Not gonna lie I tried to do something similar with Fiesta Texas last week. Was supposed to fly from Philly to San Antonio through Nashville but weather delays led me to fly from Baltimore to Austin…I didn’t make it in time but I got some pretty sunset photos. And I ran the half marathon the next day and well my sister refuses ride coasters the same day of a marathon…she thinks it would be too painful.
Twisted Colossus is a microcosm of the whole park: Ambitious, potentially great if everything works correctly, yet the operations are bare bones at best, so it rarely reaches it's full potential and often hardly works at all
As someone who magic mountain was my home park for many years until the pandemic it's shocking to see how bad things have gotten there. MM never had great ops especially when they opened 365 days but they were actually pretty consistent with keeping rides open. usually a ride would be only closed for planned maintenance and not randomly close during the day. At worst MM would have maybe 2 or 3 coasters closed on a given day so having 7 or 8 closed is embarrassing and I can't believe they run like that now.
there’s nothing more frustrating than waiting in hours of LA traffic to get to SFMM only to find a huge number of rides closed and massive crowds who overwhelm the few rides that are open. It’s absolutely pathetic. Magic Mountain doesn’t deserve credit for 20 coasters. From my recent experience as a local, they only run 15 AT MOST. Something needs to change at six flags. Preferably get rid of the fraud at the top. Magic mountain is a shell of its former self. I feel like I’m in a toxic relationship with this park right now. I absolutely love their rides but everything else about it makes me miserable. But those damn good rides keep bringing me back.
I do agree it is frustrating, but on an off-season Friday and closing at 6pm, there is the challenge of staffing to consider as well. Plus, with it being a year-round park, some of the coasters need to be down for annual/2x-a-year maintenance. Still, no excuse for so many rides being down on a Saturday.
Planning trips to Great Adventure and Hershey for June. I'm really hoping this doesn't happen but with how Six Flags is running it will be an unfortunate possibility.☹ I did go to Six Flags New England on a Thursday in August and most all of the major rides were opened but 3 of the best slides in the water park were closed. I miss the days when staffing wasn't an issue.🙁
As a pass holder since last September who has been about 15 times, I’m shocked at the consistent amount of ride closures. It’s truly out of hand at this point. Having said that, the large majority of my rides on Twisted Collossus were duels. Apocalypse desperately needs another retracking for sure. Last week I rode the inside seat on X2 and for the first time in ages, it was totally smooth. My seat mate however got banged around. Anyhow, I hope Six Flags are paying attention to your video and comments. They need to up their game.
i think West Coast Racers capacity would be better if they actually unloaded people in the first half of the station which i’m pretty sure was supposed to be an “unloading platform” so ppl can get off while the train in front of them is dispatching. but that would require more staff 😞
Such a great park and incredible lineup. Stinks to see things closed and less than stellar operations, but hopefully on regular days it’s better and the park keeps working on improving those things in the future. It has potential to be AMAZING. Thanks for sharing your quick and honest experience!
I used to work on twisted colossus so here’s an explanation: the program speeds up the lifts to purposely “missalign” the dueling a little bit. One side will always fall first, and the operators don’t have control over it. I think this is meant to counteract the fact that they catch up later in the “lap”
The tweens you mentioned in the video was actually my twin and my friend. They where very bored and decided a good way to pass time was to play rock paper scissors and whoever loses gets slapped. I did see you in line which was a shock to me but decided not to go over. Also it’s a bummer that the second we where going to get on the ride broke down. I’m a big fan of your videos.
It's weird to see a park with so many rides down. I'm from the UK and been to Thorpe Park / Alton Towers on rainy days, and if they had to close rides for the weather they usually give out free entry passes to come back another day. Also got ejected from the queue for Stealth once and they handed out free one shot fast passes for other rides.
