Thank you! I have some other pics of Irises that I want to paint which have got some amazing blues and purples on them :D I just have to find the time!
i love how u describing what u r doing, and accentuating important words like "white", "dark", "bleeding" and so on. i found that among many watercolor tutorials on youtube i watched, yours easier to follow and understand. thank you ^_^
Thank you so much for the feedback! I think this video is the most popular out of all the ones I do, so I should re-watch it in order to stay familiar with what makes a clear and successful tutorial!
I paint with traditional watercolors... tubes. I had a small set of these and didn't know how to use them until I watched your video. I tried it and was amazed. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so happy you got to use them AND are happy with the results too!! I've done a few paintings with watercolour markers so you might want to check out some others on my channel too :D Thanks so much for the feedback!!
I'm kind of in love with the way you say "petal" and how helpful your videos are. Your peony painting is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. You make so much sense when you show us how to be great like you are. Thank you darling.
Thank you so much for those kind words :) I think the peony is definitely one of my own favourites!! I'm planning more flower paintings for the rest of the year; different flowers, angles and hopefully different colours! Is there anything in particular you'd like to see a tutorial on painting? :D
gee massam Art You are so very welcome! I love gerbera daisies, asiatic irises, and black calla liles. I'm going to try and recreate your peony for my surgeon who is operating on me next month. He and his wife have a garden full of peonies and you can't imagine how elated I was to find your video for inspiration. Thank you for not being a watercolourist who just speeds up the video without explanation of their technique. I appreciate all of your videos and your amazing paintings. Please keep making these beautiful and informative videos! Xx
Thank you :) i will have a look for some of the flowers you describe as I'm always on the hunt for something different that I haven't painted before! I'll keep trying to strike a balance between real-time and speeded-up in my watercolour pictures :D Good luck with the Peony painting, I hope it all goes well for you!
Thank you so much!! This has proved to be the template for most of the watercolour flower vids I do these days, trying to show the process as clearly and in real-time as possible - thanks for the vote of confidence :D
Really great tutorial. You have a gift for explaining everything a learner needs to know, so we're not left with a dozen questions. I'll definitely have a go at this.
+LilyLaPeche Thanks for the comment - its good to get some feedback on my tutorials so I know if I'm doing the right thing... or not :D More watercolour flowers on the way...
No problem!! You might want to check out some of the other videos I've done using them, especially the 'watercolour markers for beginners' one :D Thank you for watching and the feedback!!
Thank you! My idea is to try and include as much as I can but keep it under 15m if possible!! :D I should be able to post a watercolour once a month, along with Pigment markers, markers and surprises...! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
purple tulip with watercolor markers...color blending makes the flower very real and natural looking. enjoyed tutorial. First with watercolor markers. Thinking about trying this. Explicite
+Tatyana Golyanich Thank you for the feedback - I sometimes wonder if these tutorials are too long so it's good to know you found that extra detail helpful! :D
Thanks for the feedback - when I'm editing and chopping out lots of footage, I'm always worrying I've cut too much in order to shorten the running time!!
As artists, we all second-guess ourselves but you're doing a fine job. More demos when you can but I know that video editing is a time-consuming process. And that's time taken away from creating!
You are so right there - editing is time-consuming!! But I actually enjoy it, like a puzzle; what can I leave in? what do I cut? how do I transition from this scene to the next etc. I think next up is a 'first go!' with W&N watercolour sticks, to see what they are like and I took a photo of some pink poppies the other day and thought maybe Pigment Markers...? Too many ideas, so little time... :D Thanks for the comments :)
That was a great demonstration. Few months back I got the Winsor & Newton watercolour markers, but haven't figured out how to used them properly yet. I will definitely try this now.
+Alexandra-Emily No problem, glad it was useful and here is a link to my latest video on watercolour markers, talking about the brushes, paper and techniques I use: ua-cam.com/video/iDbo6vXRfXo/v-deo.html&lc=z12ru30q2w2mgbilz230vnjbtqfyz1cyt04 Thanks for watching!
