("Headbangers Ball" Interview with Phil and Dime outside of Le Zenith + Walk recorded at the gig)
Back in the days when Phil was still able to talk at a normal speed hahaha.
+Pæblo León Right, when He did not know that heroin would change him forever. Nevertheless, He wrote great music with Down. It is scared how that shit can change people and their behavior and attitude toward friends. I really believe Phil carries a huge weight on his shoulder. Dimebag's death was a massive shame. A few years after he released an interview where He apologized for what happened to Dimebag. Sooo sad that Dimebag's family did not want him attending the funeral. But, who knows, probably it was a choice imposed by the great sense of sorrow.
+Stefano Di Leonardo Sorry, but it was Dimebag's weed that fried Phil's brain.
***** I used to enjoy reading his thoughtful, funny, interviews in magazines like RIP. Now I just want to be wherever he speaks and throw something at his head.
+nkmcfrln You clearly have not watched any interviews of his that took place within the last two or three years then. He might not be able to speak as fluidly as he did before the heroin addiction but anyone actually listening to what comes out of his mouth can tell that his mind is still very much intact. He is still very much thoughtful and intelligent.
You guys are all giving Phil too much credit. He was dumb to begin with. The heroin simply accentuated his natural self.
Dimebag's hair was glorious!
Danjoker ⚡⚡⚡
Danjoker I think that was the year Pantene came out. jokes, that shampoo was crap....dried your will to live right out
Checking out Men’s hair no homosexual tendencies there
Kyle Lang Montreal Canadians fan.... No homosexual tendencies there.
Yes it was lol
I wish I could go back in time and save Dimebag.
You, me and everybody else.
we would also save phil from fucking drugs
+Tzour Draws but Phil never died and he saved himself in the end
Tzour Draws na drugs made Phil
Same here dude. I would save Dime, Randy Rhoads and a whole bunch of others too.
This is how I want to remember them.
yea... I like to think they are still like this
yes, it's sad and beautiful at the same time, but this is how life works
the world's unfair
yes
unknwn_usr the world lost dimebag but Justin beaver gets to live.
Dimes reaction to being called diamond is priceless XD she didn't get the memo of his new nickname lol
lol yea that's what i was thinking before i even scrolled down to view the comments. you could tell he was thinking, "hah..you heard that?"
Actually he was still Diamond during this era. It was in '94 that he changed his name.
that was his nick name when they started..... dumb ass
know your history before commenting
yeah man, Diamond was his original name. Even Phil considers him as Diamond even after being Dimebag for so many years.
Phil and Dime seemed like the coolest people to hang out with back then.
kalebpost20 mostly dime and vinnie
Humble people
My friend met them in 93. Dime was super cool (of course) but Phil just apparently grunted lol
Vinnie and dime most definitely
I pray to this video
dime's hair was fucking great. no homo.
he really has great hair.. even better than some women
Better than pretty much all woman's hair because almost all woman put a bunch of chemicals and shit because they don't like natural hair and dimes was just his natural hair.
joe Costello true !
***** Dude I've seen you comment on Metal Sanaz videos, we're watching the same videos. Rock on dude!
Nacho Gonzalez I totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!
funny to see phil talking fast
+philoouw yea for once he isnt dunk or high
+Nate Hagerman you can find so many interviews of dimebag, rex, and vinnie drunk too. Stop classifying judgement on a man who was in one of the biggest partying bands. They all drank and did drugs.
luke knutson ik but most of the interviews i see its usually phil who is noticeably high
haha right
philoouw when you're on speed and Beer you'll talk quick and slippery too
Give me a fucking time machine.
Geanos Uron that's what this video is
@@TornadoOfSouls777 To an extent
Dimes hair... it was like an epic fucking entity with it's own consciousness!
Dime's hair is beautiful tho
Dime is beautiful
I'm so jealous of dime's hair . Its perfection
Yea man wish I'd look awesome like him in long hair
I'm a dude and want his hair and I already have nice hair
This... Makes me sad... Dime looked great. Phil sounded great. Man The "good ole' days" is an understatement...
Yep... 😞😢
We all lose our youth. One of the saddest aspects of life.
Interviewer: "How can it be heavier? My god."
Dimebag: "No problem"
Inabón Diaz wasn’t The Great Southern Trendkill their heaviest work?
Luka Anchabadze oh I thought it was reinventing the steel
@@prestonmalloy6963 I'd say far beyond driven
Best part of the interview!
I reckon fbd and gstk are about the same
Who wouldn't go right back to '92 if you could?
