I have a 2008 VW Rabbit/Golf and it says on the owner's manual to change it every 2 years which is what I've been doing. I doubt they changed that recommendation for newer Golfs.
🤣 I haven't changed my brake fluid in over 100K miles.. No issues. My toyota hybrid runs so well. Love this car
2009 Lexus ES350 88,000 miles ... never changed brake fluid ... fluid still light yellow ... no issues.

Earliest I'd consider it is 3-4 yrs or 50k+ miles
Dealership tried to tell me to change the brake fluid after 15k miles
2 years 20,000 is not necessary
2 years is spot on if you check with a fluid tester it will tell you exactly the % of water in the fluid