Hi, thank you!! I'm glad it was useful to you :D each of the watercolour marker videos features a few things I hadn't tried before as well as ground already covered, plus sometimes a few mistakes and how I solved them... :)
Thank you and I already have; I have a playlist called 'Watercolour Markers & Aquamarker paintings' on my channel, its got over 30 videos on it and many of them have a tutorial commentary or narration on them! Glad you liked it and found it helpful :D
Thank you!! If you find the Aquamarkers hard to find, then the Winsor & Newton ones are just as good (in fact the brush tip on the W&N ones gives them the edge IMHO). I hope this reply doesn't reach you too late... :)
Thank you! It is time-consuming but testing out the colours and combos to get a good purple was one of the fun parts of the whole thing! And then you compare it to the photo at the end and its quite different :D but hopefully it still works... Thanks for watching!
No problem! :D I'm pleased you found it useful and thanks for the feedback. There are more examples on my channel, in the watercolour marker playlist, if you are interested in seeing some more :D
+Angela Girdlestone Cool! I am glad you have been inspired to give watercolour markers a go :) Just remember to use lots of water on good thick watercolour paper, as explained in my 'beginners' video: ua-cam.com/video/iDbo6vXRfXo/v-deo.html :D
Love this video! I had to get myself the aquamarkers so that I could try them out for myself! I got one set in so far, now just waiting for the others to come in!!! Can't wait to give these a go through and see what I can do with them! Keep the videos coming!!!
+William Hetrick No problems and i'm so glad it's helpful to you. I loved the purple colours I was able to mix with the Aquamarkers,; it was far more colourful than my reference photo :D
I've been watching tutorials so I can do some flower artwork for a friend. This was very helpful. I'm looking to do watercolor, marker and pen--I haven't drawn or painted in a LONG time, so just trying to figure out how to make it work. This is a good starting point for me so thanks!
No problems and I'm glad it was useful to you :D Make sure you get a waterproof ink pen... or maybe not and let the pen ink run when you touch it with the water...? :) Thanks for watching!
No problem!! Thanks for the feedback :) Make sure you use a good paper, a 300gsm one from one of the big makers like Bockingford or Winsor & Newton! :D
Lovely, absolutely lovely. :DD I watched your water lily demo and I am so very pleased that you talked us through the painting. Thank you for taking time to do that. Looking forward to seeing more and trying out your techniques. New sub!
+WhatNow858 Thanks for checking out a newer one :) I'm definitely doing more of these this year and people really seem to appreciate the slower ones with commentary so that's no problem! Thanks for the support and subbing :D
Great tutorial with fantastic result. I am new to watercolour painting and each time I come to youtube I find yet another variation in how to get colour onto paper. All good fun and such a learning curve. Now I go to buy watercolour markers!
I'm glad you liked it :D I am the same - I visit youtube and learn new things & new approaches all the time! Enjoy the watercolour markers and If you run into difficulties, I have done a 'Watercolour Markers for beginners' video too... :D
That is high praise indeed! Thank you :D You might want to check out my other Watercolour Marker videos, I've done a bunch since this one, mostly with Aquamarker but a couple with W&N watercolour markers! See my playlists for more and thanks for watching!!
This is stunning! I am starting to use different watersoluble mediums like pens, pencils, pigment sticks and traditional watercolour to paint flowers that I have stamped. Either in a 'no-line' style where you stamp in a very light or soluble ink or emboss the lines of the flower to create 'wells' for painting. Your techniques are so useful. I am especially going to try the one where you take clean water to the petal edge to 'push' the colour back. Thanks!
Thank you - I'm glad it was useful to you and that you can take something from it! I also enjoyed your description of the kind of work that you do, as it's good to know the kind of artwork my viewers create!! :D
I purchased these watercolor markers to use in combination with my regular watercolors. your videos have been so helpful in showing me how to use these markers. especially the mixing of colors and blending together that will work very well with my style of painting. also I might add I am older now and my hand is not as controlled as it used to be so that was also another reason to purchase the markers it would give me greater control I hoped and it has.
