You are so FUNNY. Great video BUT… Don’t you realize that zucchini IS A SQUASH ?? It’s just another VARIETY of SQUASH. HOW can it be that so many otherwise INTELLIGENT people just don’t know this SIMPLE FACT ?? SMH ❤
I’m not sure what warranted you to say this, but at video marker 4:17 I said I liked squash better than zucchini… I know they are both classified as summer squash, but I wasn’t going to say I like squash better than squash? No different than us calling “pumpkins” by that name instead of calling them winter squash. I guess we all will go to the “winter squash patch” come fall this year. Come on now.
My kids like zucchini/squash bread so I just use the grater setting on my food processor and freeze in pre-measured portions so I can just thaw and add to the recipe. Sometimes the easy way saves more energy to get the other things done. Loved this video.
I prefer the yellow squash to zucchini too...nutty buttery flavor that zucchini lacks. Since it comes on same time as tomatoes, I make a summery soup with my canned tomatoes, chopped onions and sweet bell peppers, garlic and the squash but with a squeeze of lemon juice and favorite seasonings. Then melt a stick of butter in the chunky soup. So good!
awesome thank you! I love squash and zuchinni and my wife HATES it so I do a tactical surgical strike especially in the winter and put it in stews and what not, where it just melts away and you never knew it was ever there LOL 🔥
When my kids were little I’d make “garden sauce” (a mix of random veggies that of course included a nice variety of squash & zucchini) in my crock pot, once cooked I’d purée it with an immersion blender and sneak veggies into spaghetti sauce, taco meat, you name it. They never knew until the youngest was 16 and caught me adding it to dinner 😂😂😂 She was outraged that “garden sauce” was just veggies 😂😂😂 She now says she plans on using this tactic with her kids in the future 🙌🏽
I thought you had to blanch it first which always seems like a hassle to me especially if I am going to put it in squash casserole later on. So glad it works for you to skip that step!
If I know I will be making squash casserole I will season and boil a big batch...then ladle it out into a baggie and use liquid to cover...helps prevent freezer burn...takes up less space and is ready in a snap...I freeze corn on the cob by just leaving husks on maybe cutting a bit of silk end off to size for baggie....toss it in the freezer...taking out only what I need as I go...no wet cob taste
I just watched the video again to clarify what I may have said wrong. What I meant was people can and do fry the squash after freezing, either plain or pre-breaded. 99% of the time, I freeze raw and use in squash casserole. Hope this helps. Sorry for the confusion. You can literally freeze squash pre-breaded, raw, or just however you like.
@@harmonhomestead7434 no worries! I never have frozen squash, just tend to eat when in season and then switch to winter squash, but I'm always watching other channels to get new ideas and new ways of doing things. So the info is helpful!

Down here Squash is yellow and zucchini is green, and it is said that way to better distinguish the variety you are speaking of
I dehydrate shredded summer squash so easy, easy to cook. No room in the freezers.😊
Cool! 😎
I also put squash and zucchini when making dogs vegetable topper.
Good idea! 👍

Yes!! 👏👏 awesome! Thank you so much! 😊
That's what I have done too. But I like this idea of slicing and freeze. Good idea.
Good idea yellow squash always reminds me of my Mom she made it alot for me as a kid!! Miss those day's!! Take care and God Bless!! Janell ❤
Yes! It’s so easy and simple! God Bless! ❤️
I’m glad I found your channel, I just picked prolly 20 pounds. I’m going to vacuum seal them like this…
Awesome! Thank you and welcome! 🤗

That sounds amazing! 🤩
A really delicious squash is rugosa. It’s an heirloom Italian variety that has a nice savory nutty flavor, it’s my new passion!
I’m glad I found your video. I blanched them first and was looking for a different method.
👍😊good deal! And yes, I always just put mine straight in the freezer.
Hey you thanks for sharing your experience with us on how to preserving squash the easy way 😯🙂
You’re welcome! ☺️
I like the way you are so "matter of fact".
Well thanks! 😊
I freeze, can and freeze dry my Squash. More freeze dry than anything due to freezer space. Absolutely love it.
Awesome! 👏
Do you have a video with you frying squash?
No, not yet, but that may be in the works!
❤
😊

@@dana7340 🤣🤣🤣 kids... what do they know

I have never blanched it, and it works beautifully! I may be doing it against the rules, but it sure is better this way on me! 😊👍
I caned some this year for frying it is so good
👍

Need to put some of that squash under that table leg to stabilize it 😅
I guess so 🤣
Canning cabbage is easy and quick.
Nooooo. Canning plain cabbage is not USDA recommended. It must be pickled or preserved some other way. So that’s why we freeze. 😁
I wonder if you could freeze it whole ( to save freezer space) ?
I’m not sure… I believe it would take up more space whole compared to sliced. Just my thoughts but it’s worth investigating!
Do you ever find (for when you are frying it), that it gets more mushy after thawing versus raw? Or do the thicker slices hold up better?
I never fry mine after frozen. Only use boiled or in squash casserole. I would prebatter squash then freeze it if I was going to fry. 😊
@@harmonhomestead7434hmmm…not sure I understand this. You mention, more than once that you fry it with butter OR use it in a casserole?

What if they accumulate ice on them from freezer?
You will never know it if you use them in a casserole or soup.
