Nachtkrapp is German, as is Erlkönig, so they are familiar to those familiar with German folklore. Some creatures are probably newish (Mossmaidens), but most are taken from Germany as the setting is German too. I had heard of Perchta and Hulda (Frau Holle) before. It is still cool that she took figures the English speaking world is less familiar with.
I just finished the Duology. This past week I've almost constantly had the audiobooks going on in the background and I've been entirely absorbed. I typically am the type to be fully absorbed into whatever book I'm reading but there was something about this series that gripped at me even more than usual. There were so many parts that truly had me crying. So much emotion. Also, yeah. Gild is kinda... Perfect. But now what do I do with myself??
I love Heartless! It's been a while since I've read it so I don't know if I can fully review it without rereading it, but I really enjoyed it :) that ending!! I cried so hard!! I actually recommend that book to a lot of people, I made my mom read it after I was finished with it lol :)