Thank you - I'm pleased that they were helpful to you! :) I agree that the control is one of the major pluses of these markers. I'm painting in watercolour paints at the moment, in classic wet-on-dry layers and it takes time... but I find when using the markers its also much more immediate and quick!! I want to get the water on as fast as possible :D Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you!! The feedback is good to hear as I can make sure that all my future videos have a little bit of what makes this one work! Thanks for taking the time to comment - I appreciate it! :)
This was amazing to see the picture appear right in front of me. My mom was a wonderful watercolor artist. I don't think I will follow in her footsteps although I am really intrigued to learn more about the medium. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, thanks for watching :D I'm glad you found it useful and it just shows the way of painting i've explored with them; I bet there are different ways to use them I haven't even tried yet!! Thanks for the feedback.
Hi! Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have a playlist on my channel called 'Drawing Flowers' and some of those videos show how I drew the flowers before painting them! Hope this helps! :D
I really enjoyed watching this gee, thank you so much for making it. I am hoping to find the time soon for some watercolour painting. I find you very easy to watch and listen to. so subscribed :)
Thank you very much!! I try to put out a watercolour marker video each month, in lots of detail with close-ups! Its good to get some feedback too as it helps me plan for future videos :D Thanks for subscribing too :)
Thank you for watching! I'd recommend the W&N watercolour markers for sure; good selection of colours and widely available. If you have a go, good luck with them! :)
I bought some of these a while back and only tried the scribble onto my palette and pick up like traditional water color. Looking forward to trying this way today, thanks so much!!
No problem - thanks for watching and the feedback! Make sure you use good watercolour paper to use them this way, like 300gsm good quality stuff... (Bockingford St Cuthberts Mill or W&N artists watercolour paper.) :D
Thank you so much for your videos. Having just started using marker pens it is great to see what can be achieved using them as I have always used brushes not giving markers the time of day because I thought they would be too restrictive & only something used by graphic designers. However; I am pleasantly surprised & instantly found that I love using these pens & immediately expanded my colour range. Like any tool it all comes down to experimenting which is great fun. The only drawback so far is the types of paper you can not use. I have many styles of sketchbooks with various types of papers but the markers do not fully work on any of them. Because I like these pens I am willing to adapt & have made my own sketchbooks using various types of watercolour papers & now create perfect washes & other techniques when I am out & about. I really appreciate your videos sharing your skills & techniques showing how to use these pens, they help to remove any past fear or bias I had about using any type of marker. You have just advised learning from books, I too learn a lot from books & recently bought a book by an artist who wrote it in the 1940’s showing his style & techniques which are very useful, but as I worked my way through the book, in between the the middle pages I found an A4 double sided hand written letter he wrote in ink which I have been told is now quite valuable! an extra bonus for buying & learning from books! 😉🌈🌹Happy Creating !
Wow, that sounds like quite a find!! I love old books, especially the art technique kind - I'm currently reading one by Quentin Blake, the children's book illustrator and author. Its great to hear about his thoughts on illustrating, drawing and artwork in general. Thanks for the generous feedback too, I try to share as much as I can about the media i'm using and the ways in which I can get it to work, so it's good to know I'm on the right track! I'm glad you have found the right paper that works well for you as finding the right paper is key to making these markers work, in my opinion :D
Love these markers, thanks for posting. I especially like this tulip...my favorite flower. Well, purple is my favorite color also. As a beginner in watercolor, I might be inclined to try the markers.
