A wonderful requested score. "Cool Hand Luke" has a nice degree of originality added to it, thanks to composer Lalo Schifrin. Of course some typical and beloved Schifrin-Jazz sets some accents, too. A score for everybody. Enjoy!

As great as this masterpiece of a movie is, the soundtrack elevates it into rarified air. Simply magnificent is this score. It ranks up there with Morricone, and that is a bold statement indeed.
This was on the Retro channel last night and no matter how many times I watch it, I always get moved at the end when the music goes majestic and triumphant, now that Luke has a victory that they can't take away from him.
Highly sophisticated performance of this perfectly composed masterpiece in rhythmical tempo with perfect control of all the instruments and fully effective dynamics. Really cool!
One of my top ten pieces of music. When the strings come in!!! No "Failure to communicate" there. What about Newman singing "Plastic Jesus"? "I don't care if it rains or freezes long as I got my plastic Jesus sitting on the dash board of my car."
This might sound weird, but most of this makes good river music. The slow parts are the lazy, calm floating. The fast, hectic parts going through rapids.

I wonder what score won the Oscar that year? Lalo's score for Dirty Harry should have got a nomination, it was superb for that movie.
