I have used my phone as a PC for a very long time and it works perfectly for the 3 particular things I do when connecting it to big screen. Using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse I review my emails and reply if needed, I watch youtube and browse the news, it also does social media stuff easily. I use the native cast option in my phone to view things on the TV. I often do this when I have like 15-20 minutes of available time, for longer sessions I rely on my rig.
Which phone do you use?
50$ adapter omfg they make that for a few cents
It's the Apple Tax
gucci apple tax get with it
Yes mate, but profit exists.
Use chinese ones
Microsoft this is your time to shine. Where you at?
De ViceCrimsin Dead
They did this Long ago. Alas.
You can run Windows on Snapdragon 835.
They're busy playing xbox
Busy working on project Andromeda. Where you at pal? 1960?
«I’ve figured out why you smell, call me”😂
This is how I do it too, and I am glad that there is a video that promotes this awesome setup!!! I use the same equipment (Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter and 4K HDMI cables from Costco) except I use an iPhone 6s Plus, Logitech K780 wireless Bluetooth keyboard, a Logitech Triathlon wireless Bluetooth mouse and a different TV/monitor.
Wow, I love it! Most of the time I prefer the full-on ease and functionality of a laptop, so I invested $1600 for a cool HP recently. But I love these accessories that can attach to my iPhone: I'm quite deft with a touch keypad, but I prefer the physical one. Plus, if I can project my iPhone to a monitor or TV, even better.
Thank you for posting great insight.
Also, how can I get the Bluetooth keyboard. I mean I do like the one on the video. Thank you.
Dr P: I have figured out why you smell. Please call
Did you do any research or just start trying to connect things? iOS 13+ supports Bluetooth mice as an assistive touch (accessibility) device.
If i want to connect my phone with tv ,then what type of tv required
Because i want just big screen to use recorded lecture
How did you manage to make the buttons larger when the timer/alarm goes off
Excellent video 👍
5 years later!! Revisit this please.
THANKS FOR GIVING INFORMATION
Simple
Don't buy apple
Buy android for PC experience
Dylan Weise very simple
Keydock gives an even better docking experience!
Very original video !!
This is really cool and works for a fair percentage of use cases. My opinion, it will never be a thing. I was all over this with the Microsoft implementation with the doomed Windows phone. It worked great but there are already too many PC's and laptops around to make this necessary. And even if your not around a PC most folks won't use the add-ons necessary to make this work. What makes a Smartphone so attractive is the lack of friction in its use. The minute you add friction most people will not adapt.
That's it. If you put some thought to removing that friction, it can work in different use cases.
Apple NEEDS a desktop mode
Add a dual monitor support would make it perfect
Being a minimalist, my dream is to dock a phone and use it as a PC. I don't think Apple will ever do it as they want to sell you multiple devices and you just don't have many pro apps on Android. My hopes was with Microsoft with their phone, hopefully running a version of Windows, but they've moved to using Android now too.
Where can we purchase all this fittings?
How i can get this keyboard? And how can i connect itu with my mobile?
I have often thought this is a good idea my current phone is considerably more powerful than my laptop
@@janof7979 Idk about the guy who made this comment, but for me this is true.
My phone specs:
Snapdragon 845
6gb ram
64gb storage
My laptop specs:
Intel i5 3rd gen dual core (worse than sp 845 and with way worse integrated graphics)
6gb ram (like my phone)
256gb ssd (the only thing that's better)
And my laptop is enormous, thick and heavy.
@Tatura not everyone is willing to upgrade to the most expensive laptop, because most people don't use their laptops as often as their phone. Think about it, spending 1000 on a laptop that you will use from time to time in comparison to spending that same amount of money on a phone that you will use for hours on a day to day basis. People buy expensive phones because they get value for their money, and if we enable them to get the features that a laptop provides, we can eliminate a portion of the laptop market for good, which I don't see as a bad thing.
Lucio57Ytb • Reborn I agree with you
@@janof7979
Current middle spec phones are on par with some 2012 low end hardware, specially when comparing cpu and ram.
My Redmi Note 8 runs dolphin almost just as good as my old FX 4100 did, for example. If I could somehow plug in mouse and keyboard and use it like a PC, my need for notebooks would ne completely eliminated. Why waste 500 bucks in a notebook if a $10 adapter does the same job?
@@lucio57ytb79 Then your in the wrong line of work if you are only occasionally using your laptop.
One day my contact lens is a computer, and I'm going to type with my thoughts. They're working on it.
As for the mouse part, not true. The hardware you would need to be able to use a mouse is there, but no one’s developed the software integration because IOS is supposed to be touch-based. There’s a guy named Louisdh on GitHub who along with his swift-based iOS terminal, OpenTerm, has developed a block of code which enables mouse support on given apps. It’s just that no one has seen this integrated on IOS devices whether it’s an iPhone equipped on a monitor with a keyboard, or an iPad. I think IOS 13 or so should become a full fledged version of OSX with integration of some PC capabilities which IPhones and IPads are capable of handling, and not just a microkernal which people make an excuse to jailbreak.
Please do I need a Windows Simulator App to use my Phone as PC? And if so what Windows Simulator App would be the best. Thanks. I've just subscribed.
How do you connect a wired mouse and connect it to your tv at the same time without Apple TV
I would use Samsung Dex pad
I’m waiting for the day that a phone will power steam games
Fun fact: you can already do it remotely.
It's streaming, so it's not exactly that... But you can play any supported steam game with your phone. Just need a fast internet connection and the rig turned on.
Henri Confucius but you need a really good pc though
@@rjhills7982
Yeah... Hope steam (and the devs) consider adding android support.
Wish granted