I started with classic watercolours and really like these watercolour markers - I now find I use both on a regular basis! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
gee massam Art Gosh, this is such a wonderful and educational video. Your voice and accent...pure BLISS....... LOL. And a woman s got to do what a woman s got to do...She has to subscribe Thanks a lot and friendly greetings from Slovenia :))
Thank you! They take a bit of use to get familiar with them (like most media I guess!) but they are a lot of fun and quite versatile! Thanks for watching!! :D
+Shirley Dick Yeah - that is a good point, as I found myself doing that just last night :D I will try to get a tutorial on that for the future! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
+gee massam Art Thanks for replying, I'm quite scared to invest in these pens, then seem so intensely coloured I'm not sure I could cope! Also, what is your experience with the chisel end?
Hi and thanks for watching and for the feedback! No, I haven't drawn a landsacpe with them really so far, but it is on my to-do list for 2017 so stay tuned ;)
Thanks for the feedback!! I've got a few tutorials for them on my channel on the playlist about 'painting flowers': ua-cam.com/play/PLor13ECtJsrgnhHWXhKKXUnyMXzHrDsai.html Hope they are useful to you!! :D
Beautiful work and excellent step by step tutorial! The length of the video is just right by being informative and to the point. Question: how do these compare with traditional watercolors for lightfastness?
Thanks for watching and the kind feedbck! I've only got some paintings that are 3 years old painted with these watercolour markers but they look just as vibrant as when I painted them. Obviously, a longer time-period will tell me more about their lightfastness but I'm also careful not to hang them in bight sunlight too, which could influence the results!! :D You might want to check out some of my other watercolour marker videos, using both the Aquamarkers and also Winsor & Newton's version too! :)
I enjoyed very much the video. I was amazed at how the harsh marker lines faded. Does the paper not 'pil' when you go over it many times to blend it out? Do you always use a reference photo and if yes where do you source them? Many thanks it was great.
Hi, thanks for watching :) The paper is thick 300gsm so its quite resistant to both warping and rubbing away with a lot of brushwork. I probably sail pretty close to the wind in terms of how much I brush the paper, to be honest ;) I always use a reference photo, yes, and they have all been my own so far but I am thinking of doing some future ones using stock photos so that people can paint along if they want to :D that could be a lot of fun and a challenge using someone else's photo...
Hi, these Aquamarkers are not made anymore, I think... BUT there are lots of other brands. I switched to Winsor & Newton ones which are good too but Spectrum Noir, Faber Castell etc. all make watercolour markers too. Thanks for the feedback!!
Thanks for the feedback! The Letraset website describes them as 'Truely light-fast for colour staying power, acid-free' But if you're like me, you never put your watercolours or water-based paintings in direct sunlight - better not to risk it :) I give a few more basic tips about the paper, brushes and techniques I use here: ua-cam.com/video/iDbo6vXRfXo/v-deo.html
Thank you! That's a good question but they probably offer slightly different things. I don't really know but I have LOVED getting back into doing some 'classic' watercolours recently and am looking forward to doing some more... :D
Hi, I would think any watercolor pen, either brush tip or bullet tip would hopefully react the same way. I've tried a handful of them and I can use the same techniques with all of them. It's the right paper that seems to be the most important thing with them.! Thanks for your kind words and for watching!!
@@anitalataille6608 I use Bockingford by St Cuthbert's Mill with Aquamarkers and W&N watercolor markers, as I've found it works really well! But I also saw on Faber Castells website they advise Canson Montval for their watercolor markers, or any paper with a high cellulose content (whatever that means!?). It is always a trial and error process, I'd see if you can get some free samples from paper companies first, try them out and see what works. If you email these companies direct and ask for some paper samples, they'll usually mail them out to you.
This is so inspiring. You make it look easy 😊 I tried watercolors on my own and I had no idea what I was doing... But I'd like to try what you're doing here which seems more controlled and structured. Could you please remind me which paper and brush you recommend? My watercolor paper gets very crinkled when wet.
