Your best video yet, that entirely encourages more female designers. Ladies, he LOVES watches. It doesn’t have to be a car! You have encouraged me so much with the inner 10:year old who drew dashboards on maths paper. I will quickly amend a sketch and send it

Frank, I love your vids, you know, and thank you for answering my question about your own cars. I got another one: is there a project of which you have like pen sketches, better sketches, real plans, cad-drawings. Like from BIC pen to driving car? Would be awesome to see a complete design story. Having said that, all the best for 2024. I'm looking forward to more vids!

I just found your channel, and I love it. I would love to hear what you think about the Peugeot e-Legend Concept. I have seen it in person at the Geneva Car Convention in 2019, and I was blown away by the exterior. Keep up the great work!
can you look at some kind of Mercedes like the AMG ONE, new E class, anything and rate their design? i love Benz and their out of time designs with a not so agressive, rather beautyful front.

I'd be curious to hear your views on the Pagani Utopia. It got a lot of hate and I thought it was fske at first, bur for some reason now I love it. Such a strange but beautiful design, also the limitrd longtail they did, such a unique car
This is a very brave design and I like brave designs because, particularly with the rise of EV's, we have a rare ability to re-package and re-design what we consider to be 'a car'. There is less need now to follow regular protocols, which this design does very well imho...

Wonderful design assessment, and so many elements to learn from once again via an elaborate valuable clarification. Extremely encouraging 🙂
Before you begin, Frank, thought I would give my view. I like the racing car theme. I like the amount of air going though the car (Adrian Newey would be impressed). I like the way the rear comes out of the front, as if being squeezed out of a tube. But, the front is too low (unless it's a track car). Looks a bit wide (unlike the GMA T.50).

can you please have a look at the Smart #1? i think the design is really great, almost perfect, but it could use 1-5% more aggression.

Hi Frank, great video, just have a question: I am confused between the difference of car designing in an engineering perspective vs car design in an artistic perspective…can you please explain?
Thank you Wak! Sure. Car design is actually a combination of both art and science. What a designer designs has to be attractive and emotionally appealing, as well as conform to a lot of rules and regulations for engineering feasibility. It’s a fine balance between the two subjects. I think that’s what makes it so much fun and of course it’s challenging too. Good design sells and it can also make or break a new product. The engineering team typically wants you to simplify everything to guarantee a failproof car (which then tends to stifle any innovative ideas) and the finance department wants you to spend as little as possible of the overall program budget to make the very best car that will rake in the profits. It seems like an oxymoron situation most of the time.

The front of that sketch looks far too similar to the Pagani Huayra. Look at the headlights and the center of the front bumper.

Ever since government decided to tax carmakers on the basis of cross-fleet fuel economy , everything became visually homogenous. The tyranny of the wind tunnel made everything from all the makers look the same. Perhaps we should say that BMW's bizarre departures from convention should be respected more if only for the fact that they are struggling to find a new originality. The sketch in this video suggests a young designer with above average talent but that little exercise belongs more at Mattel than at a real maker. Even if it was a dedicated racer , the car would have to be taken on and off a trailer with a vertical lift. Entrance and egress look like you'd have to be a contortionist to live with this. And as you pointed out , those black areas gloss over some design aspects that have to be seen as workable and without seeing the details the whole underside is designer pie-in-the-sky. If there is one thing that I would say to this talented young woman it would be to separate your emotions from your work to the point where you become better at critiquing your creations than anyone else. Earn a black belt in objectivity and use that developed ability to evolve your ideas until even you can't break your designs. Push every detail to a breaking point and then create an angle that you can't break. If you don't do that , trust me , others will. But the design shows bright promise. Keep hacking at it and become great!

Probably the new MINI. It created a new factory, many jobs, lots of dealerships, lots of loyal customers and many variants.