Fuck living in my dad's nutsack again
Slob Lob Hey, at least it was rent free.
orangedrone 😂
dtownlove10 I was only 4. Butttttttttttt holy shit dime is a whole snacc
fuck yes
I love it...almost every question she asks, Dime says maybe two words and laughs, and Phil's answers go all super thoughtful and in depth for 5 minutes. By far my favorite 2 personalities in music. Can't believe that was 22 fucking years ago.
And if you had to choose only one from both, who would you choose?
Nintendonix That's two of the best in the business, right there. If I was hiring one them to play a show, I'd go with Phil cuz he's alive and wutnot. RIP Dimebag
QuesoCFH Time flies! I was 22,pffff...Still can't believe what happenned, what's going on out there, fucking mad...Dime's up there with EVH,Yngwie,Michael Shenker,George Lynch and Randy...Hello from France :)
nicolas sosolic EVH And Yngwie arnt dead ....
Retro Signal Ha. I thought the same until I realized that he meant, up there with the great guitarists in status and acheivements in the music industry. Not in heaven which also can be questionable.
4:15-4:21 where it zooms in on Dimes face. What a beautiful man.
He's the perfect man.
Damn, Phil was so vibrant and coherent back then.
4:15 dimebag realizes the camera man is getting a close up\
4:21 he death stares the camera man, as he shifts view back to phil lmao
im high as fuck
+lightsouthaha they should make some kind of meme with that face
That was funny
You can hear Phil's voice getting deeper over the years
MegaCrasherMusic he become more a extreme vocalist
His voice didn’t get deeper it was drugs
Brad M. He never did the sugery back then that way he start to use heroin
Your Daddy Slays Them To Death he had back surgery in the mid 90’s dumbass. That would have nothing to do with his voice getting deeper. Just age, smoking cigarettes and weed, also he’s from Louisiana, he’s always had a southern drawl to his voice.
deeper and slower.. like doom metal
'92 MTV's vs Nowadays MTV's...
No further comment...
Dimebag honestly seems so nice and chill in all his interviews. I don't think i ever heard him say bad words towards anyone. It's amazing how different him & Phil's personalities are lol.
What's wrong with Phil in this interview?
videomakertje its because phil has a rude personality. Thats not even meant in a negative way. He just wanted the fans to kick each others teeth out while dimebag is more like that.."yeah thats cool..." guy :D
Mmmmm yeah but, there is a fact here...Phill wasnt on drugs in this interview and others before this. You can see it in his eyes, his words. He doesnt insult and anything. Phill and Dime where really good friends in those times. Everything fucked up after the drugs issues.
Seb Citt You Gotta Love Phil...But If It wasn't for Pantera this guy would spending a life sentence at San quentin prison for Murder.
Seb Citt dime never stopped loving Phil, he got hooked on h and hard liquor and it completely mind fucked him, dime reached out to Phil more than anyone else in his life and there's no excuse but Phil just had no comprehension of what was to come non one did and to this day he lives with probably the utmost guilt anyone even his brother has or had. I like Phil, i know 75 percent of pantera fans hate him. People carry different opinions but i think dime would want vinnie to let it go and squash this grief.
Phil truly used to be a very intelligent, very funny guy. Don't do drugs, kids!
He still is bro!
is more because of alcohool only destroys people minds
+MiLk MaN sorry dude but he was much more intelligent here than he is today don't try and deny it man he is practically a vegetable nowadays!
Now hes on some other level crazy guy introspective shit.
gnarmad fucking amazing how people think you'll be the same person 30 years later. dipshits
Only now after all these years do you realise what a fukn great period of time this was
Apollo K
yes mam
Dime was so beautiful! He was my 1st metalhead crush. I was 16yo when VDoP came out & it's still one of my favourite albums to listen to. Dime's death was a tragic, an immense loss for the metal community.
*tragic not 'a tragic'
These two men were my sexual awakening. I was about 11 or 12 when I saw stuff from Cowboys from Hell and everything changed and I knew what boys were on this planet for😅 One of my absolute most cherished memories was from all the way back in 1992 when my friend lived right up the street from the club The Basement. They were playing there and me and my friend walked up there (keep in mind that we were 12) desperate to see the show. Of course we were stopped at the door. Bouncer guy was not having it and we were about to lose all hope when Rex and Phil came over and asked what was going on. Of course we're completely starstruck and just standing there with our mouths agape. While the bouncer guys trying to explain that we just want to come in to see the show but it's 18 and up show dime who was standing a few feet back just yells "Let the f****** kids in! They're not going to bother anybody man just make them stand by the door." The three of them give us nods of approval and just walk away to the stage. They let us stand inside the door for 3 songs. That is one of my most precious memories in this world.
