  • This week I show you how to do a classic, powerful, and really easy coin effect. This is a great "quick trick" or something you can show to "warm up" your audience before you show them some more advanced coin work.
It's easy to do and something you can carry on you every day and it takes up minimal pocket space.

My 2 cents is that if done well people WILL ask you to do it again to show Jonny who was in another room just now. So it is good to have another presentation ready, something like Jon Allen s Unique coin bend would be a neat follow up

So Sweeeeet Rick, Awesome application on the bent coin plot. Soooo dead easy BUT, so darn strong to a layman!! This is why you are so respected, liked and appreciated by all of us that are subbed to the channel....from those of you that are intermediate to advanced, to measly novice newbies like myself 😉...we just love the beauty of coin magic. I totally agree that this is perfect for a quick coin opener or even just if someone that knows you or heard you do magic. I'm with you on the not necessary to have it signed but it could be done if wanted to give away as a souvenir. I thought of Loki Cross' DVD FAX and just forgeing their signature or initials. Hand out the normal coin for them to initial one side ( You've secretly pre- signed the other). Ask for it back to initial yours whilst palming the bent coin that you already initialed previously as well. Stack them with one on top of the other in your flat hand, concealed from onlookers. Proceed to forge their initial or sig and continue like Rick teached by placing the bent coin in that pinky kind of palm hold while you reposition the normal signed coin in the palm. Close into fist, steal normal coin and continue with your best acting presentation of bending "their" quarter.
That might be a nice option if you want to leave it with them because let's face it, their gonna wanna see it, feel it and keep it. Just my idea and unnecessary long description of how I'd do it.....I felt like sharing👍......B

I love bent coin...haven't done it in years.....When I ditch the one coin, I use it as a premise of getting a lighter..... from my pocket, then tell them I'm using the heat from the lighter to soften the medal

Hello Rick, I’ve never been happy with the result of bending a coin with pliers. So, I cut off a short piece of one inch pipe, then cut that piece in half lengthwise. Lay a rag into the pipe cavity, add your coin, another rag layer and then a three quarter inch socket. Clamp it all into a vice or a C clamp and wrench it closed. You end up with a coin bent into a perfect arch with no marring...

We had a mentalist at our house that had my wife pick a coin from our own change jar after shaking it up while he looked the other way, she looked at the date and he told her what it was while still back to, then had her hold it in her fist then he turned around, never saw the quarter himself or touched it, put his hands above and below her fist without touching her and made the quarter bend in her fist, she could feel it happening. He had her open her hand up and show us, then again, without touching her "pushed" from the front toward her fist and bent the quarter even more, among a bunch of other things he did which were completely unexplainable.

Great video Rick. I always enjoy your channel. I agree that coin bend is very effective. I don't do it but I've seen many people's minds get blown by it. My buddy Jordan has fooled many people with that effect. The look on people's faces is priceless. Again great stuff Rick. Thanks man. 😁👍

Love a good coin bend! But only ever really use it when doing mentalism stuff, I shall have to see where it fits in my close-up set again 🙌🏼

I have been doing coin magic for a year now, but your videos helped me get better at it even if you show beginner magic, if you have the fantasy for it you can take it further, but the basics is the most fundamental to know, without it even if you have the best gimmick in the world you can fuck it up ! XD Royally!

Just subscribed! Your "Rolling Retention" video sold me. I'm new to coin manipulation (about eight weeks in) and I've been blown away by your videos. I'm using Kennedy half dollars to get my palming technique down, and based on your choice, I'll be trying out the Barber halfs next. Any suggestion about where to purchase those?

I have a good coin shop locally. That's the best bet for price and selection. But you should probably hold off for now until the price of silver comes down.

Another great video, I am really excited for the interviews, one thing that I think could be added it the idea that doing a retention or false transfer as a way of taking the unbent coin out of play, as well as performing with the coin beforehand, to make it seem natural with it before performing the bend, though that is just my opinion.
P.S. I was wondering if you could make a series or just a video on ring and coin magic together?