Full Throttle is the perfect last ride because it jolts you awake before you spend two hours driving in traffic going home. Full Swaddle is such a perfect nickname for it 😂
You guys absolutely ROCK for plugging a East Coast Racers for my homepark Great Adventure!!! Actually back when Six Flags used to send us surveys by email years ago on suggestions for the park, one of the segments was devoted to how we would like a dueling launch coaster specifically at Great Adventure. I've not received a survey from them for YEARS now but I hope they still have that launch coaster idea in their bag of tricks. Maybe for the 50th anniversary 2024(???) 🤞🤞🤞Great Adventure really needs to work on expanding a more complete collection of rides.
Magic Mountain really went downhill post-Covid. I remember going on trips there in 2018/2019 and having the time of my life running from coaster to coaster on a quiet weekday and usually only one or two major coasters would be down. Now the park doesn't even run on most weekdays, and up to half of the major coasters are closed on any given day. Not to mention the atrocious operations at the park itself. It's too bad because Magic Mountain when run correctly is one of the best parks in the country and heaven on earth for a coaster-lover. It used to be a world-class destination. Hope they can turn it around soon and get it running back up to its potential.
My friends were on the train that got stuck at the top of the lift hill! And we were on the last train that ran the full circuit! That day at six flags was abysmal...long lines and ride closures galore. Thankfully it's my home park so I can go at will, but they really need to step their game up before summer season arrives. One park employee even said to our group that they have too many rides and not nearly enough mechanics. :(
Wow oh my goodness I'm am so sorry that you guys and the rest of the other people got stuck on the ride shout out to six flags staff for help you guys out and for those other people wow 😳 take care.
I'm cracking up thinking Six Flags staff heard Coaster Studios say they are coming back the next day so they had maintenance work all night trying to get Twisted Collosus dueling. Then maintenance was so worn out from the all nighter they let all the other rides break down!
I didn’t realize how unreliable Twisted Colossus was! The hybrid closest to me, Twisted Timbers has never broken down that much in two days! Great vlog though!
I got an evac off Aquaman at Six Flags over Texas on Saturday. It was after we completed the ride, and it was one of many laps that day. The staff did a great job with our evac as well, and we were given 1-time use flash pass cards. The ride reopened later.
Scream has been an extremely problematic ride as of late. When u guys went in October it was down due to it’s lift motor going kaboom, they actually fixed that and had it running again around Christmastime. It was only running 1 train though and had managed to become more unreliable than most other rides there. Anyways it’s gone down completely again within the last few weeks. When they are at the point of having the B&M floorless being extremely unreliable that should be pretty clear to everyone that the place is falling apart. Riddler’s Revenge hasn’t opened at all since September, that one has a crack in its track and they have been working on it but it’s still down. I’ll give them this though, they got X2 back up after its lift motor also went bad, and they got Full Throttle through a refurbishment and back up albeit with one train as one of the two is still in the shop for refurbishment. They supposedly bought a third train for Full Throttle though and that will be an improvement, rare six flags W in that regard.
Magic Mountain has gone so far down recently. I flew across the country in November to visit it again and the same rides were closed, operations just horrible, park was dirty. Management there really needs to realize how much potential this place has, and that they are not doing their best.
I live an hour away from magic mountain, this is exactly why I go once, maybe twice a year. The operations in general and maintenance schedules are the worst I’ve ever seen. It makes the ghostrider line seem absolutely reasonable.
Go Sarah! Go Sarah! She triumphed over X2. Woot! That Tatsu single rider line tip is gold, dang. That's a very handsome man in line at 13:50 standing behind Taylor! (That's my husband, ya'll....😊👍)
20:41 when he was talking about how they would not let you do wonder woman with the skip the line pass, it's the same for maxxforce at great america which is dumb becuase the ride is like 4 years old now.
“Almost amazing” is the perfect description for SFMM. We got a bunch of cool coasters but no true top tier with good forces. TC and WW are close thank god but you heard what Taylor said. SteVe, IG, Mako, Fury 325, Velocicoaster, etc. are just good thrilling rides. Height, speed, airtime. That’s all we need SFMM. One or all three. You’re a great park but you need something legendary now.