+Keren Duchan This was a small image, 12x12cm so that makes it a bit easier to start with! For what I call 'classic' watercolours (pans or tubes) W&N watercolour paper or Bockingford 'St Cuthberts Mill' is what I would recommend and I would choose 190gsm thickness or higher. The thicker paper will allow you to work your paints about a bit better than the thinner stuff that will warp and in some cases 'bobble'. Also, the thicker stuff does not need to be 'stretched' in my opinion :D To complicate things further, I use a COLD-PRESS paper with a rough finish. There is a paper called HOT-PRESS but I don't like it :( its very smooth and seems to absorb the paint quicker. With the watercolour markers, I use the 300gsm Bockingford 'SCM' because the markers don't seem to stain the paper which I have found with other brands. Brushes? I use W&N sable rounds, sizes 3,4 & 6 with 'classic' watercolours and Synthetic Brushes for the watercolour markers; W&N Galeria or DalerRowney 'Graduate' they are stiffer but also waaaaay cheaper :D I find the stiffer brushes work better to mix the markers and water ON the paper. That's a long answer :D would it help if I did a video showing what I use and talking you through it??
+gee massam Art this is an excellent explanation and it would be great to see a video about it but only if you're inclined to make one. I'll order what I can find from the supplies you specified and see if I don't get discouraged like I got with regular watercolor. I loved your older videos about the aqua markers and techniques with them. Thanks! 😊
It did not help me, because I wasn't drawing, but I really liked the finishing look. I will share this video with my friends and family. I have liked and subscribed to this video and I hope that you can make some more videos like this. 🙂
I always have trouble blending the colors right. Do you have any techniques a beginner should use? Also, thank you for the helpful tutorial! I'm getting into watercolor and I want to use watercolor markers. I'm not sure if they're easier than traditional watercolor paints.
Hi, with mixing colours I always do a tester first, so I know what the possible colour combos are BEFORE I start the final painting. I also usually stick with blending just 2 colours (maybe 3...) together and that keeps it easier. If you've watched any of my other videos then you might have noticed that I keep the palette for the whole painting to under 5 colours if I can - it just makes it easier for me to keep the palette limited. And I try to do this whether its the markers or classic watercolours! Thanks for watching, and I think its a great idea to try and get good with both the media!
gee massam Art Hello, and yeah I should try the possible combos before mixing. I remember I was trying to do a sunset and I mixed my blue and yellow, causing a terrible green. Alright, thank you so much for the tip and bless your soul for these helpful videos!
Hi! I really don't know how well they would last - is the mural indoors? I'm not sure how well they would last if a drink got spilled on them! These were Aquamarkers by Letraset. Now I use Winsor & Newton watercolour markers instead 😃 Hope this helps!
I love this work Gee!!! I would like to paint a blue tulip, could you recommend what colours you'd choose to do shadows and so on? Thank you very much!!
Hi, sorry for my late reply - this comment got lost on UA-cam somewhere! I would stick with my favourites like, Vintage Blue, Peacock Blue and maybe a little Royal Purple, like the colours I used on my Blue Hydrangea? Let me know how you get on with it :D 👍
Thank you for your super video. It just inspires me to dig up all my markers and do what you do.. BTW what kind of brush are you using. I'm just fscinated with it when you use it with ease. Love it
Thank you so much :D Its a synthetic brush; 'graduate' by Daler Rowney, as it has a bit more spring and 'body' than a classic sable watercolour brush. That comes in handy when i'm blending the marker and water together on the paper itself. Thanks for watching!
You know? That's a good idea and not something I've tried - I usually put fineliner on FIRST and paint second. But because they seem quite transparent and not sedimenty at all, I would think that you can put fineline over the top without clogging the tips 👍
New to watercolour markers?? WATCH my beginners tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/iDbo6vXRfXo/v-deo.html
I love the detailed mimickry of the real Queen of the Night tulip! My favourite tulip!
Thank you! I have some other pics of Irises that I want to paint which have got some amazing blues and purples on them :D I just have to find the time!
How sweet ...
It's hard to make time for artworks, but just hang on in there, you will find it! Afterall, I love these colors of your chosen flowers!
I was looking for an image of a purple tulip at google, and this photo appeared in there! You must be quite good!

