  • Hey folks! Here is my Igland 3501 Skidding WInch. This winch is helping me take down large trees and skid the best logs so I can save the lumber for a future saw mill. The winch has a pulling capacity of 7700lbs, has 165ft of metal cable and weighs around 500lbs. It is rated for a 30-70hp tractor and fits Cat 1 and 2 tractors. Thanks for watching!

I don't know why you don't have 30 thousand subscribers because your content is great.
This winch reminds me of Glenn's machine, his channel is Timber and Terra.

Good review. Got the Norse 250, essentially the same as this unit's Norse next smaller counterpart, and very glad I went with. All same aspects, save 2nd bottom pulley position, I love it's simplicity and ruggedness. In my case, I prefer these unit's, i.e. Igland/Norse shorter, heavier-gauge guards better than the higher but lighter found on many other brands. I don't have a cab and always operate on the ground, so that works best for my situation, and low shed door, hehe. These winches really pull stuff, and I too usually run my tractor at idle, or maybe just above, once in a while.

Thank you for pointing out the brake/release flip lever... ive been looking at getting one of these for woods/trail recoveries for my towing business and not knowing if one of these style winches has a brake or not has been killing me 😂

I went with the FX85. From your review they are very comparable winches. My deciding factor was Canadian built. That said you have an excellent device. I would highly recommend a self detaching snatch block. Well worth the money and the convenience. Also keep your tow line as close to the ground as possible. Less dangerous if something should come loose and also less stress on the tractor and winch. Stay safe!

If money and supply was not an issue I would have loved an FX85 but I am very pleased with the 3501! I've recently discovered the self detaching snatch blocks but for the price, for now, I'll manually move the line...might change my mind quickly though hehe.

Nice video. I know appearances are often deceptive, but it looks as if the stump would have caused less trouble if you backed the tractor closer to the log.

you can winch with the tractor just idling and there is a way to run pto without altering the seat switch if you tractor is newer

Apparently this is a downside of the air ride seat? I know the regular seat you can just flip it forward and still run the PTO.