@@hellacia8151 X2 is a spectacle imo. It’s a great ride but it’s not beating any top tier coaster in America. And that’s the case for most of their rides. Goliath is there taking up the Hyper Coaster spot, and Superman is taking up the Strata coaster spot. Both are big for nothing. If they ever build a giga it’ll probably be a shuttle coaster😂. They never go balls to the wall and build something epic.
Just love an evac only managed it once on Expedition Everest just before the train goes backwards. Was quite cool going down the inside of the mountain and then walking the last bit of track back to the unload area. The cast members were very strict on filming though and cel phones had to be put away. Great experience though.
I have had three similar experiences on roller coasters where we get stuck. My first one was on Steel Force at dorney. We were going up the lift hill and right at the crest the ride got stuck for like 10 seconds then it went. Then at the brake run we got stuck for 30 mins and it didn’t help that it was 93 degrees outside and it was burning in the black carts. But what makes me angry was after we got out they didn’t give us any compensation. Because this was during summer camp and it was just me and my friends and we were supposed to go on steel force then meet back and leave so we got scared. Then a few years later I went for Jersey Devil season pass holder opening day. Which was the first day for the ride. And we rode it three times and on the last ride we did we got stuck on the brake run and after like 20 mins we got evaced and they gave us no compensation which again pissed us off. Then an HOUR LATER we ride el toro and about 3/4 up the lift hill we got stuck and thankfully they got the ride to go without evacuating us but again no compensation so what’s it with the east coast and not giving us compensation for being stuck on rides 😢
Dang first an evacuation at Super Nintendo world and now a ton of closed rides at six flags magic mountain. Knotts Berry farm just sitting back eating popcorn
Six flags needs to get there act together. Having this many closed rides is a HORRIBLE look for the park. We all paid and expect you to have at least most of your rides open, if half of them are closed, EXTREMELY disappointing
I wish I could have gotten evacced off of TwiCol, y'all are lucky!!! Sorry you didn't get a duel. I was there in January (3 train ops on TwiCol) and I got last ride of the night, in the rain, with a duel. (The other train was empty and it was pitch black, but that ride alone made it my #1!) Great vlog as always!
I got a magic mountain pass back in January, and the two times that I've been to the park I've mainly gottens duels on TC. It's definitely running better. Last time I went tho everything was closed. It took like 5 hours for X2 to open, and the only rides open for most of the day were WCR and Apocalypse.
Just went this past Mon and Wed. Had some awesome rides. Coasters seem to be just flying. Went on x2, viper, Tatsu❤, Revolution, Roaring Rapids, Twisted C. Drop of doom, scream, Superman, Batman, Riddler❤, WonderWoman, Jet stream, WCR. Lots of traing going on in the park. Seeing alot of electrical for the solar panels throughout the park. Oh Roaring Rapids❤❤. Waterfall going, last 3 rapids are roaring. Was drenched.
I’ doing a trip through California amusement parks in may. A west coast trip. Six flags great America and six flags over Georgia have been my previous home parks. Great America is awesome in my opinion! Especially the drive up view
Hello to the coster studios friends you guys are so cool and awesome 👍 i really enjoyed all of your awesome videos and your vlogs it so much fun to watch. And i also love the food that they have at some of the theme parks but it so expensive geeze 😬 but the food is so good though i love to eat haha 🤣 but anyways i hope that you guys are having fun and staying safe out there take care 👍 love you guys ♥️♥️♥️.
I was finally able to get to Magic Mountain last year in August. Both Viper and Ninja were closed all day, two classic Arrows that likely won't be around much longer. Apocalypse was closed for seasonal maintenance. Due to living on the east coast I doubt I'll be able to get back out there any time soon. I was able to get a half dual on TC during the first lap which was cool. X2 lived up to the hype and SCREAM was jackhammering HARD, so not missing much Sarah.
@@LChinezesince I only had 1 day I paid for a fast pass. Got to ride everything except Apocalypse, Ninja and Viper so i thought it was worth it. Front row X2 first drop is insane and was able to get a half duel on TC
It's unfortunate about the dueling situation! To get a duel, you'd have to get there as soon as the gates open. There's less people to load and unload so the departure times are pretty fast.