Very nice. I look forward to watching it again - and again :-) and seeing your other tutorials.
This is such a lovely response, I cant believe I missed it first time round! Thank you ! :D
I am so addicted to your videos! Your explanations are wonderful. Running out first thing tomorrow and finding those markers!!!!

Beautifully done! I hope I can come close.
Thank you! :D It's all about the practice and taking it one petal at a time!
Great Tutorial! I have learnt a lot! Thank you very much.
Thankyou for watching and the feedback - glad it was helpful to you :D
Excellent tutorial, many thanks.
Thanks for watching and for the positive feedback! :D
A very interesting tutorial. Thanks. I've never used the Aquamarker but I'm going to try them. I love the huge blossom and it's richness.

Thanks Gee.
Your tutorial is excellent. The tulip is gorgeous, it almost looks like velvet in some parts. Thank you so much!
+Beth Arcuri Thank you for the comment :D I'm glad you found it useful!
great work! I'll try Aquamarker!
Thank you! They take a bit of work getting used to them but then there is lots to like! :D

Thanks for watching!
Just incredible. Lovely. I can't wait to try my watercolor markers. Thank you. Amazing work. Just beautiful.
No problem!! Thanks for the feedback :)
Make sure you use a good paper, a 300gsm one from one of the big makers like Bockingford or Winsor & Newton! :D
Great job!
Thank you so much!! I really enjoyed working with purple colours for a change :D
Well done, looks amazing!
+MissNausicaa87 Thanks! When i get the background done, i'll share the speed-painting from start to finish :)
Wow ! Amazing
Thank you so much!! :D
This looks beautiful!!! That color is so pretty! + those markers look like fun!!!
Thanks for watching!
Beautifully done, so pretty!

Nice work and instruction. Refreshing to see this video. Thank you.
Thank you for your feedback and for watching!
Lovely, absolutely lovely. :DD
I watched your water lily demo and I am so very pleased that you talked us through the painting.
Thanks for this tutorial it was so helpful! I recently got watercolour markers and had no idea how to use them and this really helped :)
No problem! Glad it helped you :D there are plenty more watercolour marker tutorials on my channel if you check out my Playlists... :)
Really beautiful, thank you for sharing. I'll give it a try!
Thank you for the feedback :d and good luck!!
enjoyed tutorial...enjoyed each step thank you
Thank you, i'm glad it was useful to you and I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial with fantastic result. I am new to watercolour painting and each time I come to youtube I find yet another variation in how to get colour onto paper. All good fun and such a learning curve. Now I go to buy watercolour markers!
I'm glad you liked it :D
I am the same - I visit youtube and learn new things & new approaches all the time!
Enjoy the watercolour markers and If you run into difficulties, I have done a 'Watercolour Markers for beginners' video too... :D
great tutorial
Thank you! :D
Beautiful
Thank you so much!! :)
very satisfying thank you!!
Thank you for watching!
Excellent...thanks
No problem - I'm glad you liked it and thank you for the feedback! 🙂
Very nice.
Thank you! :D
Great information I have not tried markers yet But will now. Thank you. Annette.
No problem! Glad you got something out of it! :D
best usage of aquamarkers i have ever seen though for working about 7 days i m not that good as you ; just loved it
That is high praise indeed! Thank you :D You might want to check out my other Watercolour Marker videos, I've done a bunch since this one, mostly with Aquamarker but a couple with W&N watercolour markers!
See my playlists for more and thanks for watching!!
Amazing.
Thank you so much for the feedback! :D
Awesome!!!
+Sarah Light Thank you! I'm glad it as useful to you :D
I want to get the water on as fast as possible :D
Thanks for watching and commenting!
This got on my reccomended and i love this type of video
Cool! It's good when UA-cam guesses correctly and shows you stuff you ACTUALLY want to watch 😄 hope you like it!👍
Awesome video. Thank you for the tips.