This guy is awesome!
Well I'm using my Xiaomi phone with Logitech K480 Keyboard and M337 Mouse. Both are bluetooth, and this way I can charge my phone while using it. But true, some apps don't work in landscape which is a put off. Also, I have my desktop in landscape as well, thanks to Nova Launcher.
im waiting for this on my iphone x
Couldn’t we just use a virtual desktop app on the iPhone/Android phone, and plug the phone into the adapter and to the TV? Shadow is a virtual desktop I use that I can run windows on.
Great video. I’m currently looking for the best phone to use for college and I’m wondering which one you recommend.
I use Microsoft office often.
I need to to take notes on with an electric pen.
I’d like to be able to attach a keyboard and a mouse to it.
Samsung galaxy note
How to buy this coneecting device
Well done buddy, thanks for posting.
DeX does allow multi tasking
Long overdue. Hope it comes soon.
This is basically what I had foolishly expected when I first upgraded to a decent smartphone.
I thought I would be able to do most of what I use my computer for with my phone and a stylus. I realised though that there were a number of drawbacks.
Same problem with the tiny screen, the problem of a full qwerty keyboard using 40% of the screen and ultimately, processing power was too poor.
I did consider a mouse and keyboard, but then you destroy the key feature of a phone: it's portability. Also, software is very stripped back for phones and doesn't have all of the features you might need.
I've considered a tablet many times, but ultimately it's just a big phone with many of the same problems
If you researched this thoroughly, you will find your phone is more than capable and the screen issue can be circumvented. Have done it.
So buy a nice laptop. I have one
Even my galaxy s9 doesnt have the same power that my desktop does and they wont for a very long time. You cant put a rtx 2080 ti in a smart phone or a i9 with 64gb of ram. The phones are limited by battery and how much heat the phone can remove passively which isnt much. Its a fun idea to think you could have a small computer that fits in your pocket that has the same power as a data server but its not going go happen. Atleast not in our lifetime
@@ThePharaohsCat this was years ago and I'd bought a mid-tier phone. By now most phones are probably capable, processor-wise, and software has improved.
I have a decent, fairly small laptop which meets the needs. Good battery life and portability are key
Projector laser keyboard may even higher power of computing and interface cleaner and light
nexdock 360 +any samsung s series phon starting from the s8 is the best combo
Projector keyboard with cpu extension and full OS attach to phone then full fletch computer system or keyboard with scratch pad in keyboard
hahaha. dr. P I discovered why you smell. Please call! ingenious little joke. made my day !!!
These phones wont replace all standard computer stuff and i can think of alot if stuff right off hand that wouldnt work just because of the lack of graphics power
Where can I get this keyboard?
Coolblue
I will try this
Can anyone help me list the tools I require to turn my OnePlus into a pc?
Put it in landscape mode and fix your apple tv vertically by one side.. prob fixed
Combine these with Remote Desktop app and maybe pc stick u got a better use
Samsung DEX can do this and its optimized for it
Samsung Dex only for Samsung flagships...
@@yogayoga8603 you can buy a used S9 for like 300 bucks
And that day is here.
I like the way you write...
Cool article 😎😎😎😎😎
I totally agree that the future should be like that. One smartphone as a multi use device that replaces pc and laptops. I imagine even more: a smartphone with 2 or more RAM drives that will allow 2 or more Operating Systems to be instaled and booted at choice. And in the future maybe even a smartphone with added projector capability so you can wide screen it everywhere. In the meantime the smartwatch will take from the function of the smartphone as a call, fitness/health monitoring, personal digital id and e-payments device (once nfc will be more spread). If humanity will give up on the consumist-capitalist waste of resources, maybe we will see this things happening in our life time, else, at the pace the products evolve, because of anti-evolution and conservative marketing/sale strategies, "... the dust from our bones will be gone" (#Troy quote) before this things will happen. 😢
i am waiting for this perfect moment. i will be using only a smartphone and dump my desktop and laptop. all i need is a smartphone(pc) and other accessories. Imagine i go work i plug my phone to monitor . boom a desktop experience. when off work i just plug out and take my phone home with me and plug into my home monitor .. boom Netflix and gaming on big monitor. it actually save more money for me as an individual so i no need to get myself a upgrade on both phone and laotop every few year. i just invest in a good phone every 2 years and a good monitor. boom .. simple life. tech just make my life more easier instead of making it more complicated.
Agree.. the point is 1 gadget for everything you need.. haha.. hope that all company will adopt it soon..
Actually mouse is locked behind Accessibility setting > assistive touch > connect a mouse (you dont need to enable assistive touch to do this)
Or use a phone and iPad. (the phone allows the iPad to get an internet connection)
A bit short...and few references to Samsung’s proof of concept which is mature and ready to turn your device into a pc
Isn’t this guy from the verge?
He left the verge like 2 years ago, now lauren too switched to somewhere else (maybe she too came to WSJ). The verge is like a jumping board for tech journalist apearently.
Now this joke is relevant...