I went 1/3/25 and 3 rides were closed being Superman Goliath and apocalypse we used flash pass and still had to wait a long time. Twisted colossus was down almost the whole day but we got to go last ride before it closed
Two things to remember: 1) wear your sunscreen, kids; and 2) never say “Omg we’re gonna get a duel!” when it comes to Twisted Colossus, because you will jinx it
to be fair when colossus opened in 78 I was there that year before the re-profile , it rarely dueled. I remember 1 drizzly day I got 40 rides and had 0 duels
My Six Flags home park! Hah Taylors face after the sun burnt butt. Love In-n-Out Burgers. Twisted Colossus is so frustrating, I'm not sure why they dont program the lifthills to align a duel with variable speeds. They get so close sometimes but then just fail. X2 is so good that you don't actually realise it's good until you've marathoned it. At first I also didn't get the hype, but it just gets better the more you ride it. That single rider line on Tatsu feels like cheating, but it's a great hack.
Seems a bit similar to my Christmas Eve trip. Full Throttle and Goliath were closed (and more but I cannot remember which other ones) but I ran into Airtime Thrills while I was there so that totally made up for it
Was the turbulence bad as in the stomach drop feelings were uncountable or it was to long or what? Did it at least give you decent airtime? I wouldn't be complaining for that considering half the rides at the park were closed.
I’m going to magic mountain next week. I just hope Superman is running the backwards train. Because going forwards ain’t that good imo.and I still expected Goliath to be closed. It was closed since last September when I went
i went to six flags and rode twisted colossus about 5 times and 4 of those rides were complete double duals and the other was 1 duel and the other was solo
Just had a friend visit the park and he was so hyped hearing about it being THE reigning coaster capital…and ELEVEN of the roller coasters and Justice League were all down on his visit. He was super disappointed. Six Flags needs to do better.
I am sad to see the park with such bad operations. This happened several times last year on trips and big reason why for the first time in many many years my family did not purchase season passes. I will not spend money there until I see things better ran. Which sucks because I love this park and been going for over 30 years.
I have a friend who just recently went for the 2nd time abd he did not have a good experience with half the rides being closed. Also, he was going to go another day but it sprinkled rain for literally just a couple of minutes and they decided to close the entire park for the rest of the day.
@@CoasterStudios oh never mind then i assumed since u guys take so long to edit it would be from a couple months ago that’s when i went but last weekend nah
Being from outside the US I really can’t afford to go to MM and have half the rides closed. Is there like a better time of year to go when the lines are not insane and most rides have a decent chance to be running? Or is it just not wise to go there for a while?

Hello to the coster studios friends you guys are so cool and awesome 👍 i really enjoyed all of your awesome videos and your vlogs it so much fun to watch. And i also love the food that they have at some of the theme parks but it so expensive geeze 😬 but the food is so good though i love to eat haha 🤣 but anyways i hope that you guys are having fun and staying safe out there take care 👍 love you guys ♥️♥️♥️.
Omg an icon @ 3:48
the person at 3:51 waving is so funny
I was finally able to get to Magic Mountain last year in August. Both Viper and Ninja were closed all day, two classic Arrows that likely won't be around much longer. Apocalypse was closed for seasonal maintenance. Due to living on the east coast I doubt I'll be able to get back out there any time soon. I was able to get a half dual on TC during the first lap which was cool. X2 lived up to the hype and SCREAM was jackhammering HARD, so not missing much Sarah.
I hope you were able to at least ride Tatsu, X2, and a dueling Twisted Colossus. We learned anytime we go to Magic Mountain, we need 2 full days.
@@LChinezesince I only had 1 day I paid for a fast pass. Got to ride everything except Apocalypse, Ninja and Viper so i thought it was worth it. Front row X2 first drop is insane and was able to get a half duel on TC
Omg the lady waving in the background😂😂😂
It's unfortunate about the dueling situation! To get a duel, you'd have to get there as soon as the gates open. There's less people to load and unload so the departure times are pretty fast.