Thanks for the feedback! And ofcourse, for watching! :D
Your explanations are really nice and clear. A proper tutorial! 💙
Thank you!! The feedback is good to hear as I can make sure that all my future videos have a little bit of what makes this one work! Thanks for taking the time to comment - I appreciate it! :)
This was an amazing video-- thank you!!! I learned a lot!
No problem :D and thanks for the feedback and for watching!
This was amazing to see the picture appear right in front of me. My mom was a wonderful watercolor artist. I don't think I will follow in her footsteps although I am really intrigued to learn more about the medium. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
Hi, I bought some waterbased markers and I didn't really know how to use them, thanks man, you helped me a lot!!
Hi, thanks for watching :D I'm glad you found it useful and it just shows the way of painting i've explored with them; I bet there are different ways to use them I haven't even tried yet!!
Thanks for the feedback.
I love this tutorial. I would like to see something on how to draw these lovely big flowers please?
Its good to get some feedback too as it helps me plan for future videos :D
Thanks for subscribing too :)
Thank you very much .
Not a problem, this is one of my personal favourites. :)
I really enjoy watching the video, thank you!!! Btw, I've never saw such watercolor markers but now I'm definitely going to find it and try))
Thank you for watching! I'd recommend the W&N watercolour markers for sure; good selection of colours and widely available. If you have a go, good luck with them! :)
+gee massam Art thank you!
Super informative! Loved the video (:
Thank you!! I sometimes wonder if the videos are too long so its good that you liked the info :)
Thanks for watching and commenting :D
I bought some of these a while back and only tried the scribble onto my palette and pick up like traditional water color. Looking forward to trying this way today, thanks so much!!
No problem - thanks for watching and the feedback!
Make sure you use good watercolour paper to use them this way, like 300gsm good quality stuff... (Bockingford St Cuthberts Mill or W&N artists watercolour paper.) :D
Wow
Thank you so much ☺
WOW PHILOMENA TO A NONE PAINTER THANKS
No problem! 😃
I'm glad you have found the right paper that works well for you as finding the right paper is key to making these markers work, in my opinion :D
this is an awesome tutorial! Thank you it has really helped me out :)
Thank you :D I'm glad it was useful to you!! There are some other watercolour marker videos on my channel if you are interested :)
Thank you...I have subscribed to your channel to watch your other videos too :)
nice!
Thank you :D
And thanks for watching!

The more I think about using them, the more ideal it seems to use them for travel. Thanks for the reply, Gee.

Gosh, this is such a wonderful and educational video. Your voice and accent...pure BLISS....... LOL. And a woman s got to do what a woman s got to do...She has to subscribe Thanks a lot and friendly greetings from Slovenia :))
Thank you!! :D and greetings back from the UK!
Beautiful! you make it look so easy, I will definitely try these markers. Thanks!
Thank you! They take a bit of use to get familiar with them (like most media I guess!) but they are a lot of fun and quite versatile!
Thanks for watching!! :D
Fun to watch. Thanks.
No problem!
Thanks for the feedback!
Gosh, that is GORGEOUS. Can you share how well these pens perform compared with wet on dry?
+Shirley Dick Yeah - that is a good point, as I found myself doing that just last night :D I will try to get a tutorial on that for the future! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
+gee massam Art Thanks for replying, I'm quite scared to invest in these pens, then seem so intensely coloured I'm not sure I could cope! Also, what is your experience with the chisel end?
They shouldn't be too expensive :D and the first 3 or 4 paintings I did was using 6 Aquamarkers to mix all the colours!!
Oh and the other end is a bullet tip, not chisel and USUALLY I find its slightly brighter in colour than the fine end :D
Thank you for great demonstration!Do you have any tutorial teaching how to use these markers on landscapes and not flowers?
