Mac and Sol are like 2 children listening to uGogo's stories at night. They are so in tune and interested in the story- its so cute! Sipho is a great story teller!
I could listen to Bab' Sithole for hours, his story telling is impeccable. He just took me back to a time where our country was vibrant and full of hope. Ngesi Xhosa ndinga mbiza igqirha le ngoma, meaning he heals through music. He is so powerful, God bless his soul. Thanks guys.
What a profound man. Can't believe I never heard about him till this episode. Another reason why the podcast should be celebrated for bringing South African gold to its own people. Your reaction to him writing Wethembisile by Unathi was not big enough. lol. One of the greatest songs of the 2000s decade. The fact that he composed those 4 songs from Zabalaz also is just crazy. A phenomenal man
Guys, is it just me or was this episode something else? It’s not obvious like the many other impactful/entertaining episodes but I feel different after watching this. I feel lighter, more at peace and I need to hear more from this elder. This was awesome and spiritual for me. Curious to see if anyone else feels the same because I can’t pin point why this interview is making me feel like this. Either way thank you God for these people❤
You are not the only one, I am so emotional. Bab'Sithole just took me back to a time when our country was so vibrant and full of hope. He reignited something in me, I just can't say what but he brought me joy and comfort. At some point I was hoping Mac would just let him speak without questioning and the camera rolls nje. I was going through the comments just to pick up if indeed I was the only person who felt a type of way, so powerful.
The feeling is mutual, this is the feeling I failed to get when I tried watching "Spreading Humor"(no intention to diss the 2Ks). This guy is a tank of Wisdom and a lot of chillers might sleep on him because he is not that well known (almost fell in the same trap).
Yes hle!! He didn't come to tell a sad story or anything like that but I'm so peaceful watching this. Like we just drank from a well of calm waters. Also his voice is sooop zen
Beautiful 😍 🤩 👌. It's like those sessions around the fire 🔥 and you can't see each others faces. All you can see is your own visuals in head guided by Umalome's voice
MacG has a great way of interviewing people and doesn’t not interrupt unnecessary which makes the conversation interesting for the viewer. You’re a G MacG👊🏾
This podcast its a medicine for black excellence the influence its God given i didnt even know Who the Guest was but now I know Geez Amapiano to the Universe 😂❤ I loved this podcast its so damn inspiring... Just imagine if you weren't born in South Africa😮😮😮?😮
This is definitely one of my favourite episodes, I enjoyed this episode so much. Yoh. Now Dr. Sithole must go sit with King David for 3 MORE HOURS please 🙏🏾😂
Dr. Sithole, A true gentleman. You get to his office, and the first thing he will ask you is "Are you ok brother? Can I offer you anything to drink? then the stories start flowing in...bless him!
Bab'Sithole has the sweetest, most dedicated wife. She has a podcast documenting their rural homstead. He appeared in one of the episodes when they were looking for his ancestral homstead and graves. It was emotional.
This interview feels like a warm blanket on a cold winter day🤗 so beautiful and nostalgic. Big up to the legend Bra Sipho, hope your grandkids and their grandkids will get to taste the fruits of your labor naphakade.🙌🏾❤️
I absolutely loved and thoroughly enjoyed this interview /conversation really. The history, the stories behind our amazing South African legends, legendary groups and timeless hits, are amazing to hear. I have a suggestion for McGyver, is it possible to have a legendary show on your network particularly for the older audience with our legendary artists sharing such stories with someone older curating the show much like what you've done with Spreading Humour A.K.A 'The Bantwizies'. This can be hosted by a seasoned broadcaster in the industry that is well known and respected to pull the older generation to your channel too. And because you already have the young ones subscribed, this could also be a great way to educate and inform them. This means we are preserve our history, telling it ourselves and celebrating more of our living legends. Just a suggestion, otherwise, a job well done with this channel!!!
This is taking me back when Zuluboy was rapping his lungs out for Native Rythms in 2006..... to date his debut Album Masihambisane Da 1st Hip Hop Lesson is pure gold. Futures a lot in my playlist. Dr Sipho Sithole is a pioneer indeed.
Honestly when this episode started I was like "whats this now"? Then it went from that to " I hope it continues at least to 2 and a half hours"...... REALLY ENJOYED IT, Dr Sithole is wow man
I have always tried to find out about bab Sithole forever and not much is written about him online.. I was a huge fan of Native Rythms and I liked how he selected artists who had an African sound all the time
All i can say is that it was good to hear him talk of a time when black people were reserved. None of this boyfriend stuff in primary school. He looks very young too. Well done to him.
When he talked about 1808, Splash Jam, Black Sunday and Slaghuis, I knew he knows where South African Hip Hop came from, so many big artists came from there. This interview has so much insight and very useful to those who are looking into venturing into music. Thanks for the knowledge Bab’ Sipho Sithole.
Khanyo Maphumulo is the vocal lady in Sarafina that leads Freedom Is Coming. She also sang with the Shabalala Rhythm on the song 'Kanti Wena Wenzani". She is magic vocally.
The memories of 90’s and early 2000’s just came flooding in as Dr Sithole spoke. He literally dropped the soundtrack of my childhood into young adulthood. Thank you for your contribution in my life through music. Keep sharing the knowledge, wisdom and kindness. This was somewhat of a master class.❤
As a person from umlazi all these stories he’s talking about gives me goosebumps cause I know what he’s talking about and I’ve seen people doing what he’s talking about which is being a garden boy in Chatsworth
Please! This entire interview gave me goosebumps. I could listen to this man all day. His voice is so soothing. The level of intelligence, wisdom and humour. wow! What a gift.
Thanks gents for documenting our South African history, this will live on forever. Couldn't help but smile while reminiscing on the stories beautifully told by Dr Sithole. I subscribe to this!