Headed there for the first time in July. Hoping most of the coasters are running 😂
You are so right. TC is not a great coaster at all when you don't duel. But when you do duel, it is one of the best in the park.
It’s still an RMC tho, no matter the condition any RMC is great
WTF are you talking about it's elite even when it doesn't duel. Every element either gives great airtime or great laterals.
@@andyroman8223finally someone else thinks the same. By far California’s best ride even without dueling
Ugh…sorry about your pain but I must say the sunburnt look really works for both of you!
Nice shoutout to in n out.
“Oh honey, that’s age! That’s age right there.”
I remember 1 drizzly day I got 40 rides and had 0 duels
were you able to see the murray bridge bunyip when you were in australia?
My Six Flags home park! Hah Taylors face after the sun burnt butt. Love In-n-Out Burgers. Twisted Colossus is so frustrating, I'm not sure why they dont program the lifthills to align a duel with variable speeds. They get so close sometimes but then just fail. X2 is so good that you don't actually realise it's good until you've marathoned it. At first I also didn't get the hype, but it just gets better the more you ride it. That single rider line on Tatsu feels like cheating, but it's a great hack.
Can you do a Viper review?
In regards of turbulence, was it shaky-er than the roughest coaster you've been on?
P.S. I'm glad you guys are okay!
Twisted Colossus was a great ride but there's no neck support on those trains. I got a slight whiplash coming off that ride
We're going here for my senior night since my school is banned from Disneyland
I have questions
I think we where in the same day at MM ! And I was seriously looking for vlogers and enthusiast’s 😂
i wanna go to magic mountain with y’all so much😭
Seems a bit similar to my Christmas Eve trip. Full Throttle and Goliath were closed (and more but I cannot remember which other ones) but I ran into Airtime Thrills while I was there so that totally made up for it
You vs TC was me and Alex vs X2 today. An hr wait and I still haven't gotten it
Was the turbulence bad as in the stomach drop feelings were uncountable or it was to long or what? Did it at least give you decent airtime? I wouldn't be complaining for that considering half the rides at the park were closed.
12:25 Wow... Even Batman's closed!
I’m going to magic mountain next week. I just hope Superman is running the backwards train. Because going forwards ain’t that good imo.and I still expected Goliath to be closed. It was closed since last September when I went
I hare to rain on your parade but no way the backwards side runs. The backwards train is out for refurbishment
I'm sunburnt right now... badly. I am not visiting Magic Mtn. because it is July, and I live in Cali so it's not far.
i went to six flags and rode twisted colossus about 5 times and 4 of those rides were complete double duals and the other was 1 duel and the other was solo
Are you guys going down to over texas to ride aquaman? Also they should change the name to Half Throttle instead of Full Throttle lol
As someone who lives close to magic mountain, people usually just call it six flags. Personally I just call it magic mountain
So I’m going for the first time next week and I’m wondering if I’m gonna do a night ride, what should it be?
Can we have back the video of kolmarden at the end instead of port aventura.
I have a friend who just recently went for the 2nd time abd he did not have a good experience with half the rides being closed. Also, he was going to go another day but it sprinkled rain for literally just a couple of minutes and they decided to close the entire park for the rest of the day.
when was this fillmed? this seems like around the same time that I went an It would be interesting to find out we went on the same day!
This past weekend
@@CoasterStudios oh never mind then i assumed since u guys take so long to edit it would be from a couple months ago that’s when i went but last weekend nah
Being from outside the US I really can’t afford to go to MM and have half the rides closed. Is there like a better time of year to go when the lines are not insane and most rides have a decent chance to be running? Or is it just not wise to go there for a while?
Magic Mountain always has a bunch of their rides closed during off peak season, so just go during a summer weekday and get a flash pass.
Were you guys there before or after Southern California got pummeled with snow?
after
When you are sun burned the cold really feels cold.
I’m going there tomorrow! (wildly excited, first time visit AND 100th coaster cred) Any last minute tips anyone?👉👈
Sarah...Full Swaddle!!!
Hey I am going on the 22nd can I see what rides are open via a website?
