- In January 2017, a new video store opened in Los Angeles that only stocks 14,000 copies of Jerry Maguire on VHS - none of which are available for rent or purchase.
Masterminded by video art collective Everything is Terrible, which began amassing this collection over 8 years ago, this "store" is functionally intended to be more of a hallucinatory, immersive experience.
To bring finality to their burdensome obsession, their next goal is to construct a permanent place to house their "Jerrys"; a giant pyramid in the Nevada desert.

I agree with you, Sir. And you know what alse? This also serves as a physical place to reflect upon the wastefulness of our society. I mean, that is tons of paper, celulloid and plastic devoted to a film. I like Jerry Mcguire, but makes you think about all the other VHS's ever produced, movies that no one saw. I don't know, I think this can stretch way beyond this particular movie. I've seen many art installations with more funding and less sense.

They speak the TRUTH. I used to see so many JERRY MAGUIRE tapes at the thrift that I took to putting copies of the video in the front of every row so it looked like the store had nothing but JERRY MAGUIRE videotapes. Then, years later, I heard that somebody else felt the same way I did about it! This is a senselessly beautiful thing.

this is so perfect. So often I'm at a garage sale or thrift store, and I see Jerry Mcguire on vhs. Literally 80 percent of the time. I've noticed it for years. Long before I ever saw this or heard about it I always laughed every time I saw Tom Cruise and his cheesy smile because it happens so darn often. please keep this up.

That store looks really cool, almost as well kept and organised as the scene in Edward Scissorhands where the people are driving to work.
I love how comments are 50% people just laughing and having fun because they get its a joke, and other 50% are people that for some reason got ABSOLUTELY OFFENDED AND PISSED OF.

They didn't open actually open a store, the place is a gallery, so this is basically functioning as an art installation (what this video doesn't show you is that they also had a whole event organized around the installation, with live bands, prize giveaways, etc).

Loved that! This reminds me of an idea I had years and years back to make a video, where explorers find a crypt, and in it, I am sitting on a cobwebbed throne of unopened Magic the gathering fallen empire boxes. But structures made of VHS works much better lol!
