    Is the hood necessary the purple one you showed earlier

    • @KarynThurston
      @KarynThurston  2 роки тому

      Hi Daniella! The hood isn't necessary, no - it has no structural bearing on the carrier, and honestly, I just take them off and use a baby hat instead. That said, lots of folks love the hood! Because I take them off, I didn't even have the hood for this carrier with me when I made the video - that's why I subbed in the purple one from another LILLEbaby. ;)
      Hope that helps!

    Thank you for making the video! I got a used carrier from a friend and I downloaded the manual and could not figure out how to use it!! 🤯 Was ready to buy a different one! But I do have two questions! I'm a first time mom. My son is 3 weeks old. Do I narrow the base for him and have his legs hang out or have him squish them on the inside? And you went over the infant support strap on the inside really fast and couldnt see it very well, how does that go?

    • @KarynThurston
      @KarynThurston  2 роки тому

      Hi Melissa! Congrats on the new little one! With a newborn, my preference is definitely to narrow the seat and have their legs out. He should be facing you, and you’re looking for a nice c-shaped curve in his back - not slouchy, but not pulled so tight that it forces his back straight. Aim for his legs, knees, and bum to make an M shape, with his knees up a bit above his bum. You’ll need the waistband of the carrier pretty high on your waist to get that good seat - he should be high enough on your chest that you can kiss him easily without straining your neck. As far as the infant support strap is concerned, honestly, I wouldn’t worry about using it. It’s an optional piece that met an old standard in Europe - newer versions of the carrier don’t have it.
      I’ve got a few other videos that go into detail about good fit and adjustment - check them out if anything here is confusing! It’s always a little tricky to communicate this stuff in text.
      Best of luck, and feel free to comment back if you have more questions!

    This has been very helpful! Do you have recommendations on how to carry a 2.5 month old? I worry about his hips, especially since the doctor heard a tiny bit of clicking in his hip last time. She never heard it any other time and doesn't believe it's anything, but I just want to be sure I'm carrying him correctly. Do you recommend using receiving blankets and legs inwards? Or narrowing the bottom to allow his legs out?

  • @TiffanyMcGlothlin
    @TiffanyMcGlothlin Рік тому

    I’m concerned about his legs. He’s big enough to have it wider. I can’t pull his legs out this far but he seems cramped with them beneath him. If it’s thin, I pull them out to the side but that seems uncomfortable.

      Different carriers work, or don't work, for different folks! For me, once I got the setting where I wanted them on the LILLEbaby, it was by far the most comfortable buckle carrier of all the brands I tried and owned, and super simple to use every day. So for me, the initial learning curve was VERY worth it in the long run - for you, another carrier or style of carrier may wind up being your fave!
      Local babywearing libraries or Buy/Sell/Trade groups might make it easier to try different styles or swap your LILLE for something else if that winds up being your preference!
