan should do a Bond movie, but his way. He also needs to an Ocean’s movie, Tenet, Inception and Dark Knight all show he can do the heist genre effortlessly.

Whenever Nolan talks about his process I believe he's not being 100% honest. He always says it's about story. In another interview he said he finds the story first than the concept after. I don't think this is true at all. It's very clear to me he starts with concept first and most of the movie is all plot. In fact Tenet is the least story driven movie in his career along with maybe Dunkirk
It’s easy to be critical of his work but his style of filmmaking is very cerebral and it can cause dislike
Listening to this is like the first part of Emperors New Clothes. "Oh wow, like, don't try to understand it! Obviosly it's great. Obviously it's a masterpiece. Just feel how it's greatness washes over you!
This one was a big miss as certain pair of commentators might say. Big let down.
Nolan is literally the best of both world. Critical and box office success. Earn tons of money by doing his dream projects
Just seen this, an excellent film. I was fairly confused for a decent chunk of the movie so came here to get some thematic understanding! I wasn’t particularly attached to any of the characters, except maybe Kat, but the performances were brilliant. Conceptually it’s phenomenal. This film will get better with repeated viewing.

More well constructed interviewing from Edith. I was particularly taken by the comment about allowing it to 'Wash over' you. I couldn't agree more. A rational, linear analysis of this masterwork is a confounding, pointless endeavour. I have enjoyed so many reruns in my head for the last week... I shall be buying it on Blu Ray for sure!
I still think it more of a sequel to 'Inception' though. Just look at the 'Algorithm'.

This film just didn’t connect with me at all, emotionally un-engaging, convoluted nonsense. I like Nolan films but this fell flat. Don’t get his penchant for loud muddy sound mixes either
Nolan is influential, and probably needs to be interviewed more aggressively than this.
Other directors love him, because he gets his vision from head to screen with seemingly very little obstruction.
But that is a whole different field of interest from storytelling, for which he seems to care less.
I’m not convinced by him as a personality.
Like Spielberg, a fantastic craftsman, but a terrible philosopher.
As a big fan of Nolan I am pretty shocked by how terrible the film was. The editing and horrendous sound-mix made it almost unwatchable. The convoluted premise and nameless clothes-horse characters are just laughable. At least half the running time is characters on a walk-and-talk telling each other the plot, while deafening, discordant music blasts over the top for no reason.
Interesting concept wasted on a sterile script. Characters that you don't connect to. Criminal underutilisation of Clémence Poésy. Clear rules are not established for the inversion, and a lack of internal consistency is apparent. It rushes from scene to scene without taking time to breathe and make discovery of the next step believable. Some great action scenes, but overall the editing is either intentionally contributing to incomprehensibility or just incompetent. The climax especially is just a horrible mess, with the sheer chaos of it detracting from any excitement the viewer may otherwise feel. Memento covered similar ground in a much tighter and more satisfactory way.
The editing in this film was horrible. It did not in anyway allow you to get any closer to the characters than in his past films. The film abruptly cuts between scenes, lacks massively in continuity, and fails miserably in the finale due to a lack of reverse shots which show whom the Protagonist is firing at. This trend of obsequious interviewers in the face of Nolan needs to die. Ask him the hard questions. Ask detailed questions about the creative process. Don't simply compliment the work.
So lame.
I have a completely irrational dislike towards Edith Bownan! What qualifies her to be a film critic?? She's like nails down a blackboard! 😖😖😖Does anyone else agree? I think it's cause she's an ex radio one 'DJ'. Ewww she's unsuffferable!
style over substance- I got the story but it was rubbish.
This guy is nothing without an A-List cast, a top cinematographer and a good composer. Kubrick could make a great film without any of those.
A directors job is literally to bring those people together. Saying he knows how to get the best people to work together and make a great product is a compliment. Do you genuinely believe you would enjoy a Kubrick movie if it was poorly acted, shot and scored? Those are the 3 key components of a movie without them any director would have trouble.
