They nailed it with the actress playing Gladys.

the first time I saw her I thought Gladys actually resembled Consuelo and her meekness would probably mirror that of Consuelo's as well.

Gladys' story is going the way of Consuelo's 😮

I know, I had hoped they would be a love match in spite of her mother's machinations but alas, this spoiler suggests otherwise.

Wrong Vanderbilt pictured as Alva's hubby. She married William Kissam Vanderbilt..

  • @WinnieRobbie

Why do you show William Henry Vanderbilt as Alva's husband - he was her Father-in-law? (the one who doubled the Commodore's fortune to $200 million). Her husband was William Kissam Vanderbilt - shown with his daughter in the wedding photo of Consuelo.

I hope the Russell's don't divorce like their real life counterparts did :) (William and Alva Vanderbilt divorced after 20 years of marriage 1875-1895)- This is a great story based on a real time in American history, totally fascinating and the wardrobe is amazing!

Money, old or new doesn't make you better than everyone. Most of these people were assholes.

Right? It's even wilder when you consider that the rich people they looked down on weren't "good enough" because they earned it themselves, instead of just being born into it and sitting on their asses doing nothing. It's like Paris Hilton thinking she's better than Musk, Bezos, Gates, Steve Jobs, etc. LMFAO, so ass backwards, elitist assholes.

I would like to see Ms Chambarlain again. What happened to her? I was hoping that her son would come visit her, and then him and Marian meet and hit it off.

Good history lesson this video. It does make us think on what really happened.

Very good video. Although I have a question - Is it possible that Mr. Russell is a hybrid of Vanderbilt and Carnagie? Because the workers at the steel plant during the strike bear an awful resemblance to the actual facts (although in real life some workers were killed while Carnagie was in Scotland) and why isn't a Vanderbilt credited with the creation of the Met?

Hmmmm interesting. I actually thought he was a hybrid of Vanderbilt and Rockefeller. But I think your observation is more accurate lol

It was the wedding of Consuelo Vanderbilt that made Mrs. Astor come begging for an invite.

I've known about some of these people in American history but wasn't aware of so many of the characters being so significant to this amazing show!! Now im already feeling more sorry for Gladys 'Russel'... Oh and I hope Larry and Marian will be married eventually! ( It certainly looks like they have respect for each other and theres definitely some attraction between them...?!?! Thanks for the update with a good video...

Anderson cooper's family . Perfected bougie

    • @carlosconde5467
      @carlosconde5467 6 місяців тому +1

Poor Anderson is so far removed from original "Commodore" money that we can't call him a Vanderbilt. His mother Gloria made her own money.

@carlosconde5467 yeah his mom got nothing ,his ancestors squandered it all. It is interesting to see their influence on the show characters

That is not the right picture of Alva Vanderbilt's husband. You are initially showing his dad.

  • @patriciazoerner

Ok, your opening "real life" photo is of the Vanderbilt DAUGHTER but the actress from the show you decided to pair her with in the Russell family MOTHER. I gave your video a thumbs down for not knowing what the heck it is you're talking about.