@@thewebbqueen38nice story and to live by , you are Queen🖤 , you cute by the way🤙🏼🌹
No homo but dime looks pretty good in this interview
Nice to see Phil before destroying his brain with heroin
You know he had died for like 4-5 minutes too, right,
Snake yeah... because of heroin
Hosta mahogey thank you captain obvious
Phil was so fucking beautiful.
So are you!
+Eddie Hellgren So are you!
Eddie Hellgren
Awww thank you :)
+Babydoll You're welcome ;)
+Lizz Thrasher Oh thanks 😊 Haha did this Pantera interview become flirting conversation? 😅
Watching Phil now you can definitely tell he died for a few minutes.
bladerunner1b Damn, now THATS a hardcore statement.
That's what years of screaming, smoking and drinking does to ya,unfortunately I'm the same way... but it was a hell of a ride
Heroin, dude.. Heroin does..
Tin Fiolić no it's not heroin. everyone says that with no experience. it's booze trust me. opiates only do a number on your kidneys and liver. booze does that plus rots your brain.
Aaron Hildebrand it was heroin man, obviously you don't follow what happened, Phil has talked many times about his heroin abuse.
HOLY SHIT!! Phils fucking voice has changed alot since 1992
decades of smoking, drinking and screaming.
dtownlove10 yeah I was thinking that lol
Harrison Willans age also has a factor
yeah true
Harrison Willans drugs😂😂😂
Pantera and Alice In Chains. Id give my soul to go back in time and hear my single two favorite rock bands play together on tour....
bro freakin same fuuuck x( both of those bands are probably my favorite forsure
Me three…if Layne could of stayed healthy..I loathe heroin…
If you set the video to half speed it's basically what Phil talks like now.
+DaemoniumCC I actually did it after I read this...and my jaw hit the floor with how accurate that statement was. Haha holy fuck, fuck heroin and substance problems. Sheesh.
Cameron Walega Pretty terrible shit, dude.
Went to his "Loudwire: Fact or Fiction" segment and was blown away. Had to set it to 1.5x to make him sound like a normal human being. I'm not even joking dude. He talked so slow that they had to put it into TWO parts. Every other segment one was only ONE. I'm not joking dude.
Cameron Walega Haha I've seen that, and yup. Listening to him now kinda puts me to sleep. And he's also drunk most of the time so it's like ehh.
He's like that drunk uncle you see at family gatherings that usually ends up getting too drunk and starting fights.
The more time goes by, the more grateful I am to have seen Pantera and White Zombie live 18 years ago. Nothing really kicks that much ass anymore.
Sure they do Poison is out there still rocking hard
Seen Slayer and Pantera on the extreme steel tour :D im 29
Phil and Dime are easily the best looking blokes in metal
dimes hair is majestic
4:17 "where and who am I?"
Jorge Chiosso lol
Darrell the loner xd
Looks more like he was cringing at Phil's statement
"am i living or just existing?"
omfg Dime's laugh at 2:18 just made me miss him even more.
So beautiful
Phil's expression and laugh at 4:37 is priceless that needs to be a gif.
7:42
Vanessa - "How can it be heavier, my god!"
Dimebag - "It will be, psh, no problem."
Dele Xovich this cracked me up 😂
Pshhhh never a problem. we Miss you Dime bag Darrel, “Brotha”
I hate how most interviewers tend to give all the attention to the the vocalists. I understand they're technically the "frontmen" but god damn give some questions to the guitarists too. RIP Dime
Funny how they said next album will be heavier and bam!! Far Beyond Driven !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, Dime is so hot
It's a damn shame these two will never share the stage again. I was lucky enough to see Pantera twice, and those two shows still stand as some of the best shit I have ever witnessed in my life!
YOu can definitely see how Darrell contemplates Phils every answer. Very Haunting and Awesome. His eyes tell the tale.
Nice of Phil mentioning Alice In Chains \m/
James Rodolfo he was thinking it would be nice to be on the road with them and all that heroin.
I liked his story in another video of one thanksgiving where he and Layne (my two faves ever) went out to a titty bar then rolled a homeless man.
Legends recognize Legends....... Hell Yeah!!
GypsyRock where is this video ? Please
James Rodolfo he did a interview at a College or a speech on drugs really and he only mentions Kurt and Layne during the whole hour and a half and I said the same as u.in my opinion Layne is right there with Kurt .
Dam I miss Headbangers Ball and Vanessa Warwick . that was also the best time in metal music ever . so much great metal bands . old good days ...
Pantera and Alice In Chains co-headlining would be the most amazing thing ever 11:06
very very true. Alice in Chains is in my top favorite bands ever all ive been listening too lately is Pantera and Alice n Chains
I wish Dimebag talked more in this interview.