Hi and thanks for watching and for the feedback! No, I haven't drawn a landsacpe with them really so far, but it is on my to-do list for 2017 so stay tuned ;)
Great tutorial! Thankyou, I've been looking to use the watercolour pens and wasn't sure about trying them.... im gonna give em a go now! ☺
Thanks for the feedback!! I've got a few tutorials for them on my channel on the playlist about 'painting flowers': ua-cam.com/play/PLor13ECtJsrgnhHWXhKKXUnyMXzHrDsai.html
Hope they are useful to you!! :D
Its awesome tutorial. Will you do peony too? Thanks so much!
+atdoodlenoodle Thanks for the feedback :) i'll have a look at peony's for sure - I'm painting a white iris next week...
You might want to check out some of my other watercolour marker videos, using both the Aquamarkers and also Winsor & Newton's version too!
I probably sail pretty close to the wind in terms of how much I brush the paper, to be honest ;)
I always use a reference photo, yes, and they have all been my own so far but I am thinking of doing some future ones using stock photos so that people can paint along if they want to :D that could be a lot of fun and a challenge using someone else's photo...
This video is great Thank you
Are this Markers are easy to find?
Hi, these Aquamarkers are not made anymore, I think... BUT there are lots of other brands. I switched to Winsor & Newton ones which are good too but Spectrum Noir, Faber Castell etc. all make watercolour markers too. Thanks for the feedback!!
So glad I found you :) Can you tell me if these markers are lightfast? I have these markers and never really new how to use them...now I know. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback! The Letraset website describes them as 'Truely light-fast for colour staying power, acid-free' But if you're like me, you never put your watercolours or water-based paintings in direct sunlight - better not to risk it :)
I give a few more basic tips about the paper, brushes and techniques I use here: ua-cam.com/video/iDbo6vXRfXo/v-deo.html
very good! for you are better aquacolor or watercolor markers ?
Thank you! That's a good question but they probably offer slightly different things. I don't really know but I have LOVED getting back into doing some 'classic' watercolours recently and am looking forward to doing some more... :D
Can you do the same with watercolor brush pens?? Love your work!!
Hi, I would think any watercolor pen, either brush tip or bullet tip would hopefully react the same way. I've tried a handful of them and I can use the same techniques with all of them. It's the right paper that seems to be the most important thing with them.!
Thanks for your kind words and for watching!!
@@gee355Art What exactly is the right paper please!!
@@gee355Art I have 140lb. cold pressed watercolor paper and doesn't seem to work well with my waterbrush pens????
@@gee355Art Are you from England or Australia?? Love your accent and you speak so well during your instructions too!!
good👍
Thanks for the visit, I loved doing this one! 😃
Thanks! 😊
+Keren Duchan My number one tip with watercolours is - use clean water and lots of it (hence the thicker paper!)
It did not help me, because I wasn't drawing, but I really liked the finishing look. I will share this video with my friends and family. I have liked and subscribed to this video and I hope that you can make some more videos like this. 🙂
+shannon d Thats the plan - I think its a White Iris up next :D
Thanks for commenting! (and subbing!)
I've watched this one a few times. Interesting. Would you be able to use the markers again but not a flower?
Hi! I do plan to use them on something different, its just finding the time - did you have anything in mind? :)
Alright, thank you so much for the tip and bless your soul for these helpful videos!
so nice 😍❤️
Thanks for watching!! 😆
Thanks for sharing I can use this techniques for graphics communications subject and make my work look nicer :) than just using copic markers
No problem! I'm glad it was useful to you! :D
Hi what brand of watercolour pens did you use ? Do you know if these would be able to use on a wall as in a giant peony mural ? Many thanks 😊
Hi! I really don't know how well they would last - is the mural indoors? I'm not sure how well they would last if a drink got spilled on them! These were Aquamarkers by Letraset. Now I use Winsor & Newton watercolour markers instead 😃
Hope this helps!
Can you use fineliner technical pens on these papers over the watercolor?
You know? That's a good idea and not something I've tried - I usually put fineliner on FIRST and paint second. But because they seem quite transparent and not sedimenty at all, I would think that you can put fineline over the top without clogging the tips 👍
gee massam Art cool 🙏 thank you again
