What a score on the chicken! Reptiles (and dogs and cats) have enzymes that can tolerate a bit of extra bacterial load that would make a human sick. I really love how you do enrichment for your animals, and keep their wild instincts alive. "Can anyone tie a knot?" Kenan, does Kate tie your shoelaces for you? 😂
@@KampKenan yes more enrichment. Maybe a better way to dangle food, something he can't eat. Or maybe a food item in a pvc tube where he has to stick is hands and snout in to get the prey item to rip it apart
Love the mental exercise of this feeding style for King Slinky! You always put the animals well being first including exercising those intelligent monitor minds and I'm here for it! Respect and Love from AZ.
Slinky’s facial expression lol 🤣🤣 he’s like really? Then hops on that seat and destroys the chicken 🤣🤣 love it! Slinky rules! Also so glad to see Buttercup too! 🐍🐍🦎🦎🦎 King and Queen of the Kamp 🎸
Slinky's like why is my meal being so difficult today?! 🤣 I think it shows just how much intelligence he has and trust in you he has that he didnt go more spastic while you were trying to tie up the chicken, and that he doesnt get more crazy when you are near him risking your fingers.
Very cool to see him getting the chance to work for his meal. Fantastic that all that chicken was donated and didn’t go to waste. How cool would it be to rig up a wire across the gator pond and have the gators jump for their food! Do it 🔥😎
Instead of string you should put a chain from the post to the corner of the enclosure then another chain running down the middle with a carabiner to hook the chicken onto a lot safer for slinks instead of the string keep doing your thing Kenan
Really enjoyed Slinkys feeding! Always loved watching the gators being fed chickens on a clothesline, five feet up and they'd have no problem jumping that distance. Tourists beware dangling hotdogs over the side of a foot bridge to gain the attention of alligators!!! Great video Kenan💖🐊
Kennan that was awesome. Monitors are such smart animals. When it was swinging he got up onto the bench. You could look right into his eyes and see how much thinking slinky was doing. Great video.
Hey kenab love your videos I’ve been watching for 3 years keep it up I love ur idea of having natural enclosures for your animals a lot of inspiration here
It was awesome getting to see Slinky rip into that whole chicken and just decimate it. It was also great to see Princess Buttercup again. She’s a gorgeous snake for sure. I would definitely consider putting in a hook on a chain so you’re able to hang meat more quickly when enriching Slinky. You won’t have to worry about him swallowing string that way or tying knots lol. It’s so cool that you got those chickens instead of them being thrown out. Less waste in the landfills and more food for your animals is a win-win in my book. Looking forward to the next video! ☺️💕
That was very cool! One of my fellow birder/wildlife photographers here captured a water monitor eating a wild piglet not long ago, it was so dope... got the whole thing down at once!
@@KampKenan definitely! I always miss the cool eating experiences, missed a water monitor eating a red earred slider the other day, by a few minutes, I was bummed to not witness it!
That was an interesting video. It's always great to see the Animals being fed and some enrichment is really good for them. He certainly seemed to be enjoying himself.
“Can anyone tie a knot?” LOL I really enjoyed this video. Enrichment for Slinky AND you, with trying to secure his dinner. Suggestion to make it this type of enrichment safer for you: secure a carabiner (or something similar) to the upper bars of Slinky’s enclosure and leave it there to be used for future feedings. Then, you can tie the chicken up while you’re away from the enclosure, with a carabiner (with a good high weight limit to stand up to his tugging!) at the other end of the rope. Walk in, clip the chicken to the stationary carabiner, and you’re all set! If you want to control height & swing, you could tie at the chicken end, but just loop through the carabiner, then stand well back with a long rope, and can play some tug of war with Slinky by way of the carabiner centre-point. You may want to think about investing in cotton or hemp rope, instead of the nylon one you used for this feeding. I’m guessing that a natural fibre would be safer for him, if he does eat some.
Apologies in advance for a non required advice, but it seems Lobo still needs consistency in training. Bless him, you, family and all your amazing animals 💚
@@KampKenan Thanks Kenan! Here's a video I did on it if you're interested. It's simple, but really helps get them to use different muscles than just eating stuff off the ground.ua-cam.com/video/iD2WEDXZmxo/v-deo.html
Slinky quarters a chicken better than I can with a chef’s knife!🔪😂 I think this is how he should be fed most of the time…that way he truly has to work for his food 🍽 …amazing enrichment for him!!! 🦎🐓
I love the idea of feeding slinky like this. It's so cool. I'd stay away from using a hook though last thing you wanna do is catch slinky like a fish by accident
With such a special enclosure, I couldn't help think of a washing line (the roll along type) with a run between posts (or door-post) that you could have Slinky chase down the bird/prey item right across his enclosure, at an appropriate height. If the fixings were moveable, you could alternate the flight path of the prey, affording him more enrichment as he actively hunts his food. To add to the development of this system, a sliding door (or one way flap (only let's things in, not out))on the outer fence would be the upgrade for you to not need to enter his environment & could roll prey straight in, through the trap door & along the line. He has a lot of trust in you whilst he is feeding, but a faster moving food item might elicit a more dramatic response with more danger of an accident/mis-hap. Such a system could also be employed with your alligators. Certainly a better method of attaching the food is required, so Slinks doesn't damage his teeth on the rope. Perhaps using a more natural piece of string, which has less tensile strength & is biodegradable, might be all that is necessary. Alternatively a suitable sized crocodile clip (like pegs on the line) Can't wait to see what you construct for the future. Ask if Jerry could help, as his woodwork skills are really amazing.
Hi Kenan. Was visiting Perth Zoo in Western Australia last week and got to see some Radiated Tortoises for the first time🥰 my husband got a big lecture on Kamp Kenan that day🤣🤣🤣🇦🇺
This video was cool! I would definitely fix some kind of rope/chain and meat hook situation up for Slinky! Just put chicken on hook and let it go! No string drama!
You should definitely sting up food again for Slinky, it seems like it's good enrichment for him You should also consider hiding food around his enclosure every now and again to make him "hunt" for his food. Also, have you tried seeing what kind of foods he likes best, by offering him several different things at once and see which items he goes for first?
Fantastic video as always Kennan. Really enjoyed it and i can see you did too. There was definitely a bit of an auld sport commentator in you towards the end 😂🤣👍

Yes, please. More videos like this. Whole prey, exercise and enrichment.
You got it!
Why not a live chicken occasionally
@@Jaquster because that risks injury to the animal he’s feeding and nobody wants to see a chicken suffer

Best Piñata Ever ! Thank you Jason Abels! Yes... enrichment makes all feel good !

Princess Buttercup got 2 quail and a whole chicken! wow, what a meal!
Try a full chicken on the ground. I’d like to see if/how they use their front limbs to assist us shredding the food.
