Rancho the Dog is a 4 year old male Belgian Tervuren Shepherd. There are 4 varieties of the Belgian Shepherd Dog - the Malinois (short coated), the Groenendael (black long-coated), the Lakenois (wire-haired) and the Tervuren (basically a long-coated Malinois, as far as color is concerned)

Totally agree with you. What type of vest is it. Doesn't look to bulky. I want to get one for my 80 pound pit bull. I worry about them being too thick and causing her to be too hot. She gets really hot as it is. On the other hand she has allergies and has not much hair on her sides. Apparently blue pits have this issue sometimes. Which is another point you can add is sun protection. I guess if you keep them wet it may even keep them cooler.

Cherokee slipped and fell off the boat when she was walking on the gunnel watching the fish I was fighting on the line on the fishing rod. She had on her life jacket so I wasn't worried about her. I let her swim around as she was having fun. Then back in the boat and zoomies for a bit. lol
My current dog, Alyeska, also has his life jacket.

This video was sooo cute! ❤️ What fun you two are having! I'm kind of jealous because Tove hates water. She hates walks in the rain and we had to buy her a jacket so she would feel more comfortable during rainwalks. She even avoids puddles! Though bathing her is not a problem but she doesn't love it either. So no life jacket for her. 😆 But dogs like Rancho who love getting in the water absolutely need one!

Do you have a favorite for larger or smaller ? I have a Westie ( 17 lbs ) I’ve seen some that have a float under the chin type thing ?
Your life jacket looks great on Rancho and the reasons you give for having one are compelling. He was enjoying playing in the water so much!
Smudge goes in the water but not very deeply, preferring to keep her paws firmly on the ground usually, so we haven't got one. However if we ever did get around to trying to teach her to surf and encouraging her to try going deeper into the sea I would definitely get one then. 😊💙
