Yep, this is good stuff. We learned this in the Army long before they had combatives. Nothing wrong with combatives I'm just saying that this came first and works well.
People obsess about the Fairbairn open hand stuff but if they bother to read the actual SOE syllabus that’ll find it specifically included boxing blows anyway…
Thank you Sir dispensing your combat wisdom! I your syllabus on Sykes foul boxing techniques. I would greatly influenced by early English pugulism. Once again thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge. I thoroughly enjoyed your video lecture on the subject.
Hi mate, there’s a few one page Sykes’ syllabus knocking around (as well as some disparaging remarks on amount of Fairbairn’s curriculum) I’ll get a link and add to notes
@@TommyMooreww2combatives Thanks! I find that, too. Would you hit with the top 2 knuckles then? I find that the bottom 3 knuckles land with a vertical fist unless I tilt my wrist forward, and then I'm able to hit with the top 2 knuckles. Is that what you do?
What I find interesting is uneducated diehard ww2 combatives fans will say never punch and especially when they replace it with the tiger claw. There is a tiny amount about the tiger claw in an instructional from Fairbairn but loads of different war time manual teach punching in them. Arwrology, do or die, American combat Judo etc and later on cold steel. Boxing blows mixed with atemi waza and old style savate is 99% of ww2 combatives striking arsenal.
Nancy Wake, the white mouse of the SOE, was documented for having the only proven unarmed kill in WWII . She said in interviews that she never trained with Fairbairn but rather trained with Eric Sykes and he taught her to kick the Nazi in the three piece then chop them in the neck with the edge of hand, if forces to fight unarmed, which is how she killed a Nazi officer during a raid. She wasn't taught bare knuckle boxing by Sykes while serving in the SOE. There's also no recorded documents of BKB taught to the SOE.
You're wrong on the boxing, read the SOE training notes attributed to Sykes (1943) which covers the principal boxing blows and where to place them and. as an aside contains a list of what they do differently to some of the previous fairbairn methods (such as variations of the rear naked choke to more akin to a bulldog choke from catch). You'll also see boxing methods play out in the training film for the Royal Navy which showcases some the boxing methods shown alongside the Fairbairn methodology
You can see it used here: ua-cam.com/video/LQ1HN6f_lJs/v-deo.htmlsi=DRy0EEklL4oehAtY You'll also see it here in the 1943 Syllabus for SOE: www.scribd.com/doc/241991031/SOE-1943-syllabus-pdf But available in better detail in the book 'How to become a spy: ww2 SOE training' which has the notes and teaching points in better detail 👍

Interesting about the vertical punch. Very similar to Jack Dempseys 'powerline' punching method he talks about that made its way into JKD
Thank you Tommy for the E A Sykes info. I wondered about his contributions.
Great video, thankyou for sharing and inspiring us all to train hard and smart, looking forward to my dvd turning up of your recent training weekend

Great Vid bro, Sykes never gets enough credit for what he put into the system!
Bought "The Shanghai School of Streetfighting," as a companion to your bartitsu book. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Awesome hope you enjoy it!

I know you mentioned Target Focus Training, ever thought of doing a video on how to blend TFT with your Combatives , Bartitsu, and etc?
Have you ever looked at the swifle punch shown by Carl cestari?
Cool jacket mate
Excellent stuff as usual. Did Sykes himself release any books with this info? If not I’m curious how you came across it. Thank you👍

@@TommyMooreww2combatives did you get a link and add to notes already? Didn't see anything.
Who was the wrestler that also trained with Fairbairn and Sykes?
That para smock is as smart as the boxing!
Awesome ,another great video Tommy
Thank you Mr Moore!
Which knuckles do you use for striking? Does it depend on the angle of the target?
Bigger the better buddy, vertical is often safer ❤️🤙 but must be comfortable for you too!

Hi Tommy.....will you be conducting a Sykes seminar in the near future, another very informative video, thanks for posting.
Hey mate, to be fair it’d be very short. It’s essentially chin jab, EOH blow, low line kicks, Japanese strangle. There’s not much to it!
@@TommyMooreww2combatives Hi Tommy......ok thank you.....
@@TommyMooreww2combatives I will hopefully attend your future courses Tommy.....
It should be noted that these moves can easily kill a man.
Hi Tommy ,what is the name of Sykes book?
There’s no book mate, just a few worksheets on what he includes. I’ll add in link
@@TommyMooreww2combatives Cheers Tommy appreciate it.
Good