INTENSE Action His hair and his solos do the talking for him
Phil was such a babe back in the day
+Sara Glascock I know right?? Makes me wish we were in the early 90's right now.
He is back to his babe self now, have you seen him?
Oh lookie! Phil with a brain! He's actually able to speak fluently and actually had a cadence to him. Those were the days...
Dimebag’s gorgeous here.
Really sad how drugs really messed up Phil. He sounds like a normal dude here... Now he sounds all jacked up.
Well considering that he hardly can even get the words out he's thinking of...
Colton Vance
I saw Down last year and he was into it in every way, put on a great show and to be honest wowed everyone with the energy, and his stage banter was great. No need to feel sad for him.
He does seem very different here. A lot more calm that's for sure. And not as angry either lol.
Becoming Godsize hey now!!! We are not slow over here in New Orleans.. well, what you mean when you say that is Louisiana !. I know lots of millonares just in my tiny little parish not far from New Orleans.... they didn't become millionaires by being slow! Phil s dad was a business man, It looks like he is too, he's not hurting for anything.. I don't know why people think people from Louisiana are stupid! My niece graduated from high school with a 4.7 and the funny part is she was like 6th in her class! She didn't get a scholorship anywhere because they had so many kids graduating with very high gpa's and other scores. We are not all stupid. Just like any other state ..It really pisses me off, especially when I date a guy from out of state. Lol. Automatically thinks he's smarter, and I'm submissive ! Ha!
babesinmusicland How can they not? every damn movie with Cajuns/creoles just portrays an alligator wrestling stereo type. Southern culture in general is portrayed as backwards. sometimes its justified and sometimes its not but Louisiana is a separate entity from the rest of the south in my opinion
Two beautiful, talented, conscious men that took over the world and I was just too young to live through it. This is what I want and don’t come across it, they sure don’t make ‘em like this anymore!
They do make 'em like this but they're hidden, music is full of poser arseholes now. Culture is controlled more .....

Dimebags hair was so gorgeous and flawless
This is how I remember my boys!
Dime looking at the interviewer like she's on the dinner menu. Haha! I miss him dearly. RIP you big hairy stoner. :D
deathvalleyjoyride 😂😂😂 the dinner menu 😂😂
He seemed like a nice guy. So sad he had to die like that. Really awful shit.
what part of the video? lol the beginning?
It kills me seeing how metal has changed since then. I like change but it's evolved in such a weird way. There's still some good shit though.
+Clayve Amen brother.
amen 👍
amen 👍
gojira is pretty damn good
+Remmy 315
Battlecross, Anterior, Sylosis, Karybdis, loads more..
Dime was hilarious in this video, how is staring at the interviewer.
in what part of the video? lol
@@Cheaps928 the way beginning. He looks her up and down and then smirks at the camera lol
just watchng this video gives me such a nostalgia...
6:31 the way dime look phil hahaha like " wtf is this dude saying "
When they are talking about the next recording in the future and saying how it's gonna be even heavier than vulgar display of power. "How can it get any heavier". Hahaha and holy fuck they fucking made it heavier alright. FAR BEYOND DRIVEN!
The heaviest record ever made man!
+Riley Orchard Phil says, "Trust me, it will be." Dime says, "Pfft, no problem."
Evan Goch Trendkill is heavy as fuck as well. But in my opinion it's more experimental than FBD.
Eddie Hellgren Took the words from my mouth. There are the songs on that album like 10s and suicide note part 1 that are the reason i say its not as heavy as far beyond driven, which is consistently heavy as fuck all the way through.
+Riley Orchard Totally agree! Even some parts in the middle of Floods and Living Through Me that are pretty different. It's killer, but very unique at that time. FBD is pretty much a straight assault all the way through 😂 Except "Bottle of Pills"
Phil: Clear voice, quick replies. ..You know😉
Dime: Stoony as hell ha ha
0:17 lol @ dimes face when she calls him "diamond"
Goniloc i am aware, i just thought his face was funny
Goniloc Seen him in the 1991 interview and he corrects 'Diamond' for 'Dimebag' xD
***** Because at that time he had changed from Diamond to Dimebag. He was Diamond at one point, though.
Goniloc Yeah I know but by at this point I think he preferred Dimebag. You can see when she calls him diamond he's like "for fuck sake" xD.
***** yea you can tell by his expression that he had no interest in being called diamond, definitely preferred dimebag at this point in time..i believe he changed the preference during recording of vulgar, phil mentioned it to him and he liked it so changed it too dime
Diamond is a nickname and they don't die.
Yo, what up Mattster?!
