    • @Iditsl

      Every year 54000 people disappear in France, of which about 10000 of are considered alarming.
      About a 1000 of these people are never recovered and their fate is left unknown.
      The police attitude of passivity is often accounted for for the negative outcome of such disparitions. When the person is young she is supposed to be a runaway, when she is older she's believed to have eloped.
      Some journalists made the supposition that several unknown serial killers are roaming in France.
      Nowadays the wait and see policy is less and less accepted and this attitude has been criticized by the public and the press.

    How can the hospital just take her passport away, what is going on?! The passport is her property, it stays with the patient, especially when she is not in the right state of mind. For what reason do you need her passport in the first place, a copy should be sufficient for documentation purposes. When you think she can't care for herself, you contact the police or the embassy, you do not steal her ID. This poor woman should have never been put into that situation, this poor family should have never gone through all of that, shame on the hospital for not taking proper care of a vulnerable patient.

      Don't count on it. The Israeli public health system does save lives, but when it comes to mental health it is as bad as in most of the West. There's is a three-months wait to see a Psychiatrist for five minutes, and the patient leaves with a prescription, usually for some of the cheaper SSRI's, that usually are inadequate and do not alleviate the condition in any way. This will have to change, however, because this war has caused a dramatic increase in the numbers of PTSD and related ailments sufferers, and something must be done in earnest.

      It’s mentioned that she had had mental health issues in the past. It seems she had a breakdown of some kind. It’s actually more common with people who are traveling abroad, than many realize. The travel itself - being in such an unfamiliar environment, with regular routines disrupted- can have a triggering effect and bring on a mental health episode, even when the person wanted to travel and was doing fine beforehand. Sometimes it’s because they stop taking medication they’re on, like lithium, because of the side effects. Maybe that was the cause in this case. When people with bipolar disorder stop taking lithium they often have a manic episode and do impulsive things.

      Presumably she made friends with some other homeless people who looked out for her.
      If Paris is like cities I know in Canada, in the winter many extra heated overnight shelter spaces open up and churches routinely stay open so homeless people can sleep inside out of the cold. There are soup kitchens and other charities serving free meals and many of the long term homeless are experts at knowing when and where to find food. Eg they go to restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores at closing time to get expired food they’re about to throw out. There are also places where they can take showers, get clean donated clothing, medical exams and medicine, etc. Not trying to downplay how difficult it is to be homeless, but the fact is many not-so-young people survive for years living like this.

    People are people, and there is humanity that bind us all, no matter what color or religion. Why do harm in the name of politics or religion? I know I am idealistic because individuals are driven by bad values and intentions, but stories like this makes me have hope for us.

    This had to be a nightmare that took two years from which to wake up !!
    I cannot imagine that the French Police did not even TRY to help this lady find her family.
    If it wasnt for this beautiful Israeli lady all would have been lost.
    I have been to Paris. I found that place cold and complacent.
    I have no intention of EVERY going back.

    In France they have a law called "The right to disappear " so if someone goes missing they don't look for them unless there is evidence of a crime. It's really odd.

    In all that time, no one has been able to contact her at the Israeli consulate or embassy? What a lack of diligence in that country. No wonder what is happening to them is happening to them.
    May she be happy for the rest of her life, with the guidance and protection of God always. 💖🇨🇱🇮🇱

    Lovely story. Likely the mother has Dissociative Fugue, which is a symptom where a person with memory loss travels or wanders. That leaves the person in an unfamiliar setting with no memory of how they got there.

    Soooo did she want to disappear? I’m confused

    • @carmdown
      @carmdown Місяць тому +8

      No, I don’t think she wanted to disappear. From how I understood the story, she got separated from her daughter while they were touring, and then she got disoriented when she couldn’t find her daughter.. The mother had mental health issues, and the stress likely exacerbated her condition. She couldn’t remember the hotel where they were staying, and wouldn’t have known which authorities to go to. Also the added issue of not being able to speak English or French (most Israeli Arabs speak Hebrew and Arabic).

    • @mspaint93
      @mspaint93 Місяць тому +3

      I think a lot comes down to mental health issues. I have had family 'dissapear' while overseas in countries they don't speak the language of as they become profoundly disoriented and distressesed, and it snowballs. My uncle was missing in SEA for two years as it exasperated his manic episodes. They don't really 'want' to do anything as much as they become confused and agitated for up to years at a time.

    Arab town? I thought Israel is a democracy, citizens can live anywhere they choose. Legally?

    • @ElisaAvigayil
      @ElisaAvigayil Місяць тому +1

      Yes, Israeli citizens can basically live anywhere, but there are towns that are majority Jewish and there are towns that are majority Muslim and there are towns that are majority Druze. I don't think there are towns that are majority Christian because Christians are only 5% of the overall population, but there are neighborhoods that are majority Christian, like the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. And even in areas where the majority of the population is one religion, you still have different people mixed in. If you look in a map, most large towns and cities along Highway 6 between Hwys 1 and 67 are Arab. Baqa al-Gharbiyye, where the missing woman is from, is a predominantly Arab town. This town is located in an area called the Arab Triangle. I really don't know why it's called a "Triangle."
