Absolutely great video, I like the longer format. Full of interest, excellent narration. Almost laying my plans to go to Purbeck before you had finished …
Hello I live in this area. When you are on the ridge just before Corfe after a very wet period, you begin to see the flooded bogs and moorlands join up. That certainly illustrates how close it is to an island, especially when the main road south out of Wareham forms a causeway through the wetland. Out of season, we very much have the lifestyle of an island,Swanage has a population of 10,000 and we more or less have one road and one ferry in! Great video, thank you ....Sub’d:)
Yes the Swanage shops quite suffer as many people come for quirky Christmas presents and a day out just before Christmas. With the ferry out it adds 25 to 30 miles and so most stay in Bournemouth and Poole instead. Thank you for great videos, I’ve just discovered you so lots of catching up...best wishes.
Thanks Brody - despite the comments saying longer = good the average watch duration at the moment for this video is less than 8mins, but those folk don’t comment, so it helps to ask. Glad you liked it.
Brilliant video. Very educational. Please keep showing us places and routs like this to push our curiosity and to make us dream for the next adventure destination. There are too many places in UK I personally would like to go. Thank you for your hard work. Regards Dan
Another great adventure Simon, I prefer them to be longer than your usual videos. The Isle of Whithorn in Dumfries and Galloway is another place with the sea on 3 sides and great cycling too.
Nicely done Simon, interesting take on the Purbecks. Living in Bournemouth the ferry is an easy ride along the beach and that's where the gravel bikes come into their own, being able to ride to the ride, even 10 miles to Wareham Forest is easy enough. Our take on riding the Purbecks is that there are one or two decents that would be more fun on an MTB but an MTB could be overkill or even hard going for the rest. Though the longer style informational format isn't something we do, it's still an enjoyable watch when others put the work in as you have. Well done.
Thanks for the comment - you have some great rides on your channel so I'm pleased you're happy with this, although I expect you'll know all the area well. I'd hoped to ride the Dorset Dirt Dash route originally, but for family reasons I could get the overnight away, so it turned into what you see. Hope to catch up with you next time we're down.
Love the longer video format. You are letting all the secrets out of our beautiful Dorset for all to see. Living here I sometimes forget how fantastic it is. Genuinely thank you for reminding me. Ps Scotland is Amazing too.
Great travel / adventure video. I appreciate the different cinematography angles and techniques you used in the editing. The longer format was very nice too. Have you done a how to video on how you shoot your videos. Your videos seem very profession.
I'm pleased you like the videos, thank you Hung. Following requests, I made a series of three videos about how I shoot, structure and edit the videos. The first is here and the links to the other two are in the description: ua-cam.com/video/gB1jlSvPWio/v-deo.html
I love your channel for so many reasons but especially as it's kept me sane during lockdown. It's professional, interesting, amazingly shot and you are a great story teller, you deserve many more subscribers. Keep up the great work!
Always find your videos informative and well constructed. The longer format just makes it more enjoyable, thanks for sharing and taking the time to give others pleasure Simon, regards Bob
Ya soft northern jessy. A friend’s 14 year old son rode your route and more recently ( they’re from Edinburgh) this is my playground. . Ridden the best part of 12,000 in 2 years . Love the Purbecks. Only pulling your leg about the northern jessy bit 😜😜💪💪 We have a hashtag in these parts of Dorset #DGGTUP which is for Dorset Grit and Gravel “ Toughen up Princess “
Well if I see that hashtag I’ll know. Road riding down there was a revelation l. I thought Scotland’s hills would have prepared me but the short steep constant rolling on the road is tiring. That said, I got by best Ironman 70.3 time at Weymouth so I got used to it.
@@alwaysanotheradventure 😂😂😂 I am following another channels from England, wales, usa and Ireland, so a mix of all. Scotish is not easy but I like It a lot
really enjoyed this very informative video, iv done a bike packing around this area in Dorset but got completly battered by rain which lasted more than 8 hours straight
Arrive on a boat, some of my happiest childhood memories are messing about in boats in Sandbanks. Excellent video Simon, beautifully filmed and edited. I prefer the long video that’s a mini documentary.
Great video Simon. I cannot hardly wait to get on my bike. I live in Victoria Australia and we are in lock down for another 3 weeks. Be safe and thank you.
I have a nephew in Melbourne who I Skyped recently - it's tough out there. It could well be the same soon over here. I'm just glad we live in countries with a decent health care system.
Hi Andrew - you're right. That's exactly what I say at 8:15 when I'm stood on the bridge over the River Froome. I also mention it at 14:01 and show the sign when I cross back onto the Isle.
How wonderful!, for once the video wasn't over before it had begun. You've often left me thinking, you just uploaded a trailer. I know a man who would relish wrestling that sandy road one-handed, JOM the Gravel Cyclist; and yes, that was a Gravel Ride, a road bike would be out of its depth and a mountain bike would be overkill. #lovegravelbikes #allroadbikes
Fantastic as always, I've done a small amount of riding in that part of the UK but this makes me want to return for more. Also I liked the longer format but also don't mind the shorter ones in the mix as well.
Great Video, that just put another area on my To-Cycle-List, once traveling abroad isn't crazy irresponsible anymore. I thoroughly enjoy your content and I'm looking forward to your next video.
Great video - thanks for making and sharing. I love Purbeck, been going there for years, mostly for walking but I shall definitely follow your route as soon as conditions allow. Keep up the good work!
Yet another great vid! Very informative as usual and presented in a "grown up " way. Certainly not too long. Coincidentally, I was already looking at a visit to the area and your video makes it more likely. Many thanks, keep them coming.
Thanks for sharing a holiday ride👍 As always excellent content and I for one would love to see more of these longer videos showcasing rides in Scotland and elsewhere - appreciate the work that must go in to making them 👍Talking gate posts - whatever next?
It was shot over two days which isn't always easy here, esp during the shorter winter days, but I'll try. Gateposts - I wasn't sure whether to include that!
great video simon - longer format works well for me - liked the narration and some great camera work - nice route to try out along the south coast too -cheers
Great video loved the longer format as well, dont think short vids are the way to on youtube. For me if its 5 or 6 minutes im less likely to add this to my watch list. 15 to 20 mins is the ideal length. BTW im a big fan of your podcasts good competition for Bob Cartwright ;-) How about some bike packing in the cairngorms that would be good i reckon.
Thanks John. First indication is that folk who comment like them longer, yet 55% of viewers stop watching around 7 mins. That's early data and the picture will be clearer in a few days. I'm pleased you like the podcasts and I have two excellent guests coming up - Josh Ibbett tomorrow and (fingers crossed) Mr Mark Beaumont for 1st Nov. C19 tore up my bikepacking plans for the year and I'm not sure I'll get out for many overnights in what's left, but I'll try.
@@alwaysanotheradventure This 55% you mention depends on the group you are targeting, I suppose. For the outdoors fraternity I wouldn't imagine this was the case. I'm certainly going to have a look though.
@@alwaysanotheradventure I gave up at 5mins because I normally watch over a hurried breakfast and expected it to only be short. I obviously came back later to savour its full length glory ;)
Thanks Mark. Interesting to note the average watch duration for this video is currently 7’38” so longer doesn’t work with everyone. That said, the average will be brought down by those who just click away at the start, so the comments help me to understand. This one was shit over two days and it’ll get harder to do this with Scotland’s short winter days - but I do hear you.