*Can it run Devil May Cry 5?*

The mouse is supported on ios now
*gasp* he said

How is this new?
I hope there are no fake news here
Nothing will replace a desktop in terms of brute computational power for 1 simple reason, size. Desktops need to be large for a reason, because the CPU's/GPU's/RAM are many times more powerful than what can be found on even the latest and greatest phone, and in exchange for that power you get a lot of heat. To dissipate that heat, you need fans and large heatsinks (some even use AIO water cooling), none of which would fit on a phone.
Granted, if all you do is use social media, stream, and do spread sheets, then you dont need a PC.
People have been using 1GB and 2GB desktops and laptops for years. Only specialists need the brute power. Besides phones are 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM now, much more powerful than the 2GB MacBook Air I'm writing on. The issue is the screen and the UI. How to make a large screen portable in the absence of a dock?
We can use phones keyboard
You can now connect a mouse and keyboard on ios
Samsung dominates with Dex feature!
But can you use 2 monitors with this?
I can't live without one.
will this work with my telephone? :P
Lol
Did he say $50 adapter :0
IOS is just not as productive as Android as android has many abilities for file management has added mouse support or even Samsung DEX which is included on all of Samsung's latest products. Also android offers compatibility to usb's and hard drives for all file types videos, photos, documents and APK's. This allows the user to store data and transport it or you could use a micro SD card to add additional storage to your device. Apple I know has added USB-C but IOS only has support for photo's and videos making it not have much use in productivity. If Apple were to get rid of IOS and give the new Ipads their OSX (Personally I don't like OSX but the chance of Apple putting windows or android on it is very low) It would make the Ipad more productive and powerful as I have to admit the Ipad X is very powerful and can even be compared to intel's i5. Go ahead and leave what you have to say in the comments about this topic.

Phones are not providing dual or multiple booting yet. Limited number of OS. Near no choice. Limited menus or only minimal menus for a program. How about adding phone function to a mini PC that is easy to carry. Then we can use Debian Linux, Windows, Mac OS ... Wait! It is not so powerful PC.
change the volume on you screen, should be easily fixed. Why is this progress soooo slow ?
imagine this with a huawei mate xs
Ok, but.. does it make coffee???
Piet Toast combine it with switch bot-
this option is so uncomfortable, not only d u not have the whole functionality of Microsoft apps, but you dont have windows fetures as well such as adjusting screen size or storage space and without windows your missing out on a lot
This is not going to work because when you tap to type , phone keyboard will open automatically as usual and hides the phone halfly, which looks annoying...
0:06 NO.. The Answer is NO
If we change data encryption then phone can store all data past future and entire universe
If we need all this stuff i think it is better to buy a pc
Better use a laptop since it has bigger screen and more powerful processor
The solution lies in VR. Nobody wants to wear a big bulky VR headset either, so before they work on integrating your phone experience with your desktop experience, they just need to work on making VR extremely light, fashionable, powerful, user friendly, functional, and inexpensive. Then you can integrate the two technologies. So. There’s your answer. You’re welcome.
Get ready for the Apple ARM revolution.... expect Apple to finally start to use some of their patented laptop designs that use the iPhone as the brains .... they really did patent this.... very cool stuff...oh... and iOS 13 has full mouse support now....2020
How would rate the iphone 13pro as a desktop replacement (with added mouse and monitor)? - Thanks.
Microsoft display adapter and your life will be 10 times better.
So get a cellular tablet instead?
