I don’t think so. I thought the bass speed was woolly and slow relative to the totem bison tower I tried. You’ve got to spend more to get the fab bass speed PMC are known for. Cheers Simon
I watched you easily move the PCM Prodigy 1 and was curious regarding their weight (thereby the rigidity of the speaker cabinet and the resonance frequency control). The PCM specification states 4.5kg. By comparison the entry level ATC speaker SCM7 is specified with a weight of 7.5kg. The Prodigy 1 is £1250 and the SCM7 is £1100. So, the speakers are in a similar price category. I guess the design key requirement is how the speakers sound and this is a subjective assessment.
@@SteveD-m6z weight isn’t that important I suppose. PMC has quasi transmission line so the cab is fairly well braced. I prefer the little ATC’s, they need a bit of power to sing though.
Thank you for this review. There are too much difference in the bass line or low frequences between this two speakers? I mean, can the Prodigy 5 work fine in a small room or maybe have too much bass and would be a problem? Regards!
I run an all Rega system which includes a new Elex mk4 and a REL TX9 sub. I`ve had and really liked the Rega R5`s. I decided to upgrade to a Totem Tribe Tower and ended up selling them because they gave me listener fatigue. I never experienced that with my R5`s. Now I am looking at possibly getting a pair of PMC Twenty 23 speakers but I am concerned about them being too bright. What do you think? Thanks for posting.
These appear to be good value, what other floor standing speakers should be considered at the £2K price point. I have Rega RX3 speakers at present and looking to upgrade.
@@dittonworks thank you, i am looking for a full range speaker to replace my RX3’s, At £2K there’s a lot of choice, any that you have heard that should also be considered at this price point?
Hi, I am a fan of your videos and a follower of them.. In one of the videos, a speaker was shown (avi bigga_tron). Is the speaker available for sale, please?
They are not fatiguing but I thought the midrange is a little thin compared to totems bison tower. Also the treble is ok but it can bite you on some recordings when it is very bright. But I’ve owned a few pairs of pmc’s and have reviewed two of the newer 25i range speakers and the speed of the bass and transient dynamics is quite a bit off the pmc sound. So much so I’d buy the totems. You need to spend more to get the really super fast pmc bass speed and transient dynamics ie the 25-23i.
It would sound exactly like you iPad :-)……I managed to test them in the south of france and exceptional for the price. I’m going for the bookshelf version to replace my vintage PMC TB1……and these are going in my office
Superb bass speed amd resolution. PMC absolutely cracked transmission line with their current speaker range.

Hi, awesome review and to the point! What would you choose given the choice between the PMC Prodigy 1 and Dynaudio Emit 20 and why?
I would buy the Evoke 10 at this price point.

Best bet is book a demo but the prodigy series didn’t seem overly bright with Rega

Sorry they were sold a long time ago
@dittonworks
Thank you sir
They say they are very revealing. Does that mean they are fatiguing? Raised treble perhaps?

Doesn't sound like you think Naim electronics would make a good pairing.
Unfortunately, without music examples, none of this is of any use.
Great 👍 thanks for watching