Rip m169, Vinnie, and Dime.
Man Idk why but I have this unexplainable urge to have been born earlier and somehow been Dimebag’s friend. Seemed like the friendliest person out there and I heard many awesome stories about him. Dude was taken away from us way too soon. May he (and now his brother Vinnie too ) rest in peace.
Phil’s voice went from standard tuning to drop F over the years
_Thank you brothers_
12:07 😂😂 Dime’s look
2:30 😂 I love these guys. Wish so badly I coulda been a friend of PanterA’s
when Phil was talking about co headlining and said doing it with AIC, man if that could happen.
That would be insane
actually happen back then
ua-cam.com/video/gyfK2nDkxHc/v-deo.html
Phil. Pre-brain fry.
Does heroin fry the brain? I don't know
MagikDood Do you think overdoses, and multiple near death experiences requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation fry the brain ? I fucking do. I'm 40 and followed the band from the beginning. Was my fucking life.
Phil was so strong, so powerful in the beginning. It was fucking painful watching that mans demise through the duration. I don't understand why he gets such cult following. The shit he put Dime, and Vinnie through fucking disgusts me. I've had problems with drug addiction as well, but the realization that I was hurting those I cared about was always so sobering. The selfish prick. He obviously didn't care about anyone but himself.
88IDontBuyIt88 You Might not know the whole story... a lot of hype surrounding the band with Drugs and Drugs (alcohol) you have to keep in mind that dime was an addict as well... Did you read Rex's book?
Doug French I am sure phil was and maybe still is a selfish person but I think Down was/is a great fucking band, hardly any good bands carrying the black sabbath torch, even though I wasn't that in to the last 2 records..
Damn I forgot how beautiful they both were!! Sooo attractive before the drugs and booze took over. And Dimebag's hair flips and southern accent....ohhh he would've been allowed to have his way with me back in the day lol. The reporter," how can it get heavier?" Dimebag," No problem" Hahahahahahaha spoke like a true boss legend!
Shakira Brathwaite drugs, booze and food. Lol
Phil's brain hasn't took a shit yet, and DIME as allways is the coolest dude to live.... EVER
HA! 0:17 dime was like she call me diamond AGAIN?
2:34 HAHAHAH...
4:57 dime... 9:18
Interviewer questions 0, answers (and Dime reactions and interventions) 1000000000000...
Priceless. I miss ya' A LOT dude. Be at peace.
Phil is so good looking it makes me near gay. He was at hi prime here. Best voice. Dime, needs no comments, he was in his prime from the begining to his death.
I still get emotional watching old videos of Dimebag.
Great capture in time. Very happy to watch it. Always been envious of Dimes hair
Having a head tattoo back in '92 was F'n hardcore....I dont think people realize because now a days you'll see some 14 year old with tatts all over his face and not think twice about but back then tattoos were actually still considered rebellious rather than a fashion statement ..especially on your head lol
I love Pantera so much. RIP Dimebag!! \m/
its crazy to look back and realize that these guys were only in their 20's making this amazing music. and 20+ years later; its still heavier than most. RIP DIMEBAG FOREVER
This is the era I got into Pantera. There will never be another metal band like them.
hahaha time when mtv played music
The 90's were the shit 🤟
hahaa i love it dime checked her out as she was giving the introduction and he gave the wink to the camera haha! lol!
Dime was gorgeous
What a unique chemistry those two had... you can see in darrels eyes that phil is exactly saying what he is thinking.
Phils voice is in standard tuning here
Now its drop Z
Hard to believe Phill and Dime we’re so young. 24 years old and 25 respectively. About 31 years ago today. Their music stands the time. Sadly half the damn band are touring with them at the moment but they are paying tribute to Dime and Pauli. They are honorable and doing the right thing
Change speed to .5x speed for Phil anselmo experience
8:35 Dimebag: "I'm so sexy"
Jorge Chiosso 😂😂 he was streching
G D it’s a joke
vinnie needs to release all of dimes footage.. we need more pantera videos!!!!!..
Great interview! Thanks for uploading!
It's weird to see them so young and vibrant. I forgot that Phil was this charming at one point in his career.
Dimebag, what a cool dude.. RIP!
still cant believe hes gone.
What handsome was Dimebag
Dime looked so majestic lmfaooooo
I love his hair! Rest in peace Dimebag 🙏🏼
2:36 She's like 'Phil pulled his beard, I should do it too'
StickySoul, hey he didn’t mind.
phil was 24 there... and it's been 23 years since that interview... man im old
Phil's stage presence is insane I loved how he was always bringing people on stage and wasnt snobby.
It's crazy how different Phil's voice is now
