@@cadendowdle8901 yes but I thought the meme was appropriate haha quite a chunk of the guitar part is basically John muting either all of the strings or playing some notes while muting the rest of the strings ;)
Whenever I sing this song, most times I sing backup because whether it's John or josh I always appreciate it and i find it more fun than the lead vocals
@@angelos6961 i like to intersperse. I’ll sing the lead vocals for the first half of the chorus, then the backing for the second. It’s great practice for switching pitch and style quickly
Unfortunately studio recording doesn't really reproduce his muted guitar idea IMHO. I realized that when we rehearsed the song in studio. Believe me this guitar part getting out of the guitar amp sounds way more trembling in the air. I thought to myself "I got what you really wanted to do John!"
Another thing to consider is that this riff doesn’t sound nearly as good without the drums and bass. The drums give it lots of power and drive it forward, and the bass does the same but also kinda adds some variation.
- You can't play a whole song just with muted strings
- John: hold my pedalboard
It isn't the whole song, only the verses.

things only Frusciante can do🤘
- John: wait, give me back my pedalboard
The man has possibly the greatest rhythm of any guitarist in history
Amem
Agree, maybe not the best but he has so much rhythm, theory and creativity
Yeah John has written tons of great riffs that are mostly just great rhythms. See I like dirt, power of equality, ect.
1:05 softest falsetto EVER it's the voice of an angeeeel
1:02 If that's not being played at heavens doors when I die, I'll be a bit disappointed
Hahahaha yeaaa

Whenever I heard a cover version of this song, the missing backing vocal is the one that makes me missing john even more.
That light on 2:49 damn men what a vibe
His vocals are sooooo good
2:45

Bro this riff live is crazyyyy
This is great but unfortunately it is missing a couple of John's precious vocal parts. Redo including everything pleeease
the tree people who disliked this video are clowns
It kinda sounded like Goodbye Horses in the beginning for a second
Backing 1:50 ??????????
Apparently these are not Frusciante's, but probably Flea.
doesn't have a backing vocal on this chorus
